Smith may be the best HC in 2A. His teams are successful at the highest level year after year and his team's never beat themselves. I think that's the best accolade you could give a coach, that his team's always show up and never beat themselves.
I have to respectfully disagree, Appo has beat themselves a few times.

Appomattox’s fans were top notch. And I have all the respect in the world for their coach. After the Richlands @ Appo quarterfinal — he walked all the way across the field to our fence and clapped to our fans and thanked us for coming and for have what he called “the best atmosphere he’s ever seen in high school.” You could tell it was genuine, too.
I’m 100% pulling for Appo tomorrow.

No place on gods earth for that kind of behavior. I can fully understand players getting chippy with emotions going out of control. Been there done that. But for fans whom have only come to watch a game and not worked their butt off like the players have is no excuse.

Agreed Graham had a good showing. I personally was rather upset we were not full on Appo side. Its been a chore this year to pack the stands. Hoot we traveled Bullit park 2 years ago and i was dreading the trip to ridgeview this year. But i would have had it worked out that way.
For our Union friends, Appo came over and told the band to quit playing while they’re on offense. I guess we’re getting a little karma for when y’all came to Graham.
One of the referees came and told our band director not to play during live play before game even started. So i expect it was a ref that told your band the same thing!
I have no problem with Appo other than the dancing around and stuff like that...the 4 times Giles & Appomattox have played the best team won all 4 times.
I personally don't care who wins this game...and I don't root for region teams just because they are in the same region as Giles...just hope it's a good game for people to watch at the game
Agree...I meant bullshit on the VHSL making this woman give them money for what I assume is something she is doing simply for people not able to make the game...and I hope she isn't making money off it...I doubt she is but you never know
She makes nothing from it and it actually cost her to travel to games and she has no kids on the team.
Because the VHSL runs the playoffs. And they plainly say that you cannot broadcast games without a broadcasting fee.
I’m glad she got caught. I worked on a radio broadcast and if we had to pay to broadcast those games to people — it’s only fair that she does as well.
And her community got their say and helped her raise the money to broadcast it. That’s great! Glad it was all resolved in the right

I just watched the 2nd half of the 2016 Appo vs Union game last night. Ill look again tonight because Appo did pull starters in the 3rd, maybe not a wholesale swap but did pull them.
I saw where somebody posted 6. Then went back to confirm and saw 13 seniors. Graham will be young next season with some talent but this year is a better chance to do well for them.
Appomattox is a young team that should return a loaded team next year. No telling what kids will do tho as some decided not to play this year leaving us with a smaller team that could have given us greater depth and a much more dangerous team.
Ive said it before and will say again dome some folks have really overhyped some teams and as of late Appo. Yes we are good, state championship good? I dunno i have been shaking my head and looking at the ground all season. I will say dont judge Appo on the loss to bucktown there were some legit players for Appo not able to play at that time. Appo will give any team in 2a a good game, but will they win? Id like to think so but im not willing to bet on it.
Being a big fan of Appo for many years and watching them thru thick and thin i have to say some people have over hyped my Raiders. Yes we lost to Buckingham, no excuses from me they were the better team that night at that time. Appo is a young team same as last year, alot of growing to do yet. Smaller sqaud than past few years so staying healthy is pinnacle. My honest opinion Appo will win region C. After that im scared to try to guess. Too many things can go wrong and being young pressure could get them like it did last year.
Appo definitely seems to be hitting their stride and Radford seems to be going in reverse. Radford will likely clinch the #1 seed as they should win out against a weak district but I agree Appo is the favorite right now.
The top 4 in 2D would likely beat Radford so I’m sure a team from that region represents the west. I’m not sure what the East has especially with Goochland going to 3A. I know that Buckingham returned 20 starters and put the smack down on a solid Appomattox team so they could be an issue.
Appomattox was without 3 starters for first 3 games, and stil have 2 additional starters out on injuries. Looks like Appo is finding their groove now tho. Im not real sure if the top teams in C right now are what their record shows. Look for Appo to make some big noise rest of the season.
Totally agree. It's just the fact that SWVA has a team in the final, and the out east guys can not stand the fact that their teams are getting thumped. Way to go Graham, and hope you guys enjoy this championship. Also glad that an old friend, (Dennis Palmer) can enjoy another state championship, he really improved the Gmen defense throughout this year. Good job to all of the coaches and players. Gmen fans please enjoy this championship at least until you have to play Richlands again, can't wait for August 2019 to get here. Go BLUES!!! Yeah, I had to say it.
Hey im an Appo fan and fully said Graham would stomp Goochland. Goochland goes undefeated often because they dont play tough teams not because they are good.
