Wasn't there an issue in the paper the other day with Parry McCluer's head coach and they will probably be finding another head coach? great_state 12 Report Share Posted July 27, 2011 Wasn't there an issue in the paper the other day with Parry McCluer's head coach and they will probably be finding another head coach? Yes. Mike Craft was named interim coach at PM after the other coach they hired was arrested.

Unchained 587 Report Share Posted July 27, 2011 can someone clear this up for a not-so-far southwest virginian such as myself.....which schools consolidated to make up eastside, central and union? J.J.Kelly/Pound = Central Powell Valley/Appalachia=Union Coeburn/St. Paul= Eastside
redtiger 1,742 Report Share Posted July 27, 2011 Just a little info, all 3 schools are in Wise County all 3 will be Single A, Central and Union should be just over 700 students and Eastside will probably be around 500. Most of the kids from St Paul chose to go to nearby Castlewood(in Russell Co) rather than take the longer bus ride to Eastside(in Coeburn). Makes sense. Isn't St. Paul right next to Castlewood at the Wise Co./Russel Co. border?
Unchained 587 Report Share Posted July 27, 2011 Makes sense. Isn't St. Paul right next to Castlewood at the Wise Co./Russel Co. border? just a few miles from each other. Norton will be the wildcard in this deal. If they join, they would most likely go to Eastside

1inStripes 933 Report Share Posted July 27, 2011 How are they allowed to go to school in Russell County? Do they have to pay tuition? Most of St. Pauls students already lived in Russell County. The counties and state supported allowing students to make the switch to Castlewood if they choose to do so without having to sit out an academic year if their physical address already fell within the Russell County line basically. That's an odd situation....did the students from Russell County that were going to St. Paul have to pay any tuition or anything...not criticizing or anything, just curious....or did the counties just cooperate with each other on this? deuceswild 15 Report Share Posted July 27, 2011 To my understanding, the close proximities of St. Paul and Castlewood fostered a lot of line crossing and school switching since inception. The county line is somewhat blurry in that area.

futbolking 766 Report Share Posted July 27, 2011 Regaurding Coach Williams at Graham... anybody know if he ever got settled in? I heard he was staying with somebody during the week so that he could be here for lifting and was going home on weekends....that's gotta be a tough move, especially with young children. The majority of St. Paul students are in Wise County. An urban legend that the majority are from Russell. The town of St. Paul is in both counties. The Russell students attending St. Paul could be eligible at Castlewood in view of the fact that they are Russell residents. It appears that Coeburn will end up with 10 to 20 St. Paul students. Some St. Paul parents have taken steps to move to the Russell side for eligibility reasons.
