I just don't see it. I'm yet to figure out where people are getting GC as the top team in the region (sans Giles). They just didn't look very impressive to me when I saw them. And beating a very down Greyson team just doesn't make up for what I saw earlier in the preseason. That said, I still see GC as a 7-3 type team. But I just don't see them beating Richlands. I could be wrong, and if I am, then I will gladly admit it. But I just didn't see it.

I'm kinda in the same boat as you. Definitely a playoff team. Likely a top 8 seed playoff team. But better than Tennessee High??

I consider it SWVA. I've always considered VT to be in the southwestern part of the state, and Giles is before Blacksburg, so I always count them. Haha.

Talked to UVAO last night. Said he plans to do it. But time isn't as abundant as it used to be for him. Look for him to come on and talk about it soon.

The video is doctored to add a Rev. This was not intentional. It's a 20 year old kid who got mad and ran down the track in front of cars. If Stewart was trying to hit him, he would hit him with his front tires. It was absolutely an accident. It's tragic, and it's truly upsetting, but a lifetime ban? No.

Of course I knew it was a joke,  I was just being a bit sarcastic myself,  that's the biggest problem with msg.boards,   it's really tough to see someones intent just by what they post on a board.  I think we need a sarcasm font or something....lol
Most all of us from Richlands feel the same way about Giles as you feel about Richlands.  
I know I always go check the Giles score right after I check the SWVA district scores.

Good article in the Bluefield paper couple weeks back.  Mance had several comments, pointed out some things I'll be watching for. If you listen close he will tell you things you can't conceive till you see it on the field.  Miss the days when I could get to some of the 7 on 7 and see what was cooking, would know much more by now.   The great thing about playing somebody like Belfry, it will tell you where you're at and give you a good idea of what you need to do get where you want to be, that is if you have a coach who knows what he is doing.

Yea,  I've never seen it so quiet about the blues this far into August.  I did hear that coach Mance thinks they have a chance to be very good,  but I guess we will know more after Friday. 

I haven't looked at the video online because I don't want to see someone fataly struck by a racecar. I did see the video on Foxnews which stopped the footage just before Tony struck him. There is no doubt that Tony is a hot head and can be very aggresive at times but I can't imagine he intentionally tried to hit this you man. From what I have read and heard concerning the matter it sounds like the other driver made a dangerous move walking out so close to the cars on the track and that the car ahead of Tony almost hit him.
I think it was an accident plain and simple. Both he and Tony probably could have made better choices to avoid the accident but I don't think you can condemn Tony based so heavily on his past.
I think Tony made a wise move that showed consideration for the family by choosing not to race at Watkins Glen. I could forsee NASCAR instituting a rule in their series that prohibits drivers from walking toward cars on the track in the future to avoid an incident like this, in one of their series.
 
Just a sad situation and my heart goes out to the Ward family and to Tony.

Similarly, everyone knows that Ward's behavior was incomprehensibly reckless.
 
As humans, we have the cognitive ability to make deductions about situations. Stewart put Ward in the wall. Ward was pissed to a level where he became incomprehensibly reckless. Stewart has a history of being a jackass to other drivers and using intimidation tactics to bully. The video footage shows Stewart altering his line in relation to his fellow drivers and moving toward Ward.
 
I reasonably deduce from this that Stewart was trying to intimidate Ward.
 
Other reasonable interpretations are possible. However, what disturbs me is that people who disagree with the view I've stated are, somewhat oddly, vigorously attacking that position, as if it were per se unreasonable. And it's not. Neither position is. But it doesn't exactly weaken my perspective to see it under assail.

I'm amazed that someone can watch that video clip and deduct so much from it. You guys ought to put such talent to use doing something productive for man-kind. The fact is this kid made a very poor decision by running onto a poorly lit racetrack wearing a black helmet and firesuit with RACECARS still operating at a reasonable rate of speed. Unfortunately, he paid for his poor decision with his life; hopefully someone will learn from this and not make a similar poor decision.

Richlands has 63 out so far.

We are getting close to the start of season! Two-a-days are right around the corner, and the season will be here before we know it. With that comes the annual Pick'Em!!! 
 
The format we have used the past 3 years works nicely. Don't have to pick every week to make the playoffs, but still rewards those who are consistent but never get that win (me). 
 
Here are the rules again:
 
1. One point per correct pick
 
2. There will be a Game of the Week (GotW), with 3 points awarded for correctly picking the winner, and an additional 2 points up for grabs if you guess the correct combined score as well. There may be dual GotWs, so there are points to be had here.
 
3. Each weekly winner will auto-qualify for the SWVA Sports Pick'Em Playoffs
 
4. There will be a weekly running total kept to settle the "wild card" spots. This also seeds those who have won a week as well. 
 
5. Tiebreakers are as follows:
     A: Correct GotW pick
     B: Closest to combined score, without going over.
     C: If both go over, closest to the correct score.
     D: If same score is picked, there will be a number picked 1-10. The number will be flowed through a reliable 3rd party poster (GMan), and whoever is closest to that number wins. We've never came down to tiebreaker D, but I guess it's good to have it before it happens. 
 
 
I will post the games for Week 1 on August 25th.
