  1. There have been more twists and turns in this thread than a cheap garden hose!!!!!! Nothing compares to authentic Philly Cheesesteak! At least nothing I've had outside eastern Pennsylvania. A suitable alternative for anyone making a trip to Galax is a small little place called Miller's. It's a Mennonite place on US 58 about halfway between Galax and Hillsville.
  2. That was due to a safety issue concerning a collapsed stadium light pole not field conditions.
  3. I'm not sure what Parry McCluer returns but Galax will be a tough out come playoff time baring injury. They returned everyone from a 22-5 team that reached the state quarterfinals last season. Two D1 players on the roster and their best player may be an 8th grader who can't play varsity yet.
  4. Galax girls beat East Mont 63-8 Monday night.
  5. Yes it will. A healthy Hough team will play them a lot closer than the 25-0 game in early November.
  6. Hough got revenge on a seemingly unbeatable Mallard Creek 19-7 Friday night. My brother said Hough has battled through injuries all season but are healthy now.
  7. I saw Galax dominate Radford in week 2 of the season to the tune of 41-21. Radford actually needed a garbage time TD to make it that close. It appeared to me, Radford couldn’t contain the speed Galax had on the outside. Galax had 212 yards passing at halftime. Radford adjusted by dropping more guys into coverage which opened up Dixon’s running game to get chunk yardage on virtually every carry. Galax finished with 258 yards passing and 289 yards rushing. My point is, if Cam is accurate, he will have open targets aplenty!
  8. You can find a live stream of Galax on YouTube. A link can be found on the GCPS website
  9. Blake Brown scores again. Galax 41 Narrows 0 2:52 left in the first half
  10. Blake Brown scores from 21 yards out. Galax 34 Narrows 0
  11. Sorry fellas. Had to sell 50/50 tickets until the end of the 1st quarter. Life of a band parent! Galax is dominating the line of scrimmage. Galax leads 28-0 6:57 left in the first half
  12. That's the point, your fact doesn't make it absolute fact! We've had some nasty weather for the past 3 months. Planning for a game time that would benefit everyone involved in playing the game makes the most sense. It wont benefit all of the adults but that's life. Moving the game to Friday does adversely affect some. Having the game on Saturday adversely affects others. People work on Saturdays too!
  13. There are two things I feel compelled to respond to within the post. First, you say "no one said it wasn't the right move" followed by "although the weather as it stands right now doesn't support the move." Those two statements are disjointed and contradictory in nature. Which is it? The right move or the wrong move not supported by the weather forecast? Secondly, who have I attacked? How have I attacked them? I have attempted to express my opinion articulately, fairly and honestly. Mine wasn't the first response. I simply stated what precipitated the move, as expressed to me by an administrator. The first response was "could have and should have been Friday night." Which doesn't solve the initial reason for moving the game, as I pointed out. Nothing "attacking" within this board or the other. I have a proposal. We have known one another for 40 years. We don't particularly care for one another in any capacity. Lets leave it at that and avoid each other on this and the other site! Shall we?
  14. I understand being disappointed and sympathize. As I said on the other board, I'm sorry if your employment doesn't allow you to attend a Friday afternoon game. But that employment status shouldn't place others in potential jeopardy to ensure your ability to attend. This isn't just about the Galax kids or parents. Narrows kids and parents have to travel two hours to get here. I applaud our school coaches and administrators for ensuring they have the safest trip possible. If you look at the weather report for Friday/Saturday and don't see what precipitated this move, then in my opinion, you're either naive or "hopelessly irrational."
  15. Some folks on that other site are pissed at Galax for not playing Friday night or Saturday. Given the circumstances, Galax is doing the responsible thing and I applaud them for it. Some people are just hopelessly irrational. If attending the game is that important to them, take a sick day.
  16. Indeed! No disrespect intended to PH. Just pointing out, moving the game to Friday afternoon is the responsible thing to do.
  17. How many times has that been said over the past 18 years only to have the Patriots end up in the Super Bowl? I'm no Patriots fan by any means, but they are the best managed, best coached organization in profession sports history. Underestimating them seems counterproductive when they already have an advantage over the rest of the league. With that said, nobody is playing as well as the Saints right now. Nobody!
  18. It's my understanding, the move is in an attempt to not have a "worst case scenario." The weather report for the Twin County's for Friday night into early Saturday morning is sleet and freezing rain with a temperature between 30 and 32 degrees. If sleet and freezing rain do occur and force the cancellation of the game Saturday, a Monday game would be a significant disadvantage for the winner having to face Chilhowie on a short week.
  19. Sounds like the one I saw. Embarrassing behavior to say the least.
  20. If it's the same one I saw, it didn't show much of what happened on the field. It did, however, show embarrassing behavior by adults in the stands!
  21. Mallard Creek is 4aa and Mooresville is 4a. I think Mooresville can win two games in the postseason in 4a. Wells has improved them tremendously. If anyone stays with Mallard Creek for 4 quarters this season, I will be shocked. They are ranked well inside the USA Today national poll. Deservingly so!
  22. I don’t have family that play. My nephew attends Hough. They looked to be world beaters until the final two weeks of the regular season. Mallard Creek and Vance beat them handily. Thad Wells team at Mooresville is the 5 seed in 4a. I think they will make a solid run and will be playing for two, maybe three more weeks. I saw Tarboro thrash Mount Airy last season. By all accounts, they are better this season.
