I wondered the same thing in 01 in Lynchburg against Harrisonburg. I think Radford's defense was under-estimated after Glenvar. Graham will be right in the mix again next season. They should have a good mix of power-run with Jennings and a strong passing attack with most of that big line returning. Defensively, they will be solid too. I think G. Palmer will factor in more on the offensive side of the ball next season, both as a runner and a receiver. Clements will be hard to replace, but Graham has some young guys coming back that will produce and there won't be that one guy to key on. I'm excited to see how Caleb Fix comes along and I think they could utilize Blake Graham more on offense, other then the occasional deep ball thrown his way.
On to basketball!! Let's all play for runner up to John Marshall!!
They should give Floyd more carries. He had a monster game at RB last year against Virginia High and his freshman year at Bluefield he carried the ball a lot. Oh and it's Cambel Fix.
McDonald is a stud as well. When I watched him against Union he made so many open field tackles that could've went for touchdowns. I know he caught a lot of TD's this season as well from Creasy.
I agree. No reason there shouldn't be 4 like NC. Once you get up in the higher classifications I don't think there's much of a drop off between divisions anyway. I don't know what some schools enrollments are but I'd imagine Stone Bridge and Maury should be in the highest level of VA football.
So Riverheads moves up to 2A and will most likely win. Phoebus goes up to 4A and is a pretty safe bet to win. Highland Springs moves up and should be a battle against Freedom.
I know a lot of posters on here were never really sold on them. I knew they were legit when they throttled Va High and Graham only beat them by a score and I knew when they throttled a very good Allegheny team. I guess they logic was Crist would blow it like he has before.
Grahams defense has played more than well enough to win today. Gave Radford a short field on the punt and that's 2 Tds for Radford. They did a masterful job on Clark. The Difference in this game has been Graham's inability to move the ball (at all) in the second half.
Nailed it. Graham’s defense has been stout but offense not so much.
Princeton has had a great season but it ends here. I'd be surprised if it's within 40. Martinsburg just plays a different level of football than the rest of the state. I think Princeton can build off this and it's only up from here. They should benefit when WV goes to 4 classes for football.
Not on the last Clements TD run but the one before that I think the refs missed a hold and I’m a Graham fan. Two very good teams who have potential to win state and it sucks someone has to lose.
Mount Airy has tied the score at 21 midway through the 3rd quarter.
ER is big, physical and extremely athletic. They have a monster DT causing chaos in the middle of the MA offensive line. He’s listed at 6’-4” and 305 pounds. He looks like Lebron James in pads.
I believe they have a D1 lineman. Can't remember where he's committed to.
It looks like Bridgeport is smaller in school population than Princeton. Pretty impressive how this bunch is putting up wins like this against several teams who often have hundreds of more kids.
Bridgeport was in AA a few years ago when they beat Bluefield in the state championship 2019. I think they moved up after that year. Bluefield beat them in back to back semis in 2017 and 2018. I think they were in AAA until around 2012 and went down and moved back up again.
