  1. Yeah, I know, I've watched every game. :(
  2. I remember that one, as I had to get up early for school myself. That was messy. Doesn't beat the Theismann leg break, though, IMO. Audible over the crowd noise. When LT's signaling to get help from the sidelines, it's BAD.
  3. Absolutely correct! He's there until 2015 when Beamer retires, and he'll get the head coaching job he wants (and frankly, deserves). Frankly, I hope Stinespring stays forever, as Hokie fans hope Groh stays forever, but that's beside the point. When your opponents openly cheer for a coach's retention, that's a bonafide sign that said coach needs to be shown the door.
  4. What's his lawyer going to say? "Send him to the slammer, he's guilty"? Hmmm...this makes Vassallo an accomplice to petit larceny (outside driving without a license), which is not a ho-hum offense. One where Vassallo could pull jail time/SHOULD pull probation, if convicted. Greenberg, here's where you'll earn my respect or lose it perhaps irreparably. You talk the talk, now walk the walk. You know the right move: penalize him/don't allow him to play pending an investigation, and dismiss him if he pleads/is found guilty. Hold your players to the level of responsibility they SHOULD be held to. I have my doubts, but I hope you do.
  5. Losing to UVA by 2 isn't a badge of honor this season, sorry. :(
  6. Carolina girls are nice, but UVA's co-eds are right near the top of the ACC. Playboy ranked UVA's girls #1 in the nation a few years back. Of course, I didn't read the magazine to confirm this. ;) It's a 3-horse race for the ACC title next year: VT, UNC, MIA. Lest you Tar Heel fans forget, as incredible a recruiter as Butch Davis is, he's an equally BAD Xs-and-Os guy; it took Larry Coker to win a NC with Butch's players. And it showed at some critical junctures this season.
  7. For your first question, of course, one needs a permit for guns stored at a private residence. Come on, big fella: where does the vast majority of the population store its guns? A gun safe/locked gun cabinet in a private residence, i.e.: home. What other storage options would there be? A communal gun safe? A storage building? Of course, a person would want his/her gun accessible. I apologize if I've misunderstood the question, as the rationale just seems relatively straightforward. I firmly and unequivocally believe that there should be mandatory jail sentences for those who do not have permits (or at least, having passed a hunter's safety course) for weapons of deadly force. It's serves the following purposes of criminal punishment: specific deterrence (a stiff sentence keeping one from owning a handgun without proper licensing); general deterrence (showing the public-at-large that people WILL do time without the requisite registration for a weapon); incapacitation (keeping those who do not lawfully use handguns [regardless of intent] away from the general population). That's just naming the most pertinent three. Do I believe that people who safely use handguns with due reverence to their power should be denied a handgun? Absolutely not, and I'll stand right beside anyone and fight for the right of a citizen to own the handgun. However, just as one cannot verbally accost me and claim First Amendment privilege, people such as Plaxico Burress should definitely not lawlessly own unlicensed guns and claim Second Amendment privilege.
  8. Merry Christmas, everyone! Hope everyone's having a blessed and safe holiday!
  9. After a while, I have trouble coming up with the words to describe brainless idiocy like this. Nevermind that Warren and Obama share the exact same view on gay marriage. Obama's repeatedly said that he's against it. Yet, the LGBT community directs all the wrath against Rick Warren. I swear, I can't fathom the stupidity inherent in the LGBT community's reaction.
  10. 4 Hoos in the Top 20! :) Including the great Bryant Stith at 5th (and 2nd all-time ACC in 3-pointers). Yes, he was fouled in that Syracuse game.
  11. Anyone who thinks the Chizik hire was racially motivated is, to use a famous quote, "certifiably insane". It makes me physically ill to see people play the "race card" at any foreseeable opportunity. I thought the media learned that lesson after the Duke lacrosse incident. Guess not. Chizik was the DC of two straight national title teams, one of them at, holy cow, Auburn! Coincidence, I think not. Of course, he didn't succeed at Iowa State, but that program is (a) in the Big XII and (b) much misaligned. Forget the fact that ISU lost 4 close games this last season, leading to the most deceptive 2-10 mark in the entire country.
  12. Well, there goes the NC chance, LOL! VT + elite SEC team = bad. Sad to say, but it's true.
  13. I learned about that in Torts last year. ;) For those of you who didn't read the whole thing: the police only have a duty to protect IF they make a substantial effort to assist you. From a lawsuit perspective, it's better for them not to help you than to help you and screw it up. And to respond to BTail above, NY doesn't surprise me with anything anymore with regards to gun legislation. They are STRICT about gun safety, and they pack heat (haha, pun) when they do it. Look at gun-safety expert Plaxico Burress. Facing a minimum of 3.5 years if he doesn't plead. Their system is grossly ineffective, and it just goes to show that the guns being used in these crimes are being trafficked in. NY can't apply it to ALL guns that come into the state, because then you have Dormant Commerce Clause issues, and that's no fun. I had an exam today where a very similar question was worth 33% of my grade.
  14. Haha, nice. Whatever gets them going. But were it me, I'd be mad enough to throw around some expletives. UVA tried the same thing. To use internet speak, I saw a video of it, and it was "massive fail".
  15. Thanks for posting this! I'm glad to see Monroe and Harris on the 2nd team. Both quality young men who will be incredibly successful at the next level. I'd like to add that LB Clint Sintim was named for honorable mention from UVA. Very nice accomplisments.
  16. All very true, and I'll add that PSU's prestigious football history couldn't hurt matters, either.
  17. So Miami has the better record against common opponents, then? Hard to believe it'll go that far down the list.
  18. I'm surprised the media isn't drooling all over itself about this. ;) But seriously, that's an incredible accomplishment, and I'm happy to see it for him.
  19. I'd like "correct answer" for $600, Alex!
  20. I know that Walsh had thought that Ottis Toole had murdered Adam, even going so far as to say that "I'm sure he [did it].". I'm glad to see that John Walsh has his closure. I'm very, very glad to closure for Walsh. It's long overdue.
  21. I appreciate the compliment. :) I just think those talking heads are jaded. This is a cash cow waiting to happen, but they're afraid of sponsors getting their wittwe feewings hurt. That, and losing out on all that money. They could integrate the bowls into the playoffs. Who wouldn't like to see "Florida-Boise State", Round of 8, Cotton Bowl. It would also cut down on the swarm of 6-win teams getting to go to these bowl games.
  22. Wouldn't go THAT far... I personally enjoy it. It's like the anti-soccer: scoring at every turn.
