  1. They will be... His are definitely incorrect or he's just trying to predict what they will be or something. Only matchups set in stone at this point are: M7 #4 John Battle at SWD #1 Graham in boys and M7 #4 Gate City at SWD #1 Virginia High in girls
  2. Girls: Monday February 12 1 Wise Central (bye) 5 Union 50 at 4 Gate City 21 6 John Battle 39 at 3 Abingdon 71 7 Lee High 35 at 2 Ridgeview 72 Semifinals Wednesday February 14 at Wise Central: 2 Ridgeview 51 vs. 3 Abingdon 46 1 Wise Central 45 vs. 5 Union 22 Finals and Consolation Friday February 16 at Wise Central Consolation: 3 Abingdon vs. 5 Union 6:00 Finals: 1 Wise Central vs. 2 Ridgeview 7:30 Boys: Tuesday February 13 1 Gate City (bye) 5 Abingdon 60 at 4 John Battle 52 6 Ridgeview 51 at 3 Union 66 7 Lee High 60 at 2 Wise Central 78 Semifinals Thursday February 15 at Gate City 2 Wise Central vs. 3 Union 1 Gate City vs. 5 Abingdon Finals and Consolation Saturday February 17 at Gate City
  3. Haysi don't exist anymore to give them any competition in the BDD. Lol
  4. Well, apparently Union can redeem themselves and still get a region home game if they advance to the M7 finals... hope Ridgeview gives em hell on Tuesday though. Lol
  5. SWD/Grayson bids are by power points including tournament games I believe. M7 bids are by the semifinalists in district tournament apparently as they are playing consolation games in the M7 tournament. Since Abingdon is most likely to advance in the girls, not sure how the 4th M7 girls team will be selected.
  6. I wished Adkins of Ridgeview would give up basketball even though he has dunked twice in JV games this year. Now he's hurt his ankle and is on crutches. :(
  7. Devastating loss here as this possibly now sends Union on the road in first round of Region D to Grayson County or Graham.
  8. Unless Central loses to Abingdon tonight, there won't be a coin flip now. Lol
  9. Seen that both Dalton Mullins of Wise Central and Lane Scarbrough of John Battle signed with Carson Newman. Not D1 ball, but not bad either. Carson Newman's Twitter lists Mullins as QB which surprised me, figured they would need him more for defense.
  10. I was told the other night by a Ridgeview girls assistant that all ties in the actual district standings NOT for first place are decided by a coin flip as far as where you'll be seeded in the district tournament. Because in girls, if Central beats Abingdon then us and Abingdon are in the same boat where we'll be tied for second with them. If Abingdon beats Central, then they tie for first and have to play a one game playoff to decide the regular season champion.
  11. So, this leaves them tied for 2nd in the district correct? So, unless something wacky happens Friday, a coin flip will decide the 2 and 3 seeds. Don't think it will matter in the grand scheme of things, because both will get a first round home game and wind up playing each other in the semifinals, regardless, but still interesting.
  12. That and the Ridgeview game should be a #SCTop10 filler all by itself, I'm afraid.
  13. Won't hear me complain one bit tomorrow night. An L is an L whether it's by 2 points or 60 as may very well be the case tomorrow night. I just wonder if this exact same scenario won't play itself out come baseball season, just in reverse, because everyone will be whining about Abingdon running up the score in baseball.
  14. Seth Phillips (the good WR) is also pretty good hoopster too apparently. On a side note, seen he either got an offer or accepted an offer from UVa-Wise, so congrats go out to him.
  15. I would have liked to listen to you and Lloyd call that Grundy/Ridgeview game this past season, just to hear the "other" side call the game. WDIC does a good job for the most part, only thing I don't like is that when they have a timeout, they fail to mention the score and time when they go to break. I think that should be a necessity if you're doing radio.
  16. I was beginning to wonder how they managed to work that out since this past year was the 1st year in the 2 year rotation, but it seems like LB did play one of their opponents twice last season in the regular season. Northside maybe? So I guess that's how they were able to work it out. Anyways, that might be a fun game. Hope that falls on the Ridgeview bye week.
  17. Lol. I think I know who you are. Delete! Delete! Delete! Delete!
  18. Already established that. Did you read the rest of the thread?
  19. Yep, my guess is someone is going to have to go there, because I don't see them falling out of the top 4.
  20. There are no "rider" points in Region D basketball, so it doesn't matter who your opponents have played.
  21. Thanks for that. I knew Bluefield was 2A. Had no clue about the other WV teams.
  22. Win vs. 1A = 3 points, 2A = 6 points and so on and so on Loss vs. 1A = 1 point, 2A = 2 points and so on and so on FWIW, it was a SWD assistant that gave me the info, who is a friend of mine. I used the results threads on the site to get the totals, so if anything is off there, then obviously something will be off here. Also, to add I was told the tournament will be a M7 vs. SWD/MED format for the quarterfinals at higher seed site: M71 vs. SM4, M72 vs. SM3, M73 at SM2, and M74 at SM1 Using that logic as of yesterday it would have been Lebanon at Gate City, Richlands at Battle, Union at Grayson County and Wise Central at Graham for boys and Marion at Wise Central, Tazewell at Ridgeview, Union at Virginia High and Gate City at Lebanon in girls.
  23. Same way Ridgeview can be #1 in the power points in football for several weeks, even though they were second in the district. Lol In this situation though, I believe it is because Battle has played one less game and has one less loss than Union.
  24. My friend just told me that only up to 4 teams from 1 district can make it, so it looks like Battle girls is out of luck even if they do finish in the top 8 overall. So, I am guessing if that is the case then that leaves Marion and Richlands and Graham going for the last spot. Also of note is apparently there are no "rider" or bonus points in play with this particular system either for opponent's W/L. Just 3 points per win X class (1A = 3 points, 2A = 6 points etc.) and 1 point per loss X class (1A = 1 point, 2A = 2 points, etc.)
  25. So, I was talking to an assistant coach in the region last night who I am good friends with, who gave me the supposed formula for calculating the basketball power points. For Region D anyway. Using the formula he gave me and the schedules and results that @Beamerball has posted, I have come up with my best guess as to what the 2D power points are as he we head down the home stretch of games. These are as of completion of the Ridgeview/Union game from last night. Couple of notes: I guessed at a lot of the out of state opponents, especially Gate City's Arby's opponents and Central girl's Disney opponents. Also, I am basing this off of an average like football and not the total number of points, because there is no way all teams are going to play the same number of games. Region 2D Boys (as of 1/30/18): Gate City 156 9.17647 Graham 88 5.5 John Battle 72 4.5 Grayson County 84 4.42105 Union 75 4.41176 Richlands 65 4.0625 Lebanon 66 3.66667 Wise Central 60 3.52941 Marion 62 3.44444 Virginia High 55 3.23529 Ridgeview 51 3.0 Lee High 32 2.13333 Tazewell 29 1.93333 Region 2D Girls (as of 1/30/18): Wise Central 101 5.61111 Ridgeview 80 4.44444 Virginia High 63 4.2 Lebanon 74 4.11111 Gate City 72 4.0 Union 68 4.0 Tazewell 52 3.25 John Battle 45 2.8125 Marion 36 2.76923 Richlands 42 2.47059 Graham 41 2.41176 Grayson County 39 2.05263 Lee High 34 2.0
