  1. Oh, when I'm talking about the "site", I'm never talking about the message boards. Sorry for your confusion.
  2. None taken. We got better this year and we'll be better next year, imo.
  3. Oscar Smith, Westfield, Highland Springs, Stone Bridge, Lake Taylor and Salem do not run spread either though both Smith and Springs will go four-wide and empty at times. They are much more pro-I than spread. Not sure what Appomattox runs.
  4. One of the courses near a base in Hampton is in the flight path of takeoffs. Always fun to be driving when a few fighter jets buzz you at a couple hundred feet.
  5. Based on a lot of conversations that I've had lately, this setup seems to be what most are pushing for -- keep the 16 teams in but use the 'pods' for local matchups early.
  6. It's especially puzzling because the DIII kids play 15 games to win the title.
  7. The tea leaves that I am reading of late are that next year's postseason will be a bit more of a hybrid of the old + the new system. That may just be in classes 5 and 6 though as those are the coaches who have brought the topic up to me. Pod systems (2 conferences per region), play local before moving geographically outward, each of the four regions sending one rep to state. Just talk at this point, but has a lot of support.
  8. I'm really surprised that anyone still runs the Jet Sweep now that the Pop Pass on the motion has been in vogue. The removal of a potential fumble is too big to ignore, in my opinion.
  9. Almost everyone these days seems to think that any offense that lines up in 2x2 is running spread, regardless of personnel, motion, or play
  10. That is EXACTLY how I pronounced it when I first said it. Nope, it is "Kick-a-tan"
  11. People trying to pronounce Kecoughtan ("KICK-a-tan") is usually good for some LOL
  12. Most coaches who I polled on the subject hate the bye week in the postseason
  13. Heritage-Lynchburg, Heritage-Leesburg and Heritage-Newport News, as well. My absolute favorite is Freedom (South Riding) and Freedom (Woodbridge) who are just about an hour apart both using Eagles as their mascot and black and gold as their colors.
  14. VHSL is (essentially) an administrative body, not a governing one. It is not within their powers to dictate to the members.
  15. One of the most fun kids to watch and one of the best players that I have seen this season.
  16. Image gallery from Giles at Glenvar game for those interested
  17. the unofficial projections that I've seen have VA at Glenvar and Grayson at Richlands. VHSL usually releases official matchups by noon Sunday as there are still some games to play today (in-state, not necessarily in 2A)
  18. 12:35 a.m. will do that. GREAT STUFF!
  19. Yeah, this whole tackling theory came out of the rugby leagues where guys play with no helmets but don't have near the same amount of injury problems
  20. Yeah, it's hard not to see 1A going to the East and 2A going to the West. The rankings across all sites are pretty lopsided in both.
  21. 1 Riverheads Staunton 6-0 The Gladiators maintained the top spot with a 35-14 win over East Rockginham 2 Essex Tappahannock 5-1 The Trojans held onto the #2 spot with a 43-6 win over Northumberland 3 Radford Radford 5-1 The Bobcats were off on a bye 4 George Wythe Wytheville 5-1 The Maroons moved up a spot after knocking off Northwood 41-6 5 J I Burton Norton 6-1 The Raiders moved up three positions following their 28-0 win over Honaker 6 Parry Mccluer Buena Vista 5-1 The Fighting Blues were off on a bye 7 Auburn Riner 5-1 The Eagles jumped up two spots after topping Eastern Montgomery 41-6 8 Sussex Central Sussex 5-1 The Tigers climb into the rankings after topping Park View 14-12 9 Franklin Franklin 4-1 The Broncos fell to Brunswick 60-36 and dropped five spots in the rankings 10 William Campbell Naruna 4-2 The Generals made their way into the rankings with a 35-28 win over Gretna
  22. Not sure if there were any errors at the 1A and 2A levels, but a few people contacted the VHSL about errors on the 3A, 4A and 5A rankings, so there may be an updated list coming out later this week.
  23. The RB is Trey Edmonds. One brother, Terrell, is a rover at VT and another brother Tremaine is a linebacker with the Hokies. Father Ferrell is the head coach at Dan River now and he played in the NFl for the Dolphins and Seahawks as a TE.
