Legit question. I wonder myself sometimes. haha The ones that are there super early are a mix of retirees, housewives, and folks that are off from work on Fridays. A good portion of the rest are school employees that are off at 3:30 and drive straight to the Park.
I distinctly remember the priceless looks on the faces of the Clarke Co people in 2015 when everyone made a mad dash for those tiny visitor bleaches. And on top of that, our 90 + member band traveled 5 hours for that game, and their own didn't even show up. They were in complete disbelief. And then the week earlier against Glenvar. There were some people already in their stands(guess they came in with the coaches and players) videoing and laughing as the hoards of Bear fans went running for the bleachers. It is both ridiculous and awesome at the same time. lol

That 9 mil buyout coming back to bite them.   Us Hoos know all about that.

This is 100% correct. 
I can't speak on this from a football perspective, but I sure can in baseball. Virginia High is tied for the 2nd most State Championships in the entire state, in any classification, in baseball. With JJ Kelly no longer in existence, we are the kings of the mountain top in this region, historically speaking, for active schools. We are DESPISED by most other fan bases, purely because of our success. 
The popular word for people to describe us is "recruiting". Only one of the seven State Championships we have won, could anyone come close to having a solid argument while claiming "recruiting".

The problem isn’t that Gate City “can’t” hire a “solid, proven coach”, but it’s that there aren’t any fitting that category who are going to leave their current posts to come patch up a sinking battleship. Turner isn’t leaving Union; Mance isn’t leaving Richlands for anything that isn’t college or retirement;  Palmer’s a Graham guy and always will be; Mullins isn’t leaving home; and you all would consider Carroll from Marion or anyone of that pedigree a massive disappointment.
 
And I’m not even touching the butthurt “everyone hates us, waaaaah” ?.

Hell, if anything, Narrows is the old grand daddy with stories from back in the day y'all don't give 2 damns about and that's ok.  Most of us don't care about yours either.
