I will be at the East Rockingham v. Madison Co. game Friday night.  Should be a decent game.  Madison has bested East Rock 2X this year but both were competitive games.  I think Madison is one of the top 3 teams I have seen this year but are still a year away.  Regardless, I think George Mason will come out of the East and will be more than a handful for anybody they play.
 
East Rock will be really good next year as well...especially if a current 8th grader makes the Varsity.  He is already 6'2.  Maybe we will move back to Bristol and let him play with that young VHS team. 

I didn't feel like it was such a big deal for me to say that GC needed to tighten up their defense before they got put out early in the post season.

So let's recap the last month. GC fans post positively about their team. People get mad saying we called GC "God's gift to SWVA basketball." GC fan posts something negative about their team and gets told to "STHU." Go ahead and do what you want and make it a SWD board. Just be honest about it and say you don't want GC fans here. That's fine. I'm with Quincy, I'll ban myself.

Wow.....the man made a statement about our defense, which is the truth. If they don't clamp down on the defensive end, we'll run into major trouble in the post season. I'm confused as to how that was getting out of line. I've been a member of this board since almost the beginning, but I'll calmly ban myself. There was no call for that. Good luck!

Went back and re-read all of these threads. I believe the only person that said that GC is currently the best in SWVA was swva_havoc_fan, who is a fan of Ridgeview. In fact, myself and RiverRat have been pretty critical of GC's play this year. If you don't like us that's fine. If you don't want us to discuss our school's basketball team on this forum, that's fine too. But putting words in people's mouths is pretty sad. Most of the back and forth regarding GC on here was over Coach Vermillion's body of work, which is ridiculous.
 
I get that you all are upset that people are overlooking Graham. You should be upset, because you guys have a heck of a program. You all had a young team that nearly knocked us off in Wise a few years ago, and then beat us down pretty bad last March. Trust me, every GC fan respects Graham's athletic programs.
 
This is the reason why I hate individuals releasing their own rankings. It always ends up offending someone.

Thanks BIGBill,  appreciate that!  Just a wonderful high school football game ! Anytime you beat GC in GC in the playoffs you have done something !  So much respect for your program and fan support !  We will see you guys next year in another slobber knocker for sure !

Glad to hear that the injured Gate City Player  is Ok. Didn't look good during the Fact. as far as Ragland goes I haven't heard what happen to him just know that he didn't return to the game. You guys have a Great Program and Fan support would love to see that kind of support for Buckingham Co.  Good luck the rest of the way.

However..I got to pondering and realized you just described every Gate City team in the last 40 years. So...carry on my friend because it is no secret what we do or will do. It seems to have done pretty well over the years.

Dan.............seating and parking should not be a problem. Like others have suggested, you probably would want to stay in Kingsport, TN. Not a bad drive to the field, and plenty of places to eat. I am also a fan of the Pal's Restaurant. There is one in Gate City. Strictly drive thru. Sauceburger with cheese, hot dog (no onions), large frenchie fry, and a sweet tea with lemon (my regular)..............of course I am on cholesterol medicine. :(
 
I have seen most of GC's games this year. Sometimes we have looked real good, and sometimes we did not play very well. We have the ability to pound the ball, and have a  couple of backs who can go the distance at any point. Not real impressed with our passing game. Defense is pretty stout. Do not defend the pass real well. Special teams: Think our kick off team could be a little better. Think our punt returner might be the best in the state in 2A. Team speed is not bad. We can't run 4.3s all over the field, but with a ball control offense keeping your offense off the field, we should not have too. (just ask Gretna).
 
I expect a good game. Like a lot of games this time of year, this one will probably come down to turnovers and who gets a few breaks. 

Agreed Jason...I really don't know how we have gotten this far. GC has definitely overachieved this year. I just hope we don't get embarrassed Saturday.
