Congratulations to the Lady Blues with their win over Carroll County today, in a nailbiting finale 38-35. Way to go -Makenly Davis for the 3 pointer at the buzzer giving the Blues the win. A BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE to junior, BRITTANY ALLEN in scoring 1000 points of her varsity career .

The team has a better chance at a shot at the title this year than last. It was great that they made it to the semi finals last year but this year they are a little older, stronger, more experience and the team really plays as a team. Every player can contribute to a successful season. They each have a special role and they know how to execute. The coach also appears to have made some changes to his coaching style from his first season, last year. So, I'm betting that the two entities will fuse into one great championship season! Go Lady Blues!!!!!

Tazewell has heart! They never gave up! Just forged ahead. The game became fun for the fans when Tazewell started scoring. Tazewell's fans rushing out with such enthusiam for their Bulldogs, was just a great sight to see during, and at the end of the game. Richlands Fans were equally as excited. I see great things ahead for the Bulldogs. Hang in there Coach Tate. Congratulations Blue Tornado ! Marching onward for both teams!

You will only get WCYB if your Carrier, in this case, Time Warner carries it. Has nothing to do with where you live, but rather who your cable provider is and that they choose to carry WCYB. However, if you stick a good ol set up rabbit ears up and maybe an antennae on your roof, you might get lucky.LOL!

I spoke with a Time Warner Rep at length today.She told me that WVVA put the heat on the FCC to remove WCYB. WCYB had a greater market share than WVVA.(no brainer there).As a customer of Time Warner, I wish that I would have been given a choice. I'm not interested in West Virginia politics and as someone stated earlier - the newstaff at WCYB is very professional and much more accountable for accuracy. (You can still get the news at WCYB.com.) They should have left well enough alone and let both NBC affiliates broadcast in our market.I'm sure there are WVVA loyalists out there too. But WVVA is not going to do the job that WCYB does when Nascar races rolls around. I'm going into Johnny Wood withdrawal.

Just laughing my head off that Cochran from Richlands was coach of the year for his region and none of his players were on the first or second team. Only one Richlands player was named for honorable mention. If it weren't for his honorable mention player he wouldn't have won as many games as he did. Did he not vote for any of his own players?

This IS the only TEAM to win a Regional title. However, it didn't look like there was a lot of "coaching" going on this year . Same as years past. Ol moose got lucky with talents and determination of good girls. Also, the region appears to be on the puny side anyways. So give the little ladies the credit cuz moose aint done squat. And if memory serves correctly I believe Mr. Rife was the best coach RHS ever had for the ladies. I'd like to see him come back and do some real coachin.

Since RHS Girls had such a poor game with Graham tonight, I think it's a bit premature for the accolades.

Richlands had a quad scheduled on Wed. Jan 12 at Richlands with Twin Valley . Because of snow, it was postponed and rescheduled for Sat. Jan 29. Which is better anyway since Fridays are filled. The first game started at 4:30 and the last game time was scheduled to start at 9pm on the 12th. Pretty late for a school night.

Hope both teams play well without injuries. However, K. Saunders is a pretty good coach and he has some athletes. I believe Gretna will take this one.

Congratulations to Coach Mance and Devon Johnson for their accomplishments and to the rest of the coaching staff and team for without them these awards would not be possible.

Totally agree with Ruann23. Martinsville Band is just what Richlands fans need to create more entertaining football game excitement , along with our electrifying team for next week. Since we are in Thanksgiving mode - I would call them the perfect sidedish to our main course.

Congratulations to the Blues! Looked liked it was going to be a thriller at first, then the Blues turned on the burners and torched the field! Also, how about Martinsville's band? They were great!!!

That is the best description I have ever heard. This applies to all sports. Schools with programs and schools with teams. If a school doesn't have a program that instructs, grooms, and feeds ; then all they have is a team. A collective group of kids who come out to play game days, and practice during competition season , and with coaches who show up only at the start of each season. This is not a program. Richlands has a terrific football program. Just wish they had programs for their other sports.

I think the middle school at Richlands is loaded with a lot of talent that will prove to be big contenders when they are in high school. Fred Phillips did an outstanding job with the 6/7 grade team last year. There are a couple of very good 6&7th graders on the team now. The 8th grade has some great girls that are doing quite well. Brittany & Regan are an awesome tandem, as well as some of the other girls. Working with Dennis Palmer has been of great benefit for several of the middle school girls . He really shows an interest in making the girls play their best. I would like to see him move up next year and take the varsity job. RHS varsity desperately need someone with skill and dedication at the helm. The program has been allowed to flounder for too many years. If it had been football, the coach would have been booted a long time ago. It's a shame that the principal, Karen Webb, does not have any more interest in the girls program. Maybe Richlands should start at the top and get rid of her first then work their way down.
