HM3-8404 103 Report Share Posted August 29, 2015 Most: Union Richlands Va High Galax Graham Least: Marion Burton George Wythe Glenvar Tazewell In no order. Union and Richlands did well as expected, Va High/Galax/Graham all did better than I expected. The 5 on my least list did way worse than I could have believed, George Wythe and Tazewell I was really pulling for along with Graham and Galax. sportsfan
Duke2015 451 Report Share Posted August 29, 2015 Most - Union and Richlands Least- Norton and Gate City Norton stands out the most though because all the hype. Gate City will improve as the season goes just hopefully after the Union game

Union_Fan 2,155 Report Share Posted August 30, 2015 Central was very impressive last night as well Central looked solid last night, but Eastside was pretty bad. So, difficult to truly judge how good they really are. May find out next week after their game vs Ridgeview. A couple of observations... QB was Central's best player. Several solid looking kids at multiple positions. Not much speed. And I don't think I have ever seen a 300+ lb kicker at the HS level. Do you like the red helmets? I thought the black ones were sharper.
Unchained 587 Report Share Posted August 30, 2015 I like the red helmets. Clearly Union is the team to beat in the MD, but no way will the Warriors finish at the bottom of the league as folks have predicted. This team is pretty deep and versatile. They may surprise some folks. Ridge view will have their hands full Friday night
trumpet1988 289 Report Share Posted August 30, 2015 Central could be the dark horse like Lee last season. Don't overlook them.

Union_Fan 2,155 Report Share Posted August 30, 2015 Best - Union Worst - Jenkins Poor Jenkins. Just like Rye Cove last year, my heart really goes out to the kids on teams like that. Did you want to just go out on the field and help them at any time last night?

While I do think Union is the favorite, there is no guarantee they will finish undefeated in the MD this year.
BigO 316 Report Share Posted August 30, 2015 Abingdon was very impressive, even though it was a game they were supposed to win, they still looked great. Have some things to work on of course, but looked good nonetheless. Least impressive was GC....just because they are always so good.
chubzfan 16 Report Share Posted August 30, 2015 I don't expect Central to finish last, next to last is more like it. There is no way Central can gauge their selves with Eastside. Now show well against Ridgeview and I'll come back and apologize for the prediction.

Did you want to just go out on the field and help them at any time last night? I couldnt have felt worse for them. The 2nd team put it on them and the 3rd string was superior to them too. Being a big school is gonna take some getting used to for me BlueRazor and Bigrhsfan
Widespread_Panic 197 Report Share Posted August 30, 2015 I thought Abingdon looked tough on offense but their defense is suspect. I think a ground and pound team may give them fits. Their QB and skill players may be the best in SWVA though. They remind me of a PAC 12 team with a lot of offense and not much defense. John Battle is rebuilding but they weren't terrible. I think they can win 2 to 3 games this season.
