  1. MBA won 28-27! MBA is a solid program that produces a ton of D1 athletes. Good for your friends son.
  2. SXSW

    Flu

No chest thumping just stating the facts. You can go back and find the thread and read it for yourself! I don't live my life based on a high school sports I have far too many other priorities.
  3. SXSW

    Flu

The first time Gate City beat Union they made "lucky plays" the playoff loss is because of the "flu" you all will have a year to think up the next excuse!
  4. My bracket has Coalfield, Clay County, McKenzie and Peabody advancing in 1A. Monterey, Tyner, Lewis County and Huntington in 2A. Alcoa, Sweetwater, Smith County and Covington in 3A Greeneville gets the nod until Anderson County actually beats them, Red Bank (my sister-in-law's school) Pearl Cohn and Haywood (who is really good) in 4A. Knox West, Powell, Nolensville and Henry County in 5A and Maryville, Oakland, Cane Ridge and Germantown in 6A In Division 2. FCS over USJ and Jackson Christian over Nashville Christian in 1A, Chattanooga Christian over CPA and Lipscomb (the best team in the state in any class) over Webb in 2A and MBA over McCallie and Brentwood over Baylor in 3A.
  5. We held our son back but athletics had nothing to do with it. It was all about maturity and being constantly behind in his studies. It worked well for him, he is 30 has three college degrees and makes 120k a year and has a beautiful wife, who had her masters at 24, and the best grandson that has ever lived! Holding him back accomplished everything it was suppose to do!
  6. Evidently you have watched zero film on GC, they can throw it and throw it well, when they want to! I don't look for the Devils to win but I don't believe they will get blown out either.

  8. I know one reason that's never going to be true that the teams they lost to are just better than they were!
  9. This thread has the potential to go as long as the Chris Akers thread from a few years ago! I am proud of the Blue Devils they don't do anything extraordinary except grind out wins. Are they state championship contenders, NO! not even close. They have 8 wins and have helped to restore the brand and should be at least decent for the next few seasons. To all the Union supporters the sun will come up tomorrow and be careful what you wish for because you just might get it. You are one bad hire from years of being irrelevant!

  11. Every year people from Central get on the message board and proclaim that. 1. They have this "super group" of athletes coming. 2. They are going to dominate the next season 3. Not just in football but every sport. Same post every year, same results every year!
  12. West is the best team in the State regardless of Class in Division 1. Lipscomb Academy is the best team in Division 2!
  13. You are right, I got it wrong! My bad!
  14. The 2022 TSSAA playoffs begin Friday across all 9 classifications. With reclassification taking place in 2023 the teams and regions will be different next season. 1A and 2A have the makings to be good playoffs, 3A's is Alcoa's to lose. 4A should be Haywood out of the west verses Greeneville or Anderson County. 5A is Knox West's to lose and 6A should belong to Oakland come December. 15. Last Year in the TSSAA Playoffs a total of 34 Division 1 school (public schools) and 7 Division 2 ( private schools) made the playoffs with losing records. It happens every year and will continue to happen till the greed stops and common sense takes over (which means it will be here forever) I am totally old school on the playoff only the top 2 from each district should get in and cross bracket the state after the first round. 4 rounds of playoffs and you are done by Thanksgiving.
  16. And burgers from Teddy's
  17. My List. 1989 Gate City vs. Sullivan North. North was ahead 14-0 with a little under 5:00 minutes to play and GC scored two touchdowns and a 2 pt. conversion to steal at win in Bloomingdale! Took my future wife to her first GC game here too! 33 years and she is still around. 2010 Appalachia vs. Powell Valley. They always played on GC's bye week and me and my boys always went to watch, what a game! Genuine hate for each other and total respect for the game of football! 2014 Gate City vs. Richlands in the playoffs. When it was over all the fans from both teams just stood there staring at each other after witnessing what they had saw! Never been at a game that good and didn't leave mad or upset just a pure classic! And number 1 on my list. Jefferson Forrest vs. Gate City in the 1997 State Semi-Final. The miracle FG! I was in the stands and began to hum the song "There Will Be Miracles" from the movie Price Of Egypt as the FG cleared the crossbar by inches and the upright by a foot! The next week was academic in the State Championship against Broadway! Honorable Mention. The 1994 Gate City at William Campbell state semi-final.
  18. You had to have some thick skin on that board! That was total brutality at times!
  19. CAUTION! CAUTION! CAUTION! Richlands fans, and alums please caution. You are one wrong move coaching wise to being in a dark place for a long time, just ask your friends from Gate City! Before you run someone off please consider the consequences!
  20. Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda. Humble Pie sometimes comes filled with that "weirdness filling"!
  21. DB always picks up a good transfer in the offseason. Wink, Wink!
  22. I know the Radford deal is up and I think Marion is too! Everything else is set I believe. I think that, as long as, Richlands wants to play Gate City will plat them. Lebanon just started this year and that was a 2 year cycle and if GC is good you want that gate that the game brings because they travel well.
  23. Have your AD call Gate City's AD they need games for next year!
