Have you ever been to a Graham game that wasn't beaver? Fans don't show up for them even in the playoffs. They can be great and we can suck or be so-so and Taz fans still outnumber them.
Question for ya'll. How does one improve the Little Leagues or keep them from low turn out? What methods can the Head Coach of the High School use or what tools are used to increase turnout and growth? I'm asking because I've never looked into it and simply don't know how they do it. For example at GC? why the massive turnaround in the Little Leagues? Is it by chance, luck, just the way ebbs and flows of the local populations and their preferences go? Is it absolutely not by chance or luck or an ebb or flow, but is it leadership, or a combo of both related to the increase compared to a few years ago? UVA Observer wrote about how Richlands Little Leagues were in trouble at the end of Mance's timeframe as coach (while he was still Head Coach). Why? Was this on Mance, chance, luck, etc? Thanks in advance.
Be involved. From the players/cheerleaders, parents, coaches, and officers. Everyone has to be involved and on the same page for it to grow. Ego and the HS glory days are left at the door. If you can show them that the future is bright then they will help see it through.
I think Tazewell is slated to get turf and Richlands is getting theirs replaced.
I don’t believe Tazewell will get turf. Too many wanting a full service track and soccer field to go along with it. There’s not enough room to make all that happen. I hear they’ll re-sod and go from there. I like the grass field, one of the better ones around.
Tazewell should have all LBs back so that should help the middle for depth and support the back four. If the line play on both sides do their jobs then it will be a tough game. Being able to move personnel in the middle 3 or 4 to play LB/DE is an advantage versus having the same kids locked in that position, my bleacher Coach opinion. Go Dogs.
I think it’s safe to say that Tazewell fans have their own opinion on the coaching and player treatment, either side someone will defend that argument which is fair. Next season will be interesting because most, if not all, kids that Harris has coached since MS will have graduated. There will be new strengths to be found and new kids to step up.
In my opinion, doesn’t matter to me if teams want a parade or trophy for games, players, etc. I believe that if the community is involved and wants to promote or celebrate these wins then so be it. I highly doubt any HC would ask for the town for a parade. As long as they community wants it then go for it, let the players, cheerleaders, band and everyone else involved enjoy it. Like someone stated earlier, enjoy now and let the past be the past.
Defense will be better, especially the run defense. Worked on depth and trying kids at different positions at Radford. Should be fun to watch this year.
Heard Richlands won this tournament. Don’t know the scores or specifics, though.
It was actually a good tournament. Not sure of all the scores or anything but there are some athletes out there. I can say that Union doesn’t miss any weight lifting days!
Turf approved for all 3 Tazewell County Schools.
