Hokies4Ever 23 Report Share Posted November 16, 2014 He is a very good football player. Looked like he was about 5'9 or 5'10. The game plan was very good that the Ravenswood coaches put together. They went with a no huddle and got the ball out of the QB's hands very quick. The mostly ran QB power when he ran the ball. The Bluefield secondary was confused all day on the little crossing routes that they threw.
BHS03 99 Report Share Posted November 17, 2014 My guess is that the Ravenwood coach did a little film session and saw that the Beavers were not the best pass defense team when tested. It shell shocked Bluefield. Shame on Coach Simon for not being prepared for that.
trublue 939 Report Share Posted November 17, 2014 I'm sure the RW coach did a film session but, so does every HS coaching staff playing another team in the playoffs. The Bluefield team had 5 TO's...coaches don't design those plays. Carlos Reed, one of your speedsters, suffered a serious injury in the first half and could not play in the second half. Give credit to the Beavers for fighting their way back...they made up the difference in the second half...and allowed RW to only score 1 TD in the 2nd. half. If the XP hadn't been missed...who knows the outcome of the game. RW won the first half...Bluefield won the second half...unfortunately, the missed XP came up big...and was the difference. Bluefield has an outstanding football program... a winning coach, Simon, with multiple state championships. Bluefield is recognized in the state of WV as a premier program...they beat Wayne the week before on their field...when no one was giving the Beavers a chance. Everyone on this board respects what Simon's and his staff in Bluefield have built...these are high school kids on the field and championships aren't automatic even by winning programs.
