I listened to the announcers on WDIC streaming radio program, and they were saying most of the game that Clintwood was being manhandled in the trenches. From those announcers comments, I took it that the O and D lines just got outplayed for most of the game. Sounded like a tough fought game and almost a great comeback in the closing minutes.

As Greenfave#5 wakes up from his slumbering nap, he stretches and yawns, thinks to himself, "Did I really post that player-hater comment...Nah, I just dreamt it." Later he logs on to swvasports and realizes there is no "take back" button for his post." He then scratches his head and says out loud, "Oh well. Guess everyone see's who I am," his voice trailing off and does the chop motion with both hands to the groin area. Remember this is just high school kids playing and we fans should just appreciate the talents displayed, no matter what team. Good luck to Haysi and Galax, may their fans be blessed, keep their players unharmed and the good lord provide the ref's with good eyesight...and finally may the best team win.

Sixcat, I understand Galax will be doing without the services of their linebacker (missed round 1 game against GW), will he be able to play against Haysi or is he out for that game too (due to the foul in Grayson Co. game)? Isn't he also the punter and TE on offense?

Another take on the facts provided by those above and by Phil Robbins is that SWVA is actually "Over achieving" with less. Phil said, "Now we have smaller and slower kids that never would have played varsity 13 years ago," and that statement provides a basis for my over achieving suggestion. The only thing Phil Robbins left out in his description of the kids of today is that their dumber and uglier (insert tonuge in cheek). I understand the dwindling population theory and I can buy this premise. His comparison of the physical attributes reminds me of when grandpa used to say we had to walk five miles to school in two foot of snow barefooted...we were tough back in the day...you young folks are soft. Moreover, it's human nature to remember the past and assign more importance to those times (at times this is reality). I'll bet in 20 years we'll find a similar article with some old ball coach espousing the same stuff...save this article and pull it out as it's template.

It's only one game (albeit late in the season...hmmm). Is Graham the Jekyll & Hyde team in SW Virginia? "Was Graham a trap game for Fort or an apparition of a contender," says Howard Cossel, voice trailing off?

Can Fort Chiswell make this a Clintwood moment and move on (one remembers the Grayson County shellacking during their title run) or is this their demise on the road to a memorable season. Good luck to Graham and the make a mental map of your win, and Fort make a mental map and replay this game and fix the problem.

Might consider the Glenvar game was first game of season (not taking anything away from Glenvar). Sixcat could verify, but I think Galax might of had some player(s) out that game.

Thanks for the update sixcat. Was in town and hoped to see them play Friday night. Seems the game was moved back to Saturday and I had to return to Florida. Keep us up to date sixcat.

Not so sure about Galax this year. Their lack of experience after losing all those seniors last year and lack of inside game currently has them at 0-3 (Pulaski County twice & Carroll County, they open season with 4 AA teams which I think will help them). They have a bunch of guards and still need to gel. They just got back one of the Peoples brother and that experience will help. They could be a nice surprise later in the year but they are far from the Galax team of the past two years. They need a year of experience.

Pulaski only 7 turnovers and made their free throws. Galax ton of turnovers and looked like their experience level...young. Plays Carroll County Thursday. Four of first five games are against Pulaski and Carroll County. The Carroll game could get ugly since these two towns are so close and always have a good rivalry atmosphere. Yes Donte Peoples is a senior and ended his season a couple weeks back. He was their leading rusher and DB. S. Peoples is a junior and was hurt last week. He played but according to the folks in the know played hurt. That being said, Honaker played well and deserved the "W" no doubt. Good luck to Honaker. Coach Dixon thinks his team next year might be better than last years team that was runner-up to Clintwood. There were a lot of freshmen and sophmores on the field and the experience will serve them well over the next couple of years. Great season...on to basketball for Galax:D

Did find something on Steven Peoples going down last week but not sure how bad the injury was. Here's a quote from the Galax Gazette: The Maroon Tide (7-4) averaged 8.6 yards per carry despite playing without their top running back Donte Peoples, who suffered a season ending injury the week before. Younger brother Steven Peoples carried the load during the first quarter, scoring four of Galax’s first five touchdowns. Peoples racked up 184 yards on the ground on 12 carries and picked off Chilhowie (4-7) quarterback Dylan Thomas for a 60-yard pick-six in the first quarter. Late in the second quarter Peoples went down with an injury and didn’t return to the game.

I'm hearing: Galax loses 2 linemen and Steven Peoples has bad sprained ankle after rushing for 184 and 4 TDs n 1st half of Chilhowie game. Want to see if sixcat is hearing the same thing. I'll wait to see what sixcat confirms. If true, tough to hear this time of year.

I know Donte People's is out for the season but I am hearing Steven Peoples might also be out this week too. Is that true? If so, this will be devastating for Galax, and make it difficult to get out of the second round.:eek:

I too woke up with a bit of dread this morning. One thing is for sure, the blame someone else gig should be up. I am sure the ones who elected him will stay blame "W" no matter what. Let's see where gas prices, employment, food prices, and the deficit are after another four years of his policies. I know other than the blame game we'll here the republicans won't let us get anything done. I would for once like to see him stand on his own two feet and say the buck stops here....after eight years there will be no excuses. Lastly, the biggest harm/good he can do it replace Supreme Court Justices during this four years. Were in for a mountain of disbelief during these new four years! God help us! I would not be surprised to see gas prices of $5 next year and upwards of $7 over the next 4 years. I hope I'm wrong, now go prove me wrong Barry...I dare ya :)

Galax won't be the same team without Donte People's. He went out in Q1 Friday night with an injury that will end his senior year, according to sixcat. Such a shame...he was explosive on both sides of the ball. Hope they play some inspired ball in his honor.

Grayson 32 Galax 28. Galax's Donte People's goes out in Q1 and goes to hospital for evaluation of ankle (looks like). Galax throws 6 interceptions. Grayson QB (Max Rodgers) plays a great game. Grayson deserved the win and got it on an interception in last minutes of game in the red zone and converts. All Galax first half and all Grayson second half. Galax will not be the same team without Donte People's in the playoffs (assuming he cannot come back).
