Two numerical milestones in the game for Bluefield.
One. October 14, 1922. On this date Bluefield played their first high school game vs Logan at Logan. They lost 7-0. October 14, 2022 will mark exactly 100 years since that date. It is true that Bluefield played a few games here and there from 1909 to 1913 but those were more like intramural teams.
Two: Bluefield now has 699 wins as a program. To put this in perspective NO ONE in Virginia has that many wins EXCEPT Hampton. That is right. Bluefield would be 2nd all time in wins in the state of Virginia. Only Parkersburg and Bridgeport have more wins in the state of WV.
Obviously it would be real cool for Bluefield to get their 700th win on the exact 100 year anniversary of full time high school football.
Well, the Bluefield team they are about to play is one of the worst of the past 20 years. If you've ever had a chance to beat Bluefield, this is the year to do it...
That 9 point beat down really shook em up hoping they can recover
Sometimes when a team loses a big game they have a let down. Typically, it's only the game following the loss, but Union has been kinda iffy ever since. I hope they can right the ship in the second half tonight to get some Big Mo for the rest of the season.
After back to back personal fouls on Indy, an Indy player makes a late hit on a Bluefield player behind the play. Ref tosses flag. Another Bluefield player immediately gets into it with the Indy player that had the late hit. As they are "hugging it out", another Bluefield player comes from nowhere with a flying knee to the lower back of the Indy player...the fall to the ground. The "flying knee" player gets up and starts stomping the Indy players lower leg...don't think he connected but it was definitely multiple stomps. More flags. Players cleared of the field, coaches from both sides meet with the officials. The officials walk off the field...game over. Bluefield players line up to shake hands, Indy coaches direct their players off of the field without shaking hands. Indy wins 44-16.
Will be interesting to see if suspensions come from this...
Bluefield travels to up to Sophia, WV to take on Independence this week. The Beavers got their first win this week and sit at 1-4. Indy is ranked #3 in WV AA and have outscored their opponents 300-8. Bluefield has played a fairly tough schedule so far and Indy has stormed through cupcakes like a hungry fat guy. This will be Indy's toughest test so far inspite of Bluefield's record, however, I think Indy will score often and win this game 43-12.

I think they miss out even at 5-5. Need a 6th win somewhere this year to get in...
