Anyone have any thoughts on this game? Don't really know anything about VA High's team this year. Hope Honaker get's back on track this week after shooting themselves in the foot last week!

I'm glad Grundy will be moving to the BDD, it will be great for the district. I wish they would have made the move years ago and Lebanon had come into the district with them.

Naw not exactly. In TN system Grundy would be Class 2A in football and in Class A for all other sports. TN sort of has divisional play in football like VA does. Class A splits into 1A & 2A for football playoffs, Class AA = 3A & 4A, Class AAA = 5A & 6A.

Does the Hogoheegee still wrestle in Region D? They did when it was just the LPD/Cumberland in the region.

Yeah, Honaker came back from two TD's down late in the game. Good to see them going into the season on a positive note.

It'd at least be nice if they built a straigtish four lane highway over Clinch Mountain. Rt 16 seems like it takes forever to cross, Rt 80 is so narrow you can only drive smaller vehicles on it and Rt 91 is basically a goat trail.

The road after you bear right on is Freestone Valley. You get on 16 to Freestone Valley Road then get on Rt 91 south to Saltville and take Rt. 107 to Chilhowie, take a left onto Lee Highway (Rt. 11) and you will be at the field directly. That'd be the most direct way.

Anybody see where the cap & trade bill died today? For some reason that hasn't been very widely reported on the news networks...

I hope the Lebanon/Honaker game will be good this season. Don't really know much about what either team will have this season, but I hope it will be more exciting than the last two seasons! Anybody have any thoughts on this game?

I thought they were going to do renovations/additions at Tazewell? If they haven't started doing anything then maybe THS is the school the guy in the paper was alluding to..

Group I was the equivilant to Group AAA today if I am not mistaken. They were the only class to award a state title in football. I bet VHSL helper could give us some info on how playoffs and classifications worked back in those days.

Thats great, I did not want to see the Pac-10 go to 16 teams. A college league stretching from Washington state to Texas just sounded like a crappy idea. Wonder if the Big 12 will extend any invites to new teams? Utah and TCU sound like good choices.

What's everyone think of the Pac-10 and Big Ten's ambitions to expand? Will the Pac-10 lure out Texas and half the other Big 12 causing its collapse? Will the Big Ten also expand into a super conference causing the SEC to raid the ACC and cause its possible collapse? Looks like the college landscape could be changing rapidly and not for the better. These conference expansions will kill a lot of traditional rivalries and hurt academics as well with so much more traveling.

The only thing about the playoff system I have heard about has been either on the message board or from people around town. I haven't seen anything official up on the VHSL website. From what I've heard thought it will go in in 2011 and if it works well in Group A, then Group AA will probably adopt it after a couple of years like they did when A went to divisional play in basketball and Group AA was doing it a season or two later.

Yes, Abingdon will host the Region III runner up and Salem will travel to the Region III champ.

beamer ball do you know what the region brackets are supposed to be in Region D baseball tourney this year and where the semi-finals/finals are being played?

How do the rest of the teams in region stack up other than Honaker and Gate City? I'd say VA High will be the other team out of the CMD and they always field a good team. What about the LPD?

And I read in that article the cutoff between east and west is Wytheville? So basically the west is all the teams from Tazewell, Bland, Wythe, and Grayson and west of those counties are the west section? That's like 30 teams in the west and roughly 70 in the east? They need to at least try and get around half the teams in each section.

After they get all the playoff teams set, they should group 8 teams into four quadrants based on geography and THEN seed the teams once they are in their quadrant. Tennessee used the same concept this year in its new playoff system and seems to have cut down on travel a lot.

Do you know the location of their last three games? I haven't been able to find a schedule anywhere.

And don't forget East Tenn, Western NC, and North GA! :D
