  1. I know Richlands had at least 5 O-Line transfers(recruits) this year. One was my cousin Andrew Dye. I know one boy came all they way from Elizabethton, Tn. I believe Booker came from Graham if I'm not mistaken. Who were the rest? My question is could Richlands actually compete without the best players from other schools? We'll say transferrs so won't make Richlands citizens mad. I would like to see what kind of talent that the boys that's raised and bred in Richlands have not kids from other schools. I work with a parent that had a kid on the team 2 yrs ago and this parent still volunteers his time to the team. I don't believe he lied to me but he said to make it legal usually one of the players befriends one of the players they want and brings him in shows them the weight room and the nice field and some reason maybe a coach may be in the facility and may say be nice to have you on the team cause we always contend for state and you'll get a lot of exposure to colleges. If the coach hisself approaches the kid it's illegal but if another kid does it's not. I dated the Johnson boy's aunt she told me all the things they were given to move from all the way from WV for them to play. There's probabaly a lot more schools that do this escpically in the communities with a lot of business owners, dr's and lawyers that have kids in the local school. I know 100% fact that one business owner I know personally was asked for money to put up money for the Johnson boys. It's not illegal until it's really looked into and caught.
  2. I thought Grundy suppose to been descent that was a joke.
  3. Yes there is a lot of home cooking in Haysi when it comes to this game, but Honaker still has to put up the points to beat the team at the end no matter if the refs are bad. I've been to games there the last 15 or so years and saw Honaker over come some really awful calls and win cause they put pts up. So if the points aren't on the board it doesn't matter how bad the refs are. But I agree if the Honaker team shows up that played the second half against Grundy then Haysi doesn't stand a chance. So someone needs to tell Honaker this a 4 quarter game and tell them to get their heads out of their butts and play up to their ability. Colley will def out coach Hubbard easliy in this contest. Guess we'll have to wait to see how it goes Friday to see which of the Tigers show up to play.
  4. Hope Richlands does make the state final so I can say HAHA to all my Richlands friends when they LOSE again.
  5. No competition here Richlands sets the score. Honaker will be lucky to get anywhere near the Richlands 20. After watching the Lebanon/Honaker game Honakers D line has improved in last 2 yrs but still no match for Richlands and their O line isn't strong enough they need to hit the weights more there's no push. Richlands D will be playing more in the backfield than Honakers Running Backs. At least 63-0 Richlands.
  6. Hoanker 7 Haysi 0 Baseball Honaker 7 Haysi 1 Softball FINALS
  7. I believe the first game with Abingdon was their only competition all year after that seemed like a college team playing against little league. If they can get past GC it may finally be Hardings year for a State Championship.
  8. I went to the Honaker & Hurley boys Jv game last yr and it was a mess. I recorded video on my cell phone when the Honaker players would go after a loose ball the Hurley players would kick them with the Ref standing over top it looked more like a wrestling match than a basketball game. When the game was over I was going to show the videos to the Refs and ask what were they thinking but soon as the buzzer sounded they ran off the court and straight to their vehicle and gone. So what that Hurley is secluded from the rest of the world in technology and things. It doesn't mean they have to act like redneck cavemen when trying to compete in sports. If you're going to lose do it with a little class and don't act like jerks on or off the field or court.
  9. I'm glad to see the Russell County crew mop the floors with the teams from Buchanan Co.
  10. Can't believe you picked Honaker over VA High believe you'll hit another goose egg on that one-- 35-7 Va wins easy
  11. After watching Lebanon and Honaker I would say PV takes this game. Lebanon isn't as strong as people think they just happend to play an extremly young and weak Honaker team. Honaker's 5-3 D was stopping Lebanon good but the DE was get sucked in and not staying at home on a counter run and was opening up the whole ride side which you could went throw riding a wheelchair. Not knocking the Lebanon team I just don't see them beating a well coached and talented PV team.
  12. Honaker must been pretty good if they knocked a good team out of the playoffs wouldn't you say??

  17. Here's some video clips I found of the game. On the scoring drives looks like Richlands had trouble with Monticello's speed. http://www.charlottesvillenewsplex.tv/highschoolsports/headlines/12280621.html#
  18. It's going to be a battle of the 2 worst teams in SWVA.Only thing will matter is bragging rights for Buchanan Co.
  19. Honaker should win but 2 main factors will control this: 1st is tackling, this is the worst tackly D that I've ever saw. Even Hubbard admited to this on the front page of the Lebanon paper. These boys are huge and there's no excuse for not wrapping up on tackles. 2nd: As every team, including PV's coach at the Haysi game, saw you can take huge advatage of Honaker's weak outside coverage by #2. I can take couple of the computer nerds I work with and explote that coverage. Which makes me sick cause you have 20 other boys on the sideline that never sees playing time. Be a very close and hard fought game good luck to both teams.
  20. I wouldn't say Abingdon was soft at Honaker just their D-Line was undersize to Honaker O-Line that was just pushing the D-Line around. Honaker's line actually played up to their potential that night. Abingdon's run game also was shut down cause of the size of the D-line for Honaker but the passing game was awesome due to the fact of the corners cushion and also the corner not giving up on the pass routes the receiver were running. If Abingdon beats Graham it will be with the pass but Graham's corners plays up on the line and do a bump and run to throw the timing off Abingdon will be in for a long night if not Abingdon has about the best 4-5 yard timing patters I've saw for a long time.
  21. I would have to agree Abingdon has trouble stopping the run. I watched them when they played at Honaker and they had trouble stopping Logan Ball. Granted Abingdon did do a great job passing but Honaker's Matt Shortridge isn't a good corner either giving room for the receivers to make plays. The passing game was great until Honaker dropped a middle line back back into the center route and began to intercept the ball. I've not got to see the G-Men play in person but heard alot of games but I still give the edge to the G-Men 24-14.
  22. Richlands had a tough time with a decent Marion team. Bluefield wins by at least 3 touchdowns.
  23. Rode by the field yesterday while in Honaker they have the turf rolled out and it's going to look great. Looks like they have paved all around the field where the grass once covered really looks like a totally new field.
  24. Figured everyone would enjoy this article an ex running back from Bluefield http://www.steelers.com/75years/spotlight/?objectID=75941
