Sach, I may be wrong, but didn't Lebanon beat Union by 7 or 8 points? I could be wrong, but thought they did. Also, I think Honaker split beat Lebanon and Union and also lost to Lebanon and Union. Honakers most impressive game is a narrow loss to Carroll County and Carroll is darn good. These scores are Maxpreps though, so u know what that means. If the scores are correct, there's a decent argument for Honaker being in the top 3 in this poll and not 5th.

You are probably right, I must have missed that.

Who’s their go to guy? Fix?

Blake Graham and Marquel Ray are the go to guys for Graham, in my opinion.  Ray is the leader on the floor, he dictates the offensive play, very good ball handler and decision maker, good defender with good hands, causes turnovers..  Blake  can score and is very scrappy and plays good defense, can make steals and block shots.  Fix contributes quite a bit for a freshman, but he along with G. Palmer (another freshman) and a few others all contribute about the same, good group of players that rotate in and out without any noticeable drop off.

  3. Graham is at Bluefield tonight in the old high school gym.  I don't think it has the capacity to hold the crowd to show up.  I hear when they get to 1000, they are going to turn folks away.  Should be interesting to see how Graham stacks up.  Bluefield always fields a good basketball team and this year is no exception.  Still seems like Graham isn't in basketball shape yet, from what I've watched.  They play Bluefield again in a couple weeks, that might be a better indicator.

Virginia is watered down in my opinion. We should have at most, 5 classifications. Virginia has 317 schools playing football versus 125 in West Virginia. With only 125 schools, 4 classifications seems quite odd to me but then again, so does 6 classification with 317 schools so, what do I know?

I think the thing that waters it down is allowing so many teams in the playoffs.  I'm ok with 6 classificaitons, 5 may be better, but having so many teams in the playoffs waters it down imo.

  5. IN addition to basketball, football, cheer, softball, volleyball, baseball and volleyball will all have 4 classifications.  Below is a link to the final competition model (classifications).

Exactly why I posted early on this thread that a clean house was needed and a coach from outside the area needed to be hired, but I disagree with you on Davis bring a yes man, I think he has already proved he plays talent from his coaching in other sports.  The main thing I see is he has to have assistants and supporters who are not yes men to the TCSB members who want to be involved. Let the guy coach next year and if it proves he is that yes man doing lip service for the higher ups it will show quickly.

As far as the parade comment, you're in the wrong town, Tazewell is the town that has all the parades. LOL!!!

Yeah, no parades when you go 0-10.  Just a parade of coaches leaving over at RHS the past few years (not just football).

Union returns 9 on the offensive side, and 7 on the defensive side. Biggest? Who plays qb........if Turner find reys replacement via the portal or goes with Bostic or the soph Hall. Time will tell. According to Ridgeview folks next year is their year and we all know what Bluefield I mean Graham will have.

You mean "the greater Bluefield area", make sure you get it right!!

I think Graham's defense will be flat out nasty next year.  Looking forward to see how Cambell Fix is utilized on offense. Watched him play basketball the other night, that kid is very athletic and fast.

So what does this hire mean for the surrounding schools?

How many coaches and/or players come back or go to Richlands from Graham, Tazewell, Honaker and any other schools as a result of this coach?

I'll put the over/under at 1 and I'm going with the under....

  9. I'm sure Davis will do a great job, maybe if he can give them a few years at the helm, it will get them steered back in the right direction.  He has a lot of time in the County and you have to wonder how many more years he's going to work in the school system, so there's that.  Maybe they can bring one of the younger coaches along for the long haul.  They need some stability and somebody who can get the kids to come out and buy in.  I don't think they have a tremendous pool of athletes to choose from right now, so it will most likely be a rough road for a few years, regardless of who is coaching.  I wish him luck, he certainly has his work cut out for him.  Anybody expecting a quick turn around will probably be disappointed.  It will take time to re-build the program.

He still has some targets with McDonald being the top one. There is still Mullins, (the other) Patterson, McGuire, and Snap. Fill in a good RB they should fill out well.

Hinkle will be a big target too.  I think they should use him more next season, tall receiver, good hands.  Also, Chase Noel, if he plays.  RB will be the question mark.  Mullins may be able to take that role, he is a durable athlete.
