fieldgeneral 10 Report Share Posted October 26, 2007 Let's include Southern WV and Southwest VA in this topic. Who is the best rusher in the area?
futbolking 766 Report Share Posted October 26, 2007 Well I can say for Marion..Tommy Lyon, a big fullback has 905 yards and averaging around 6.0 per carry...nothing fancy, just runs over top of you.
wvuraiders 10 Report Share Posted October 26, 2007 going with brooks from blfd or tincher/robertson from jm
Sources 10 Report Share Posted October 26, 2007 Brooks has a nasty stiff arm.

bluefieldRocks 14 Report Share Posted October 27, 2007 I'm thinking it was D. Lane #1?
wvuraiders 10 Report Share Posted October 27, 2007 Brooks proved to me tonight as a shady/monroe fan...that he is the game changer on o and d...good back...playmaker...i'll give credit where credit is do...he makes blfd go in my opinion. Guest BEAVERTAIL Report Share Posted October 27, 2007 after tonight i believe shawn brooks is the best running back in the area. he may not have the stats, but thats because bluefield spreads the ball around. James monroe had trouble tackling him all night...i dont think one single mav brought him down. he carried the beavers on his shoulders tonight... grundysports 10 Report Share Posted October 27, 2007 combine Josh M. and Josh L. is a good combination in the backfield for Grundy but it just says rusher so i go with Tommy Lyon from Marion from what i have saw
Sources 10 Report Share Posted October 27, 2007 The only flaw Brooks has is that he doesn't know when to go down sometimes, which led to one fumble tonight vs. JM (although I think he was down before the ball came out). He also tends to hold the ball out when fighting for extra yardage also.
Tigers_07 72 Report Share Posted October 27, 2007 i think Logan Ball is the best rusher. He set the all-time school rushing record and most TDs by one player against Hurley tonight for honaker.
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted October 27, 2007 [ QUOTE ] The only flaw Brooks has is that he doesn't know when to go down sometimes, which led to one fumble tonight vs. JM (although I think he was down before the ball came out). He also tends to hold the ball out when fighting for extra yardage also. [/ QUOTE ] His refusal to go down and determination to keep fighting for yards is what makes him special. The only flaw I see, which leads to the fumbles, is that sometimes he carries the ball away from his body, making it easy to poke away in a pile. old_school_blue 247 Report Share Posted October 27, 2007 I agree. I think he is the best in the area. I don't understand why there isn't a big fuss being made about this kid. He is the real deal.

[/ QUOTE ] and i can guarantee you that back coach and verbal guru Pete "The Pest" Sarver will be sure to pound that one fumble into his head for the next 5 days! all game he yelled at brooks to keep it tucked, as did Mr. Cole in the huddle. it is a bit hard to keep it on your bicep when it's the size of 3/4 or you forearm, but that's no excuse and he will get better. plooolt 10 Report Share Posted October 27, 2007 I would have to go with SWVA's leading rusher Skyler Musick. He has played some good teams and is still racking up the yards.
Earnhardt 10 Report Share Posted October 27, 2007 I have to say Brooks he has the ultimate package of size and speed.
Guest BEAVERTAIL Report Share Posted October 27, 2007 after watching brooks lately he reminds me of Adrian Peterson. A decent sized back that can run with power, speed, and finess...
Guest zeus71 Report Share Posted October 29, 2007 There is no standout this season but I know the two hardest runners in this area. Logan Ball and # 21 from grham. Both studs.
Tigers_07 72 Report Share Posted October 29, 2007 if breaking heath miller's td and rushing record at honaker isn't sending a message. then i dont know what will. all i know is logan is just one heck of a rusher.
redtiger 1,742 Report Share Posted October 29, 2007 ball from honaker runs through tackles with power in the gap and has great speed once he gets going excellent player
nooge 10 Report Share Posted October 30, 2007 David Harrison from RR has to be up there. One tough dude.

Neondion1 10 Report Share Posted October 30, 2007 I think you have to include Benton from Big Creek in that group. Doesn't get the pub being from a small program that doesn't play the toughest comp weekly but puts up the numbers. Usually he doesn't carry over 15 times a game with astronomical numbers. In a bigger program he would be a star. Good size, strength and good enough speed.
fieldgeneral 10 Author Report Share Posted October 30, 2007 Is Benton a SR.? He will be in a bigger program next year that will beat down Mt. View.
