romeo37 Posted September 21, 2008 Report Share Posted September 21, 2008 i know it sounds like we are cry babys but we are not it is just hard for a va team to go in and win in wv i was at the big creek game and that is the sorry refs i have ever seen in my born days big creek was good but not a power house the refs would call crap on hurley seems like every play or when hurley was driveing the ball that game was not called fair it should of been alot closer than what the score showed they knowed they was going to win before the game started you cant beat the refs and the team to and they are the most nasty crowed over there i have ever seen in my life they even went in the locker room and destroyed hurleys stuff that is a bunch of pigs over there if anyone goes over there and playes a ballgame you are not going to win you can take that to the bank thats the truthe because wv refs dont call it fair every va team needs to stay in va because they call it for the wv team know matter how good you are. you could not put all of them reject refs over there in a bag and not a good one would fall out thats how bad it is Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Big Dookie Posted September 21, 2008 Report Share Posted September 21, 2008 I was there at the game and the officiating would not have changed the outcome of the game....even though the game was not what t the score showed...I honestly think big creek was 1 touchdown better than us........Hurley had four fumbles and a muffed punt on the 5 yard line and Big Creek just made the most of their opportunities and capitalized on hurleys mistakes.....The second half was an even ballgame and big creek was trying ever thing they could to put more on the board.......Big Creek has a good team but I dont think they are 8th in the state bercause Hurley moved the ball on them at will....just turned it over or got flagged......The officiating was not as bad as everybody thins Hurley had 11 penalties and Big Creek had 9.... I thought it was 11 wasnt sure though but the amount of flags thrown wasnt the thing it was when they were thrown...They killed drives and took away field positon when they wanted too..Big Creek was penalized but none to take away momentum ....I agree BC has a good team and we made mistakes that helped them...These are 15,16,17 yr old kids here they take the kick off and drive and I mean drive the ball down these behemoths throats and get inside the red zone and have the Refs take charge then..That messed with these kids heads the rest of the first half I dont care if theyd scored on the first play it would have been called back if BC didnt have a player on the field..I'll proise you another thing what was called on BC the majority was to show that "we called it fair" because there High School Association has to deal with this crap out of that area constantly... I think a lot of boy's turned into men Friday night and what happend will only make them better.....And to the refs defense do you actually think they could have got out of that place if BC had lost? To cry over penalties just because you were driving the ball when they happened is ridiculous unless you can prove that the penalties shouldn't have been called. Who cares what part of the game they were called in? If you have an undisciplined team that makes penalties at bad times don't blame the refs, blame the coaching staff and the people who made the penalties. To say you got cheated when the score is 38-6 is laughable. Everytime I come on this board someone is crying over refs from every school in the area. You can't call a 15 yard penalty on a fan, look in the rule book see if you can find a rule. A running back cannot grab a opposing facemask and call it a stiffarm, but they did and it wasn't called. Like I said nobody said Hurley was should have won but it is a bad scene over there. Do you think you would have liked your son or daughter escorted off the field by the police just so they could get their clothes and leave. We didn't like it I don't think you would either. I should have read your post better.....I gotta life and being around these fine young kids enrichin it and when I see them wronged I'll respond to it....You I can imagine are the one that needs a life ..... To my knowledge there were refs in the crowd that questioned the calls so just don't go speaking mind until you hear the correct details of the game. All I know something just wasn't right especially with that one ref. I guess if you are a paid ref at Big Creek then you better be in favor of the one who hired you. What do you think of that? We figured it out half way through the first quarter how it would turn out...so second half we went a step further and you see bc didn't do much either. So no crying here............... A running back cannot grab a opposing facemask and call it a stiffarm, but they did and it wasn't called. Unsportsmanlike conduct can be called on a team because of their spectators actions. Face Masking is called on defenders and blockers, unless he slams someone down by the mask the carrier has every right to stiff arm into the mask to gain more yards. If you would like I can come read it to you or maybe buy a pop-up book to help you out. Over the last 20 years Hurley has played a lot of WV teams (Iaeger,Big Creek,Matewan,Williamson,Montcalm,Tug Valley) and anybody else that within a hour to hour 1/2 drive from Hurley including a lot of KY teams (Phelps,Betsy Lane,East Ridge, and Jenkins) and this may have been the worst head ref I've ever seen. Last week is over this week is here good luck Rebels against Phelps. Oh, by the way we played last year at Phelps and lost they only called 2 penalties against Hurley so you can get good refs out of state. Good luck Rebels ! vafootballfan Posted September 21, 2008 Report Share Posted September 21, 2008 well what i saw friday night was when on a kick off a Big Creek player took a cheap shot on one of ours right in front of a ref and he ran over like he was going to throw a flag but he patted the Big Creek boy on the back and another time near the end of the game they called personal foul on Hurley kid and one of Big Creeks kids took his helment off and tried to fight with hurley boys which should have been a unsportmanlike on him if im right. also if you go to Big Creek your team has to stand on the home side of the field and get cussed all night by the Big Creek fans. also a word on the police from War the ref threw out one of hurleys kids dad for saying something to him about a call he made then they stand in front of us in the bleachers like they were waiting for us to say something else so they could throw someone else out and not 50 feet away Big Creeks fans were cussing and threating our Kids. Its a rule btw, 9.4.3 NFHS case book. Got tired of waiting for my dad to get back from his ride lol. And there is a 5 yard and 15 yard variety, and it is enforced from the spot of the penalty.
