  1. What time do the gates open @ Richlands tonight?
  2. Good luck to both teams. Wishing for an injury free games for both sides and safe travels for the G-Men fans.
  3. Most of us come already fat and happy :)
  4. 1. Appomattox 2. Richlands 3. Giles - this is a mild upset. The first game was a close and it is hard to beat a good team twice in one year in high school. 4. Union. Closer than most expect. If I am right. This should send Giles to Appomattox and Richlands back to Union.
  5. Will this be a Friday night game or will Buckingham want a Saturday game?
  6. Looking at the Graham @ Union game, I obviously feel that Union is the favorite and better team. However, I do feel Graham is a very dangerous team right now. Playing better defense and having some confidence, Union shouldn't take this game lightly.
  7. There is a common thread that connects these football programs. Grayson Co. plays their games at Bill Strong field. It is named for their former coach Bill Strong, who is the older brother of Richlands assistant coach Brad Strong. I think Bill Strong had the nickname of "Bird Eye" if I am not mistaken.
  8. Will the Richlands - Grayson winner play the Buckingham/Martinsvillle winner?

  10. This discussion confirms one thing, not all of the crazy asses in the world live in Richlands. If Union and Giles ever square off in the playoffs and we have a really weak opponent, I could see me foregoing the Richlands game for this one. Phil and Ragsdale could do the play by play and bring in Jerry Springer for the head official. P.S. - Don't take this post too seriously, I am just funning around.
  11. Glenvar goes up 16 to 14 with about 1:20 left in the game.
  12. Does anyone know where I can listen to tonight's game. Thanks.
  13. I wouldn't worry about James White, he a pretty tough kid. He played entire season at tailback in 2011 with a cast due to a broken arm. He is a throwback.
  14. I don't know much about Grayson. But I would love for Tazewell to get the win. Good Luck!
  15. I am thinking Richlands by several touchdowns. However, if we don't dial down our defense to suffocate the run in obvious running formations, Graham may find a niche if Palmer jumps in Carlock's wishbone. Travis Turner utilized his father's T formation to move the chains and change momentum to Union's favor. Tom Turner won a few championships at Appalachia with it. Even though I wanted Union off the field, it does bring back the old smash mouth football that some of us around here grew up on. Kind of like eating soup beans and corn bread now compared to when I was a kid. Can't get enough of that stuff now.
  16. 1. Agree 2. Agree 3. Agree 4. Not necessarily. They had over 200 yards rushing last night. I felt that once they got in the T formation, we couldn't stop them. Based on that fact, last night Union won the physicality battle. 5. Agree. Penalties and turnovers killed us. Heard some rumbling last night from Richlands fans we didn't play a perfect game....would've won...etc...know where that is going. The fact is good teams force mistakes. Union is a good team. 6. Agree. 7. Adressed the physicality. Mostly agree. However, Union did have one of their threats out. I imagine that they could actually be more dangerous....that is scary. 8. Agree that both teams are dangerous. No offense but, your statement about being 10-15 points better than Union would really piss me off if I was a Union fan. In my opinion, there is no mistake free football. Teams that can captilize on mistakes of others are successful. Now to add expand a little. I was very impressed with the Union's ability to get in the spread and brandish that type of fire power....wow. Then to get in the old T formation and basically force feed the football down our defense's throat.....wow. Great team, great coaching. Watching the game, however, I feel that the fumble on the speed option in the late first, early second with Richlands up 7 and driving for another was a critical error. That wasn't a forced turnover. Poor execution, poor play call. We are not a option based team. If we drive and score there...could have been a different game. I hope that a potential rematch would take place in the finals on a neutral field. I don't think that Union relishes a re-match. It is really hard to defeat a good team twice. Having said that, losing early may be a disguised blessing for the Blues. Overall it was a hell of a game. Rare to see two team that good go head to head so early in the season. I do hope both teams run the table until a potential rematch.
