Guest king kone Report Share Posted October 15, 2011 Lebanon - 13Abingdon - 0 FINAL Not understanding the coaching here--Lebanon should be taking a knee to end game, but still running plays with over a minute to go--Lebanon hit with 3 unsportsman like penalties in this final possession. Remember Lebanon losing 42-0 with a minute to go in the half last year......and calling timeouts........that John Adams ain't the sharpest tool in the box......... redtiger 1,742 Report Share Posted October 15, 2011 If I remember correctly Lebanon lost a game a few seasons ago in which they were up by 4-5 with 1:30 or so to go and the other team had no timeouts. Instead of taking knees and running the clock out they were running the ball and the Tailback fumbled, other team falls on it and goes on to score a TD and win the game. I think thats how it went down but my memory is failing

redtiger 1,742 Report Share Posted October 16, 2011 That situation was a little different. I think there was almost 2 minutes on the clock and Haysi had a timeout, JJK needed a first down to run the clock out. That was a great game by the way! Back and forth from start to finish
1inStripes 933 Report Share Posted October 16, 2011 Haysi had 1 TO I believe, but was around 1:44 left on the clock or so.
sixcat 2,942 Report Share Posted October 18, 2011 Watching the GW game w a Fort Chiswell fan who was at the FC/Galax game last week that was 52-0, and he commented earlier that Galax left starters in the entire time against them, too. I am not trying to get anything going on here but this is just not true. The jv RB for Galax had over 150 yards rushing against Fort. THat is just one example of several I could bring up just based on the box score.
sportsfan 21 Report Share Posted October 18, 2011 (edited) Class act coach compliments Graham:“They played really aggressive and they were able to get back in coverage which was impressive. They’re going to be a scary team. They’re going to be real scary in the next couple years.” http://bdtonline.com/localsports/x2021666128/Maroon-Tide-washes-past-G-Men Galax coach is a class act. MED has a great new addition and the addition of Graham is going to raise the competition for the MED. I referee a lot of jv games around this area so I see players as they come up but I also get to see coaches interaction with players. Even head coaches "coaching" the jv coaches during games. Mark Dixon is a teacher of football and loves teaching football, even to his assistant coaches. He also played for Jimmie Johnson in Miami for 6 seasons so he gets accused of "It's not my job to coach your team, if you don't like me scoring, coach your defense" theory. Coach Dixon understands that players need to trust the man next to them so he playes a lot of backups beside starters which also builds tremendous depth, which Galax has.
