Outside of a couple of years, Union has never had the best secondary, and Betsy is eating us alive on the pass.
Against the run, however, this front 7 has the potential to be the best since 2017.
OL and backfield are much better than I was expecting.
If I'm remembering right we return all of our lineman on both sides and return kid who was injured in scrimmage and Honeycutt returns along with satterfield so running the ball we should be fine. But I'm assuming the passing game will be weak AGAIN!!!
The State Championship imo was played in the round of 16 in the Eastern Region Title Game with John Marshall and Greensville County. A repeat of the state championship will be played again when the two meet shortly in the semifinals.
That wasn't State championship game the state championship was when JM decided to play this season. Spoiler alert they'll probably win the next 10 also
I’d love to see an SWVA all-star team like this play the 6A champs. That’s an obscene amount of talent.
Playing the 6a champs ever who plays QB better get rid of the ball quick because it ain't gonna matter who the receivers are with the QB sitting on his ass the whole game
Union isn’t playing great and still beating everyone by double digits. It’s strange, not sure what it will take to get them back clicking. The potential is there, clearly.
Everything is just odd. The team is the defending state champions, hasn’t lost a league game all year and the stands look like a pick up game at Carnes Gym. Very little buzz.
You can blame than on nfhs and covid. Its to easy to sit home and watch and not worry about someone coughing on you and putting you in the hospital
That may end up being very beneficial to Union down the road, some kids had to step up with Bunch out. The one thing Union always does is play defense and it helped tonight. The weakness of the M7 is starting to concern me though, Union has yet to play a league game within 15 points.
He does talk about recruiting. Let's be honest. How many kids in SWVA can compete at that level?

Whataboutism at its finest!!! You initially asked "how many can play at that level?" Now, it's "how many have actually made an impact?" Keep moving the goal post. I'm sure you could wow us all with your major college football gridiron glory!
Cam Allen - Graham - Purdue - All Big 10 performer and will have a shot at playing on Sunday's. He has appeared in every game since the beginning of his sophomore season.
Caleb Spurlin - Galax - Appalachian State - Four-year starting Defensive Lineman at Appalachian State. Two time all Sun Belt Conference performer. Finished second for the Burlsworth Trophy, which honors the best former walk-on football player in the country.
PJ Prioleau - Radford - Virginia Tech - Redshirted as a freshman
Cole Pickett - Galax - Virginia Tech - Redshirted as a freshman
Cole Blaker - Narrows - Virginia Tech - Played significant minutes in VT's Bowl game in December.

Kaulin Parris - Bluefield - West Virginia (Transfer Portal)
Jordan Stout - Honaker - Penn State - All Big 10 punter. Semifinalist for the Ray Guy award.
Levi Forrest - Richlands - Penn State (Transfer Portal)
JJ Davis - Bluefield - Marshall (Transfer Portal?)
Isaiah Johnson - Bluefield - Arizona State - Redshirted as a freshman
Brodie Meadows - Graham - Virginia Tech - Freshman in 2022
Xayvion Bradshaw - Graham - Virginia Tech - Freshman in 2022
Benji Gosnell - Carroll County - Virginia Tech - Freshman in 2022. Had 52 D1 scholarship offers. Originally committed to Ohio State before signing with VT.
Deiyantei Powell-Woods - Bluefield - Central Michigan - Appeared in every game of his college career.
Ben Cox - Radford - Vanderbilt - Started every game but one of his college career.
Of the 20 players on this list, 6 are starters, 4 are in the transfer portal, 4 are key contributors to their teams in the very early stages of their career, 3 were redshirted, and 3 haven't began their college career yet. Again, more than you realize can play at that level and most are contributing.
I'm calling it now, as the last HOO-RAH for Richlands' coach, I fully expect a show. If things aren't going his way, he will make it all about him, Bob Knight style. He will want to go out remembered and talked about for years to come. Lights, Camera...Action!
Get to the Armory early and get your popcorn!
Is he retiring or getting canned because only Union fans are the only ones who try to fire coaches no one else does that
The real predictions to be making is when are the Union fans going to be calling for Turner and crews’ heads. Will it be by week 5? or will they survive until the inevitable second round loss? lol
I think he's an alright coach but I can see why some have a problem with the play calling but it could be worse we could be Lee H I guess
It funny everyone still says Central isn't a football school. What is it a girls basketball school? Wait I guess Wise is a baseball school since Wise used to win a lot of games under the Shupe era of some of the hardest throwing pitchers to ever come out of Virginia. Of course that all ended at the end of the 90's, you guys are good with stats when is the last time a Wise team has played for a state championship in boys baseball I am curious about that. That being said I think Coach Owens did a great job with a run first offense that he didn't try to hide and few teams could stop. An for whomever gets the spot they have a lot of good talent out there to choose from for the next 8 years if the kids stick together.
It's definitely a girls basketball school what are you talking about. It sure as hell isn't a football school. You should be proud of the girls for being so great instead of defending the football team who like Union will probably never win a championship unless we keep losing people and drop to 1A and riverheads actually moves to 2A
In a National High School Poll that ranks the top 25 PUBLIC High Schools in America called The Circuit, John Marshall of Richmond is ranked 23rd in the country, and the number one ranked public school in Virginia in Hoops. As for "The Circuit," you will hear much more about this bunch over the next decade. They are moving in on Rivals, 247, and do an impressive job with High School Hoops/AAU Stuff, Top 100 players, etc. Here is there website https://www.theseasonticket.com/. Many of you might have heard of this bunch, but I think it's about as solid of a High School Basketball National Website that I've seen.
Don't know about nation but I know they're gonna be#1 in 2a VA
Some people may think Union is the best team in M7, and that is a reasonable take. Abington and Ridgeview also have as good as a opportunity to go far this season, Ridgeview played both teams this week and lost but I thought they just didn't play how they should've, they play like they're on 2k. Lots of athletes. Abington has a 7 footer hurt, best player is Osborne in the post, other than that they are nothing. Union has Bunch who shoots 50 shots a game, Jenkins cannot shoot, Jordan has no mobility and can only shoot in place. What do you all think?
If I had Bunch he'd be shooting 60 times a game for me too. But Bunch isn't all they have Bartee is a good player and Jenkins can't shoot but does everything else good
