  1. No. When the defense commits a face mask you get the gain, the penalty and the down over! If there is a loss the ball is brought back to the line of scrimmage and then marked off but the down does not count.
  2. I can say what I want. If you don't like it, turn it off. But I never said the officials favored Richlands except on one occasion when they allowed the Richlands coaches to protest way too much without a penalty when Bluefield's coaches made one loud protest and got a penalty. There were three plays that I remember where I stated Richlands got the bad end of a call. One was the personal foul on the Bluefield sideline, the holding penalty and the fumble recovery called back to the line.
  3. 2010 they were both 2-0 when they met. Grundy won 62-14 and went on to finish 9-3. It was the last time Grundy won a playoff game defeating Tunstall 45-14.
  4. With the normal quality of teams Grayson usually fields this could be a trap game. But unfortunately Grayson is not a good team. After a slow start Graham rolls by 30+.
  5. Yes they did. How bad were they? Let me count the ways. 1. The first pass interference call on Bluefield. 2. The spots were terrible both ways. 3. the fumble Howie recovered should have been a TD for Richlands. I really don't believe he picked up the ball with a knee on the ground. Any video that shows? 4. Explain your call to the coaches and get the heck back to the game. 5. Richlands player should have also been ejected when the Bluefield player was. 6, Holding call on Richlands on the running play. Phantom call. 7. Should have let Bluefield change the decision to kick or receive due to confusion in the way the options were discussed. and again. NO game management skills at all. I really do encourage all that are interested to get into officiating. I really would if I was physically able.
  6. I believe the penalty on Richlands that moved the ball down to the 13 was for simulating the snap count or reaching out and touching the football on defense before the snap.
  7. It doesn't help that when you ask for games that you trash the schools that won't play at the same time.
  8. I don't know any more than what I put on here. If you find anything accurate before 1999 on the internet through google or yahoo you are lucky. There are some paper scans online but that's about it.
  9. If I remember correctly this game was not in the Bluefield or Bristol papers. IDKW. I found it in the Richlands paper in the old books that are kept at the Richlands newspaper offices.
  10. I suppose Richlands was looking for a 10th game and they agreed to play. In 1997 I ran into a game where Corbin, KY went to Providence to play.
  11. I feel like I've seen enough this year to have an informed opinion. 1. Abingdon 2. Pulaski 3. Richlands 4. Graham 5. James Monroe 6. Galax 7. Giles 8. Union 9. Princeton 10. Bluefield
  12. The block in the back penalty was farce. Just saw it. That official should just resign and go bowling on Friday night.
  13. Amherst just went down to Lynchburg and busted up an undefeated E. C. Glass team too. 54-14.
  14. Bluefield has changed things around from the first few games and things are running considerably better. Bluefield will have to play a great game to win but I think they hang in there. While I was pretty impressed with the Richlands offense, not so much with the defense. I predict 45-28 Richlands.
  15. I heard officially that this was the last Bluefield - Gate City game for now.
  16. That rumor has been going around for decades.

  18. They made some changes and for the most part the changes helped a lot. The papers and most of us assume future performance will be exactly like past performance and do not take into account potential to improve.
