VA vs. TN All Star Game this Saturday!

I am really excited about this game...sometimes you see games like this on paper and they look "OK"...but this one is sure to be a classic.

 

The Carmichael kid from Greeneville alone is worth the trip to see this game...for those of you who have not seen this kid play, do yourself a favor and come see the show.

 

There will be kids from all over the SWVA area representing VA, so lets get out and support these SR's for one last game.

 

There will be kids from most of the local schools like Gate City, Lebanon, Honaker, Grundy, Richlands, Abingdon, Clintwood playing in this game...you name it the list goes on. 40 to 50 of the top SR's from our area will be on the VA team.

 

The game will be played this Saturday, December 18th, 2010 at Science Hill High Scool in Johnson City TN.

 

Tickets are $6 and if you need any please let me know and I can get them for you.

 

If you have never been to this stadium, it's brand new and amazing...you will love it! One of, if not the best in this area.

 

I will be there, and I'd like to see as many of you guys at the game as possible...take your women folk to the Mall for some Christmas shopping if they don't want to go, and come and enjoy this game with us.

will post up a full roster later today (I hope)...I am awaitng an email with the final rosters for both teams...some changes had to be made due to a few injuries, schedule conflicts, and that sort of thing.

Hello, folks! It's been a while since I've posted on here, because I've been off the SWVA sports beat for a few years now.

 

When I registered here, I was the producer for Abingdon's sports...football, baseball, and basketball. I don't know when during that time frame it was, but I know at some point I probably provided some scores or some such thing.

 

A few years ago, we moved the WABN studios back up to Abingdon. That effectively ended my run as producer for those sporting events. The station still does all Falcon basketball, baseball, and football to this day, but the station manager there has other help...mainly because driving to Abingdon for games would be prohibitive to my regular work.

 

Since then, one of the group's Bristol stations started into high school football, with one season of Dobyns-Bennett games, and then the past three for Sullivan South. I still listen online for Abingdon's games as I can to provide scores on our sister station, and I kinda miss the broadcast team up there.

 

That said, the Sullivan South station, WPWT (870 AM and 100.7 FM) will be broadcasting this game on Saturday. I'll be back at the controls in the studio, and I'm told the entire broadcast team from South's games will be broadcasting, complete with sideline reporters for the teams from each side of the state line.

 

I'll talk to the play-by-play man, Tom Taylor, and see about when the pre-game show is to begin and all the particulars. If you're out of the area, you can always listen online at Powertalk870.com. Our AM signal typically gets to about Wytheville, but is sketchy starting a little before there.

i know one consideration, and probably the biggest, is that practice is at Va High school and there were activites every day this week going on leading up to this game...so if anyone wanted to participate they had to be able and willing to be in bristol pretty much every day this week...for some of the outer areas of the region it was just not practical as it was too much of a drive time for the kids to make it there every day. I don't know if anyone is out beyond Grundy, being about a 2 hour trip to Bristol. Considering that and the weather it's not hard to see where it could be a problem for people to make it in all week.
