Their schedule has been pretty consistent over the last several years. Their only new addition was us last season. Those first five games have been a staple for them for several years going now.

In Ridgeview's case, there is nothing to talk about except how bad we're getting pounded by everyone. Lol. 23-0 loss to a winless John Battle team... come on man.

He definitely is the one who beat us last season. Only thing that stopped him was himself when he turned it over twice inside the Ridgeview red zone. Our defense had no answer for him.

His mom's a very nice lady. I spoke with her at the Arby's and then she came over and spoke with me after the first Gate City/Ridgeview game this year. It's definitely a family of athletes, Mac's sister plays soccer at UT. I've never heard of these camps either... the only one I ever hear anything about is that ABCD camp where all the top recruits in the nation go to.

I would expect us to be about like last year again, really. Probably a middle of the pack seeded playoff team. Not 100% sure what the schedule will look like, but the only tough road games should be Gate City and possibly Honaker if we pick them up again this year. Union has to come to the Ridge this year as well as Paintsville. Kash Daniel graduates from Paintsville and he's a huge loss for them. Playing Jenkins again the first game will not help matters any as far as power points. The QB we have comes back again next season and will have learned a lot and be better prepared after taking over mid season last year.

Collier will be glad to know that Austin Reynolds of Ridgeview graduates this year, that's for sure. Lol.

It's too bad that Dewey Lusk is off the market. Could've had him... Lol! ;)

I watched King a couple of times in the Conference Carolinas tournament a couple of weeks ago. CJ and Patrick are carbon copies of each other.

I hear a lot of talk from Gate City folks that want her out.

I thought I heard somewhere that Clemson had offered also. Maybe not.

Yeah, he's like the Steph Curry of high school ball... Basically if you don't have a body on him, he's dangerous from anywhere inside half court.

But if he would've advanced that would've meant my Dookies would've been out. Lol.

Ridgeview girls lose both Kayla Mullins and Ivvy Gulley. That hurts. There's some good talent still on the roster with Counts, Frazier and Nyla Gulley. Maybe not a conference win next year, but still in the top half. Central has already started fueling fire by talking trash just moments after the state title game went final. Going to be a very interesting rivalry developing between Ridgeview and Central over the years, me thinks. Ridgeview boys lose Hunter Sutherland and Will Ratliff. Not sure about the other three starters. JV team made it to the championship, but I still see our boys being bottom three in the conference. Gate City will be the superior team once again, Union will be the superior runner up again and then it's everyone else.

Thanks everyone for the congrats. I was a nervous wreck sitting in the front row all game long... but we pulled it out. Thanks Union for all the class you showed in defeat. Kory's going to get you a trophy one of these days.

Hope you're right man. I think we have the tougher of the two semis though. Even though we beat Floyd by 12 at Wise, it was a hard fought, close battle. Wilson Memorial only beat Chatham by 6. Union beat them by much worse down here. I think Union beats Wilson Memorial.

I learned this in Pittsburgh when I went up for the Cubs wild card game last October... Uber is definitely your friend. Download the app, take a cheap Uber ride. Lol.

I've already been planning an agenda for next week in the case of a Ridgeview win Saturday. I plan on going up Wednesday night and staying till Sunday. I'm lucky enough to have a long time friend who lives in Glen Allen off of 295 that I can stay with. But, I am going to try to find some local breweries up that way, try some new beer. Try this Sugar Shack Donuts that my friend keeps raving about.... and take in lots of basketball.

So, I'll be the first to admit that I haven't followed basketball this year near as much as I have in years past. New girlfriend will do that to you, Lol. Duke and UNC is probably the only game I have watched in the last month. I'm going to try to start this week cause of conference tournaments and such, but anyways... last time I looked at Lunardi's bracketology, he had 9 ACC teams in the tournament. So, if VT is possibly a 6 seed, are they one of the teams that could possibly get an at large? If so, that's awesome and Buzz should be commended for that. I don't recall them being one of the nine Lunardi had in, but it's been awhile since I last checked.

I read somewhere that Greensville County has a live band in their stands that plays grunge music or some crap during the entire game at their place. Hope they're not coming to Wise Saturday with their girls. To me, this type of activity during games seems like it would be prohibited by the VHSL, since they made an announcement over at UVa-Wise last week that stomping your feet in the stands was prohibited.

That's why you go up the night before... Lol. If Ridgeview gets to the semis, I am going up on Wednesday night. Even though we would play a late afternoon game on the Thursday, I want to catch all the hoops I can. Looking at Google Maps, it looks like the Siegel Center is right in the heart of Richmond at the interchange of 95 and 64... I imagine traffic through there is a nightmare.

Chatham girls are horrific as well. Figure they'll bow out with their third straight loss against Wilson Memorial.

They actually started Ridgeview/Floyd County last night about 10-15 minutes early. They started it promptly 20 minutes after the Union/Chatham final buzzer... So, a warning to the wise, if you're only showing up for the late game tomorrow night, be sure to get there by 7:30. Same goes for Saturday.

So, it's a safe bet they will do it again then if they both win/lose tomorrow night. So, Wise will probably only have two games on Saturday.
