  1. I have to agree with you UNIONFAN, I believe that Union will win a lot of games and should do some damage in the playoffs. Just a hunch but they do have a well balanced attack on offense and can play defense against both the run and pass. I was supprised that you could hold you're own on the line of scrimage with our huge size advantage. We need to limit turnovers and we should be pretty good this year as well. Not the best from Reese on his decisions at QB but he made big plays when he needed to, especially the kick at the end. Reese is a great player and will just get better this year with more snaps as the starter. You guys have a first class school and the way you honor other players as you did Brannon Breeding for his accomplishments against you in the early 90's is just classy. True football heritage to be proud of. That was a great game to watch. I love friday night football. FANTASTIC
  2. Thanks bigdaddyd50 for the words. I will beat this, Lord willing.
  3. Not sure about best and worst places to eat but Mitchell Stadium is the best place to play : Both sides have excellent seating and food is good as well. Bathrooms are good for a father that takes his little girl to games without mama. By far the worst bathrooms is Richlands. Try being a dad with little girl that needs to go to bathroon and no mom around. Nightmare. It is closer to a pig pin than a bathroom. Very nasty and wide open. I have to take her to a nearby friends house when she goes with me. I guess you can't have everything (good team year in and year out and good home bathrooms).
  4. Its good to be back on here after the summer off. I will probably rely on you and others on here to keep me posted on what Richlands is doing at the least, every other week. I have chemo on every other Monday through Wednesday and am still attached to the John on friday nights of the bad weeks. I will be listening this year intently when I am not there. I hope to make the Union game. My wife has a nephew that plays there and may be the quaterback (number 2 right now). They should be a pretty good matchup as well as Gate City and Pulaski county. Not sure about the rest of the schedule. I am sure Devon is a beast if he worked hard this offseason. I hope he can stay healthy this year and he could be very sought after in the next level. True physical specimen. If he has true football heart to do the little extras like work off feild and stay disciplined he will be a special player to remember. It looks like our O line is big and should not be too much of a letdown from last year. "You never know about how tough players are until gametime". I think they will be fine though. I know we lost a lot of D-backs and recievers and have not seen them play this year. What do they look like? I think Reese is a good quarterback with big footbal IQ. What he likes in arm strength I think he makes up for with intangibles. Let me know what you think about our new guys in the DBackfield and recievers! I look forward to some good football banter on here this year. I hope all of you had good summers and you're team has some promise. A little balance would be good for the area.
  5. Well done Jewell Ridge Boys (Will and Cody). You make the people of the mountain proud (I know as I am one of them). Also a big congrats to all of the guys on the all State team (WELL DONE). Lets not forget without the great teammates that did not recieve any accolades its only through thier teamwork that any of this is possible. Actually with that many all State Awards it is a HUGE reflection of the entire team, SO WELL DONE TEAM. No one player is better than the team he plays with.
  6. I thought I would be off here until next year but my football fever is always there as well, just can't help but be curious whats everybody talking about. I think we will be pretty good offensively next year and if we can fill the voids of the recievers well, we could be really good on that side of the ball. Great QB , RB and line so find a couple of gems at making catches and we have a good offense. Don't know much about our depth though. The defense will be a challenge. I'd say we will put out a pretty good one though. I love it when people act like going to the playoffs is a bad year. I have been around long enough to know that anytime you make the playoffs then good season and anything further is just gravy. One thing about our team last year is that the entire team got plenty of playing time and there is a lot of guys who have seen lots of time and that will help a lot this coming year. I hope you guys have a good year and see you next season.
  7. TO THE GENERAL: I am not qualified to pick the team and have my doubts that you are as well. Probably just some one team fan who don't know anymore than i do, I'd guess a whole lot less than I do by the way you ask me to pick a team, just some redneck dip$hit probably. I am just agreeing with Lance that Grundy should have had at least one player since they went 9 and 3 and had a playoff win. It does not take a brain surgeon to know they got hosed. They would have been better without QB injury, probably. I am big a Richlands fan but we have too many on there in my opinion. The region has more great players than just the Richlands guys. We have a Great team but not all of the great players in the region. There are 11 players on the field at a time and none of our guys would be huge stars without the other 10 out there with them this year. We only have a couple of bigtime players on each side of the ball. Just my opinion, but it does count just as much as you're opinion does. Now thats interesting to me and I hope you find it to be all you wanted it to be. That is what you ask for was my opinion wasn't it?
  8. I have to agree with you Lance on this one. Grundy had a very good year and without starting QB going down late they probably would have made an even bigger impact this year. Tough line and should have been rewarded for it. Bergalowe is a tough back but has next year to get accolades. Someone up front should have been recognized. Maybe two. Richlands may have had too many on the first team. Not trying to get my fellow Richlands fans fired up and don't know who should be off, but thier seems to be a lot on there even winning all the games we did. I thought Fahardo should have been first team DB for Richlands with all the players we had there. Theres a lot of politics to make those teams sometimes. Grundy must not have any.
  9. It is full of deserving players but as a Richlands fan I have seen all of thier games and Albert Fahardo is an excellent DB. He should have been first team right beside B Strong. He plays on an island at corner and did not get beat much if any this year. He only got beat in the final game by bad calls. He was the victim of 2 of the worst calls i have ever seen in the finals. Heck I never complain about calls, just look back at my old posts on here. But he got burned by officials twice. My hats off to You Fahardo if read this. Great player.
  10. I think maybe they should do it as Richlands is full of cry baby wussies. The world could see us as we are. Heck, we had guys complain about calls in the brookville game. The guys which complain when nothing to complain about only makes complaining when maybe something there look like same old sh$t. Just get over getting beat by a better team guys and get ready to cry next year. I am a huge Richlands fan and I am very ashamed of our fans most of the time. I have said on here before that we have some of the least sportsmanship people there is, anywhere. Yelling UCONN at a high school player when we are beating his team like we did was pure horse$hit. Maybe our team just needs to play with a little more discipline next year and when we get to situations and teams which can use our lack of discipline against us we may not come up short. I know one thing, if our players get thier discipline from the fans then they will never have any, period. I am very proud of this years team and we had a fantastic year. Every AA Division 3 team except for Poquoson would have loved to been in our shoes. I am done reading this crap until next year.
  11. I am a Christian and I started this post. Karma the way I mean it is to not be such a bragger as to bring about the worst in ones self. There are several sins listed in the Bible that are covered here. Pride the most important and it bringing about a lack of humility. I hope we have several on here which will try this next time.
  12. I am not sure what the deal was but they did not turn the play clocks on at Liberty today either.????? We also had the penalty of illegal shift against us and whistle blew and we lost about three and then they allowed Poquoson to decline penalty and take down. Our players quit after the whistle???? I guess I just don't know the rules????
  13. I just Glad you guys made them eat those words. WAY TO GO BLUE DEVILS
  14. He was very premature to ask such a question in my opinion and it appears to be a very stupid question since they lost. I think when you build up anything too high it must come down. If nothing else the arrogance sure got those guys (Poquoson) fired up or it did not hurt them any to see us put our guys so high on a pedestal. This type of arrogance did effect our community and our players in turn. Overconfidence is never good. In my OPINION THIS WAS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST LOCKER ROOM MATERIAL POQUOSON COULD ASK FOR. He was not the only one who got carried away but this post spelled bad luck from the start. Even if you don't believe in luck it just makes the crow a lot harder to swallow. I hope he has a good chaser to get it down! Just my Opinion. You are entitled to you're opinion.
  15. Lance, Were you at the game today? IF so what did you think about it. I know as a BLUES fan it is hard for me to be impartial. Give me the truth, the way you saw it. HONESTLY It really does not matter as you have to play it the way it is called. Refs are like the weather and nothing you can do about them but overcome it. I really feel bad for Fahardo as he is a super corner and he got killed on two big calls where he had the guy covered like a blanket on a cold night. One no call of offensive pass interference for a TD (Fahardo got pushed in the back and separation occured) and one pass interference where he was in front of the reciever and got pushed in back and he got flagged! The holding penalties were like 15 to 2 against us, maybe possible as they were tough kids up front and beasts at tackling. You know I have been an advocate of not complaining all year about the calls and have been for years for that matter, but WHOW. Maybe I have just come down with the ROSE colored glasses syndrome!! I know its been rampant in Richlands!!
  16. CONGRATULATIONS BIG BLUES: I know that not bringing a state title home hurts now but you guys were a fantastic team. One of the best Big Blue teams ever. Sometimes its just not in the cards. You guys have tons to be proud of and don't hang you're heads. I have enjoyed watching you seniors for 4 years and the best of luck in the next chapter of you're lives. Come back next year underclassmen with even more determination and give it you're all. YOU GUYS ARE ALL WINNERS IN MY BOOK.
  17. I remember posting this last week when this moronic post started. WAY TO GO DIPSTICK. You have to be the worst fan in the history of high school football. Thats one title you could brag about. You just passed the Abingdon boys in my opinion.
  18. Yea, Both teams lose a lot, but I bet they will be pretty good next year. It should be a great game next year (always is) that first Friday of football. I am already looking forward to it. Enjoy GC fans this summer, you deserve it and I hope only the best for you're seniors in thier next chapter in life.
  19. I may not be able to spell it Lance but I know what it is, unlike many many many many of my fellow Blues Fans.
  20. Congratulations Blue Devils, I am glad to see you avenge the game against Gretna last time. I thought that might be the added lift you would need to get them today. Seniors remember that stuff and use it to thier advantage. Its good to have a title back in Southwest Virginia this year and way to get it for us. We ran into the best tackling team I have ever seen play high school football today and came up short. They were not flashy at all but they executed thier game to a tee. Very diciplined team and tough. They remined me of you guys this year more than anybody we played. Run it down you're throat and make you like it. Like you guys did last year to us. They could throw the ball pretty good when they had to though. No turnovers and few penalties. AGAIN CONGRATS BLUE DEVILS
  21. I think we had the better team and we still lost. I do think THEY were definitely the best tackling team I have ever seen in the years I have watched high school football. (BAR NONE) We never broke any tackles but we could have won the game anyway without all the penalties. I don't think it is good to complain about penalties as you just have to play it the way it is called and complaining only looks like excuses. That said there were a whole lot more penalties against us than them. I was not on the field and don't know if all the calls against us were warranted. We must have had 15 holding penalites to thier 1 or 2. ???? I give them cedit they ran the ball at the end and eat up the clock and we could not stop them. Very tough, physical team. BUT IN MY OPINION ALL THE BRAGGING BEFORE THE GAME BY SOME OF OUR FANS (posters) JUST KILLED OUR CARMA. Some humility may be in order next time when we get there, (even if we win every game by 60 points). *****I am PROUD OF OUR TEAM and think they should hold thier heads high. This was one of the best Blue Tornadoe teams I have ever seen play. Good luck in the future seniors, its been a pleasure to watch you play. Underclassmen I will be out next year (Lord Willing) to pull for you to defend the region IV title and think you have the makings of a great team as well.
  22. It sounds like a good idea but the points starcityfootball make are correct. The bigger teams out East would not want to come any further West than they do now for the championship game. All of the bigger teams are located in the big Eastern city's. I suppose that VHSL has it right for the time being. As a Richlands fan it would be great to play at VAtech but when a school like Poquoson gets there it would be a big drive for them. We usually drive much further than any of the other double A teams but thats OK. I have a good time and Richlands travels well. Liberty stadium is nice and 2 games in one day is pretty good. I usually stay for the second game but most of our fans don't. It would be nice to support the single A teams in our area but can't due to the games being on same day as we play if we make it. I personally have never been to Salem but I here it is first class for high school football. I wish we could get Salem to play a home and home series with us but we need more visitor side bleachers. That would be a great game for us to pick up. They are always good and would give us a good measure of how we stand up to the big double A teams year in and year out. We may lose more than we would win but we would give them more than most do, especially since Mance and staff came to town.
  23. I really don't know anything about Gretna this year but they have had some great teams the last few years. (Really fast and explosive) I am sure they are very good this year as well. I know gate City is very physical and if they can use that to generate some turnovers they can even out the speed issue. Gate City must be able to run the ball and control the clock to keep the Gretna team off the field as much as possible. I know Gate City has several seniors and sometimes they can impose thier will more than underclassmen can. I pick Gate City in a close game to pull this one off and bring back some hardware to SWVA. GO BLUE DEVILS
  24. He's probably not a Poquoson fan and just trying to get us fired up. You know we have several of those posters on here and they try to get other teams fired up. It works if the people reading the posts believe them to be true fans. I don't think this guy is a Poquoson Fan. They mostly are really nice people and very humble it appears to me. I think some of our people could use some of that advice as well. A good football team is strong of Character and Character starts with humility. It really is a funny post!
