That field was the equivalent of Marion having 13 on defense. How else could we have held Graham to 25 points?
-
The Warrior faithful deserves to take a moment and soak this in. 10-0 seasons are rare for many schools and Chilhowie has just done it! Enjoy the weekend and get ready for the second season.
-
Yes. The visitors' bleachers are portable and moved for baseball.
-
The bad news continues for Marion. Central edges us for the final playoff spot. Now, we've lost whatever grass we had left on the field. I don't see us grazing any cattle on it before June.
-
The autumn leaves are less colorful this year. Experts say it was from a warmer than usual September; however, a few people are blaming Chris Akers. Who should I believe?

Fiser's tenacity from wrestling translates well into football.

I wasn't even thinking GC. I wouldn't see that as a good match for either party. GC needs a coach with boundless energy who is still young enough to live, eat , and breathe Blue Devil Football.
-
Graham Clark is a great coach and an even better person. He's still beloved by many from his days back in Chilhowie.
-
As a Hokie fan, this may be my last good memory of 2018.
-
I didn't intend to diminish this accomplishment, but I can see your point as I reread my analogy. Securing the school's first playoff berth is commendable and Phil Robbins deserves the credit. His only district losses in '81 were to Narrows and Giles, which meant he beat both Radford and Blacksburg. The former New River District was comparable in difficulty to the old SWD and LPD. Each season Robbins was matching wits with other future HOF coaches in Lineburg, Crist, and Ragsdale.

So, in your opinion...Tim Cook > Steve Jobs? Because it's much harder to maintain Apple's success than build it.
-
I'll use a business analogy to describe Phil Robbins. He became the manager of an underperforming store (John Battle), but couldn't turn a profit in six years. He was then hired to manage the Christiansburg store for the next six years and turned a small profit (one playoff loss). Next, he was hired to manage the Powell Valley store where the previous manager (Bolling) had turned the store from average into the best performing store in the state. Robbins continued to successfully manage the store for the next 20+ years.
-
The 2018 team is one of the best ever to come out of Chilhowie.
I'd rank them alongside 1971, 1980, 2001, and 2010.
-
James Bolling took a basketball school, that played in the toughest football district in Single A, and built it into a juggernaut.
Phil Robbins inherited the defending State Champs with five players who made all-state.
-
I'll give you three other names (Tom Turner, James Bolling, and Jim Riggs) and say that Phil Robbins is neither at the top nor the bottom of the list.

I'm not afraid to defend Phil Robbins. He was among the Top 3 football coaches in Wise County.
-
Whenever Mance does step down, who would be your new dream HC not named Thad Wells?
-
Keep in mind that was Phil Robbins' record in his first three years at PV. The former Vikings' HC, James Bolling, handed him the keys to a Cadillac. Robbins' coaching career began in a rather inauspicious fashion at John Battle and Christiansburg with a record of 47-70-5. fourseasonsfootball.com

Advertisers like eyeballs and will pay if there are enough of them. I'm guessing most of the schools in the WCYB viewing area couldn't generate the necessary viewership to pay the costs.
-
I neglected to mention @Beamerball by name. He's been doing a great job for years. He manages to find scores from obscure games where media coverage and internet service are scarce.
