Save travels going home tonight for those attending games.  It looks like the heavy rain will start around 9pm, so a 7pm kickoff gets the game in, or at least gets the majority of most games in which will end around 9ish, but folks, it's going to be dangerous traveling home for fans and teams.  For example, folks from Central-Wise will be leaving West VA in the dark and driving 2 hours going home.  Giles will be traveling home from Independence (Grayson) to Pearisburg (and hour and 1/2ish) at least with the storm's direction, but I don't know that the direction of the storm matters much, as winds in a storm seem to come from different angles.  Safe travels going home folks, and consider a hotel and minimizing risk if possible.

We will be driving back to staunton after the Graham game.

Agree with the added caveat; the flu, nor it’s shot, doesn’t pose a risk for myocarditis. That’s my primary concern and I fear it’s under reported.

And in any given year 60 k young adults die from complications of flu because they do not get flu vaccine.  It does help unlike covid. I had covid vaccine then got covid 2 tes afterwards. I get flu vaccine and have not gotten flu since I started getting it.

It may be a generational thing.  I don’t see my son having that same issue now, thank goodness, but perhaps that’s because all the kids are together from K on up.  It was a very real thing in my parents’ generation and mine.  It manifested itself in ways large and small.

Never did with my kids and we lived in West Graham and Tazewell road  short of Springville.

The reason about half the Springville kids jumped to Tazewell instead of Graham is that, circa 2000 and before, the kids who were from “town” treated the kids from Springville, Mud Fork, and West Graham like cavemen who just crawled out from underneath a rock.  Tazewell kids didn’t show that sort of tribalism, and it was welcoming and inviting.

I came within an eyelash of making the jump myself.  To this day, even though I have a Graham diploma and am more “Graham” than folks who might have moved here from WV and stayed in Bluefield a few years, I still feel like a bit of a misfit amongst them.  When you’re 12 years old, you don’t forget how folks treat you.

I lived in west Graham all my life till high school when we moved downtown.  I never felt like an outsider in school, most kids came to dully for 1st to 3rd then to Graham elementary you had Logan street school but I never was a outsider. But this was way back in 61when I started  school.

Never mind that Tazewell was the lower-seeded team in all 3 games and had to face 1 Region D champion, 1 Region D runner up, and that same Region D team off 2 consecutive runner-up finishes in those 3 games.  Nah, doesn't matter at all, does it?  A reasonably intelligent person might expect a lower-seeded team to act as most lower-seeded teams do, and lose.

Just admit that you're still ticked about my position on Graham's video and move on.

You can keep waiting, honey.  What part of "Ridgeview should rightly be favored" is vague or ambiguous to you?

Why bring up the video again for any reason you should be above that. But by doing this you bring yourself down to the pits. Be the better man and forgive and forget.  Then move forward, you will feel much better.

Someone should ask the kids from Cumberland High School how they felt about "suiting up more time." Cumberland finished 0-10 in 2017 and was awarded a playoff berth against Lunenburg Central, a team that curb-stomped them in the regular season.  The playoff game went no better.  And guess what happened in 2018? Cumberland (0-10) was awarded a playoff berth yet again against, you guessed it, Lunenburg Central. And, yes, another woodshed beating that year.

So... to those of you who support eight playoff teams per region, is this an acceptable consequence?

I guess they would say we had a good time in the playoffs even though we got beat. At least we got to play one more time, especially the seniors.

I'm a regular on a golf message board for sickos like myself. That doesn't mean anything to any of you, I'm sure. But there are a lot of similarities in how member interaction became a problem to the point of nearly shutting the site down. The owners of that particular site implemented a paywall about two years ago. It's no longer free to post or even read any content on the message board. It's amazing how quickly things became civil and downright pleasant. The paywall keeps the trolls away. Those who pay for the privilege have skin in the game and police the board themselves. Very few will pay money to troll when they can go to any number of sites to troll for free.

The paywall frustrated me at first but I've come to have great respect for the decision. I gladly pay the yearly fee to be a part of the community. Groups all over the country get together several times a year to play golf and fellowship. Back in late July, 54 of us met at The River Course at VT for a charity golf event to raise money for Special Olympics of SWVA. We raised $65,000 with the help of donations from members of the board from all over the world.

Maybe a paywall is what we need here!?!?!

That is great for those who are not on a fixed income and have disposable income for something of that nature. For someone like me for example on fixed income living to far as to no be able to go to Graham games. to have to pay for this would be out of range for me. I cannot afford the online paper. Maybe it sounds nice to you but to me no.need to boot trouble makers .

According to the VHSL website, STATE CHAMPIONSHIP tickets go on sale @ 6 pm tonight. Ticket sales are thru GoFan and there will be a link on the VHSL site.

Graham's Twitter account will also have the GoFan link up later today. Graham fans can purchase tickets ... cash only ... @ GHS now thru noon on December 8!

Chartered "pep" busses are available for GHS students only and will depart GHS @ 9:15 on Saturday morning.

Fortunately ... and for a change ... I only have a 15 minute drive from Roanoke City. Saturday's predicted Roanoke Valley weather forecast ... temperature of around 70 degrees with a 45% chance of rain at kickoff.

Graham had a large and very vocal crowd here in 2018 and we need to do it again! Let's show KW what SWVA football is about!

Let's Go G-Men! And to all fans traveling from the Bluefield area ... WELCOME BACK to the Roanoke Valley!

My wife and I will be driving down from staunton for the gam Saturday.  See you there.
