Richlands - 45

Honaker - 19

FINAL

Some Stats:

Richlands -

294 yds rushing

124 yds passing

7 of 14 in passing

9 penalties for 80 yds

Devon Johnson --16 rushes for 202 yds

(Devon had 140 yds called back on penalties) without these penalties he would have had

342 rushing yds for game

Honaker-

130 rushing

127 passing

5 of 17 in passing

3 fumbles with 2 to's

5 penalties for 35 yds

Jared Honaker with 23 carries for 93 yds

Sidenote: Edith Brown interviewed Preston Buchanan who was Honaker's football coach when the Tigers started their football program back in 1961. He said he told the boys "they were like Daniel Boone blazing a trail" since there was no organized football played, they had no prior experience. They played football on a vacant lot behind Modern Chevrolet. Coach Buchanan was the coach for the Tigers for 6 years and helped start the Little League program in Honaker. Coach Buchanan's grandson Frank Taylor, is on the Richlands roster and plays for the Blues.

Also, interviewed Coach Harding before game and he said when he started as baseball coach at Honaker, the team didn't have uniforms, wore football jerseys and jeans for the game.

Looks like Bluefield's chances at making the playoffs are slim to none this season

Got to win out to have a chance...Oak Hill, James Monroe, Wayne...not likely...

Damn........what a night !!! And I thought Devon's 202 was a great night !

He's a beast no doubt, but that Warrior Offense was clicking as well, and countered blow for blow. BTW VHSL Helper all Central home games are at UVA-WISE until our new facilities are built
