Which game did you watch?

Average age of the Richlands football team players...bout 22. But they're gettin'em a edumacation. Sorry guys, just taking a cheap shot....its what I must do preceeding our impending pounding.

who are the worst? I'll start....Bowles. Knows his football, but I think the game has passed him by. AHS needs a young, motivated coach with the ability to get onto a kid and have that kid respond by giving more....not by running home to mommy and daddy and saying that bad man yelled at me. Now, some of that is on the kid and his parents...but a good coach develops a reputation of being a players coach and the kids know that he yells at them because he knows they can do better. We need discipline. We need conditioning thats real. We need drive and determination. We need a fresh start. We just need a new coach. We need that excitement...we've gone stale. This is all, of course, my opinion...but ANYBODY that agrees or disagrees please chime in. Am I alone in this thought process?

Whew! Tell them we have a passing machine at QB...at least give us a fighing chance. But seriously, I know you guys are tired of hearing about our upcoming talent...but we do have so coming in the next couple of years. We will at least be competitive in about 2 years. Will make for more exciting games with you guys. Nobody gets excited over repeated blowouts....gets boring for both sides, ya know? We will finally have some size and speed at the skills. I truly hope we get a young, motivated coach and he gets some of the players that quit to come back.

Ryan, you are right. My apologies. I guess that just hit me the wrong way. I am typically not anywhere that up tight or have knee jerk reactions.

Ya know, I'm just glad my entire life doesn't revolve so heavily around watching high school boys play ball. Granted, I enjoy football as much as the normal next guy...but, end of world stuff? Wow. So, what I'm saying, in a nutshell, is...get a life. Yes, Richlands will beat Abingdon..it's a given....why find so much joy in beating Abingdon? You must feel that you don't rate up with the folks that live in Abingdon...which, by the way, is ridiculous. The joy so many people get by beating Abingdon is actually a compliment to those of us that live in Abingdon. So I say Thanks...thanks for thinking we are so great. Oh, and if you think the end of the world is coming it would be of much greater benefit to you to be in church.

Yeah, we lost Widener. Wouldn't have made much difference in this game though. One player can't win a game. He is definitely pretty tough kid though. He ran the ball 38 times in the game he went down in. 38 frickin times...geez..now you know why I complain about our coaching staff. He had gone down earlier in the game ...came out for a couple of plays...went back in only to tear his ACL and MCL. Now that's smart coaching there boy. Anyway, as I said a few weeks ago, it's going to be a long season for AHS fans...and it has been and will continue to be. 56-0 is being kind. As far as the excuses go...I will never do that...but our RB's have cramped the last couple of games because they are being run to death. And, and its a big and, our stating QB was out this past week...don't know his status for this week against you guys but he hasn't been all that impressive anyway. But the 2 deep is a Soph with a cannon for an arm....but can't hit the broad side of a barn from 10 feet. He may eventually get comfortable..but all you guys have to do is load about 7 or 8 in the box. The Pennings kid is a hard runner with only decent speed...but he will run as hard as anybody. Only real bright spot since Widener went down. So, no excuses, but please know that me and man others know that with a different coaching staff we would be a little bit more competitive. Not saying we would beat you guys this week...but the score would be a lot closer than 56-0. And to all the other AHS fans, don't worry...I didn't tell these guys anything the coaching staff hasn't seen on film already.

For the record, if these 2 kids are for real (which I highly doubt), please don't lump all Abingdon fans in with them. We are not all blubbering idiots. For example, most of us that know anything about football know that AHS is going to struggle the remainder of this year....probably wind up well below .500. Having said that, the future does look better as we have some stellar 9th graders and some serious speed in 8th. The big question in Abingdon is...how long must we put up with sub par coaching? Guys, its truly a bad situation. We have kids sitting in the bleachers that could be game changers...and they sit in the bleachers because of the coaching staff. Of course, they should play through it....deal with it and grow from it. But, like I have said before, until AHS gets rid of the political crap that goes on here then our team will NEVER have state potential....I don't care how fast or strong they are. Okay, I will step off the box now.

Well the coachng staff had better do some things differently if AHS wants to win. Like, I don't know, play the 2 deep RB that has some power. Widener will need some air and when he does he needs to be relieved by someone with good power and decent speed. Pennings could be a great 3rd and short back, let alone an every down back. For some reason he hasn't got in the last couple of games and I am not privy as to why...but I hope he's back in Friday night. Until the politics stop in Abingdon they will never be a contender....heck, they aren't even a pretender at this point. I will predict an AHS win just because it's at home and, let's face it...I'm a homer.

What, you guys don't think Abingdon can beat Richlands this year? I kid. It's going to be a long year for us Falcon fans. It has been a LONG career for our coaching staff...feels like forever.....*sigh*......

Willie is a "sign and place" candidate because he will not qualify academically. They are recruiting him strictly as a DB. I think they are going to try and get him into Fork Union Military Academy in order to qualify. They will not have the numbers available for him even if he did qualify...they have some SERIOUSLY good guys signing this year to play DB...some of which are juco transfers and are ready to play now. The most UT can sign this year is 28 and their biggest need is DL and Willie ain't playing DL obviously. They are in on some great players for DL but it's waiting for NSD (national signing day) that's killing everybody. Right now we have too many guys that are considering us...some of which we KNOW won't be coming here, but there are a number of 4 star guys heavily considering us (them). It will be an exciting next Wednesday! ESPNU at 9 a.m.

Looks like my home state boys are kicking butt. I knew it.

Anything can happen....I am SURE everyone here remembers AHS losing to JI Burton and the big deal that was made of the fact that AHS has 2 or 3x as many kids. Good luck Grundy...but I just don't see it happening this week....but,as they say, that's why they play the game!

You want quick? Check out Devrin Young from Bearden. Kid is lightening...not necessarily straight out...but he can freakin cut on a pinhead. Committed to UT. His big downside is size (he's like 5'7") but Dooley liked him enough to offer and he jumped on it the day the offer was made. He tore DB up for 5 TD's. He has no supportng cast though and they got tromped by Maryville in the regular season and they will again this weekend. But, remember that name...Devrin Young. Reminds me a lot of Dexter McCluster.

MV 42 to 3. Bowles HAS to go. Any ideas? Dawson hasn't even touched the freakin ball. Ridiculous.

MV 21 AHS 3....1st qtr not over yet. Looking ugly.

And also, Bowles cost us a freakin delay of game when we were on the 3. Surprised? Yeah, me neither.

MV already scored MV 7 AHS 3. Took 3 plays. Returned the AHS KO to the AHS 40.

Do you mean MV has it or do you mean AHS just lacks it compared to MV? Offensively or defensively?

Serious post here....why all the bashing of the Abingdn D? Marion was given every chance to win that game and the Abingdon D stopped them (save 1 TD). Now, I realize that RHS scored very often, but it was close at halftime, no? I didn't go, nor was able to listen to, the Carroll County game so I can't comment on that game at all. For the people that have commented negatively about the Abingdon D....is it their run defense or pass defense that you feel is lacking? WHat about MV's offense is a concern for the Abingdon D? Again, serious post....not looking to start a riot here....serious replies please.

So I guess it would be fair to say, in my best Madden voice...."er, the team with the most points at the end of the game will win...because that's how the game is played...you've got to score more points than the team you are playing because if you don't then the team you are playing against will score more than you and they will win".....
