Gosh, this thread has encompassed the actions of fans on social media, politicians moving the Chilhowie/Galax game, concession stands, sinkholes.  Not mentioned is Haley's Comet and the effect the upcoming game has on the stock market.

Filtering through all of this, I have been listening to Chilhowie's playoff games and have become a fan of the team.  I am pulling for them to bring home the championship trophy Saturday.  I have watched my Blues (Richlands) in their championship games and there is nothing like it, the joy of winning and  yes, the heartbreak of defeat.  The work put in to get to this culmination of their season, is no small task.  Hats off to the Chilhowie Warriors and coaching staff.

GOD BLESS AND SAFE TRAVELS TO ALL HEADING TO SALEM.[/b]

Point taken, absolutely not every fan. My apologies for lumping all fans together. It's a shame the disgruntled were most vocal. I even had people that I know personally and are friends with on FB who for all practical purposes are good, rational folks , post crazy ridiculousness. To be honest, every team has "those" types of fans.

I agree. It is sad how a few can make a community look bad but all in all most of the fans in this community just want to support the players. I just want people to know that this is all about the team and to look over the petty stuff from past weeks. The ones that make the most noise are usually the ones that don't even have a dog in the fight. Let's just bring 2 state titles back to SWVA.

Searched Chilhowie Football Field on Facebook. They should be embarrassed! Blaming Galax accusing VHSL of showing favoritism to visiting team. Everyone will remember their pettiness and whining over a game they could have won just as easily at E & H. I still want them to bring 1A title home to SWVA especially for their players but their fan base is as you said ridiculous!

It wasn't everyone because the Warriors have a lot of fans. I for one didn't care where they played so I didn't do any whining. Or did I act childish. And it wasn't their whole fan base. I understand what a few bad apples do but the way things are worded should be thought of before accusing everyone.

Nope,Im not from Saltvegas..Look at the Helmet..🙄🙄..If you have any passing attack you can beat Chilhowie..You also won't be playing in the comforts of home.Even up 27 points you still got a break and I've saw it first hand how that works.

I guess that passing attack theory didn't pan out.

Funny how the rivalry stays true there but in Tazewell Co most everybody pulls for whoever is still going in the county

I wish that was true here...however I think it most from around the county will support the Warriors. I for one would pull anyone in the area to do good and to pull out a win. But you have some that can't put away childish rivalries away for the better of sportmanship and surrounding communities.

Bottom line is had Narrows pulled off the upset last week Chilhowie would not have complained a bit about the game being moved to E&H. For the 1st time this year I think the Warriors are somewhat worried about an opponent. IMO

That's what most are overlooking. The players themselves could care less where they play at. The kids aren't the ones that made the calls or whined about going to Emory. So of course they may have some concerns or a bit of nerves but what young player wouldn't. But they aren't afraid or worried, they are confident in their skills and they know they can play great ball. It's people that don't play making a big deal out of the move.

What a complete joke and major distraction for those kids from Chilhowie.  Galax has to have all of the motivation in the world now.  Chilhowie fans, staff, and administration are acting like moving a game from a muddy field to a college stadium with wonderful facilities to a field with sinkholes and giant rocks in the corner of the end zone with pine trees two feet from the pylons is a great idea.  Also why did they go practice at Emory & Henry?  I smell ego city because VHSL moved it to Emory without consulting with them first.  I hope all that complained are happy with the outcome.  I hate it for those kids especially the seniors.  Reminds me of Tennessee trying to hire Greg Schiano lol!

    I agree 100%

Look I understand your and their concerns and disappointment.  Although the post I have seen in social media this morning about calling Galax a bunch #$$##0because they didn't want to play in the mud and they are the reason it got moved is petty and simply not the case. That's not how the VHSL works, three games got moved. I think the surrounding areas would be more simpathetic to the communities complaints if all that was not being spewed all over social media. Galax had no say in it, the school admins no this to be true yet they continue to let their community think this is the case. Look Galax beat us twice this year and I am all for Chilhowie getting the win, although people saying what they are social media is just making Chilhowie look bad. To be honest it is placing an ugly blemish on what is a stellar moment  for your community. I completely get the financial impact to the community, I heard Galax had went out and spent a couple of thousand dollars on new cleats for their players just for this game.

I am sure their is people on here from Chilhowies administration reading this, so step up and ensure the misplaced anger at the fans of Galax is placed where it should be on the VHSL.

Sorry rant over and good luck.

Hopefully the whole community isn't judge by a couple of over hyped ranting of a few people. Some have legitimate opinions but some just blow it way out of proportion. As for me, as a Warrior fan and parent, it doesn't matter where it is played. I feel Chilhowie will win either place. I'm sure the seniors would have like to have known that last week was the last time that they would be playing in Warrior stadium. It would have probably made that win must more sweeter. But ever community has those over the top ranters. I know it was VHSL decision but I sure, after hearing about the field and seeing pictures, there were some calls for concern made. But I'm not going as far to say it was another community that caused the decision.

  10. Which semi-final match up is the most intriguing to you?

Also with the field condition talk going on this year in the playoffs, how do feel about moving the games to different locations? Do you feel that it gives up some of the home field advantage?

  11. I do believe that every team that Chilhowie played this year, except for a couple of team, had a passing attack and Chilhowie won. I would say that the pass defense is a dent in their armor but it won't lose it for them. They get after the qb and don't give him much time to throw. The game is being held in Chilhowie.
