  1. So hypothetical with this region format,

You could close union and Lee create a school in Dryden and service both, follow that by closing wise central and eastside and halfway between those 2 schools create a school and essentially created 2 schools to replace 4?

Don't burn me at the stack, I am just using an example to understand this region format. On paper that sounds logical, but in reality, politics and vhsl classification would stop this before it ever happened.

  2. Clinch is actually part of Hawkins County.

got you covered 2 posts before :) and hancock is the Indians not the hornet from lewisberg ky,

also another bordering county is Clairborne which has the tazewell bulldogs and the consolidated school of cumberland gap, who is made up of the forge Ridge dragons green and white and powell valley indians orange

    Clairborne

    Tazewell bulldogs navy

Cumberland gap Panthers - light blue black

    -Forge Ridge Dragons green

    -Powell Valley Indians orange

  3. Alright I got my facts straight from my mother, she is from and educated at hancock co, hancock county high is and has always been the ONLY high school in the county, with emphasis. They are the Indians

Clinch is also blue and white not red and black.

  4. Grainger high school is a new version of Rutledge in grainger County. It pulls from joppa, bean station mostly, basically anything down 11e, dixieland delight road.

It was built and finished the fall of 2009. Dated a girl from there who was the last group of Rutledge pioneers

It is one of two school in Grainger. Washburn being the other.

What formed it, I can't remember, but if I was guessing bean station and Rutledge, but Rutledge served as that side of county's hs for many many years. Don't quote me on that, we are talking like 20 30s ish

  5. Fundraising is at an all time high, and critical for our sports to continue. We pump every dime we can into our programs. I coach girls bb at twhs, and right now we are sitting in a decent spot, We have enough to purchase new uniforms and for the first time in a long time we actually bought the team shoes. But I have put in more time than I like to think about.

    Added:

I do everything I can to save money. I am janitor, carpenter, welder, and cook while being jv hc, varsity ac, and boys varsity ac.

  6. I agree that JSB was shafted. But then again it's better for GC that way we dodge Wise Central's bull crap.

And GC won't move the game. They won the regular season and that means you get to host the tournament. GC wants the home court advantage and rather have 2,000 people crammed into the Devils' Den rather than have 2,000 people spread out like they were at UVA-Wise. To be honest the atmosphere at GC was 10 times better than it was at UVA-Wise.

odd way too look at it, as a coach I would rather have the neutral court and prepare for a late season run. Senior night has come and gone it's tourney time. To each his own
  7. Got two interjections

I am a coach and I sent a clear message at the beginning of the season. No one is to acknowledge another teams players or coaching staff. If this happen, it's immediate dismissal. It has worked well so far.

If a player is at an any game, they are under the direct supervisor of the school's officials (coach) and can not leave their supervision until after the game or are released to a guardian. Therefore as a coach you must decide where is an appropriate place to supervise this individual. Wrong or right? I do not know but, this my rationale to form a educated assumption.

I wish Richlands a safe trip and hope this individual is forgiven for his mistake.

  8. Former Lee High/PV coach, Jerry Myers, is back in Lee also. He's coaching the Thomas Walker boys this season. Coached Volunteer girls for several years most recently.

The community feeling Myers has established with TWHS basketball is an amazing. We are blessed to have him on our sidelines.

First post, I appreciate this site and everything done to assist SWVA sports. I'll try to rely scores when possible to assist with the coverage or TWHS sports.
