That's strange...the farther you get away from Roanoke, the worse the teams seem to fare. I'm sure that's the case, because the alternative would be for the RT to not know what the Hell they're talking about.

I was going to say the exact same thing. Most interesting to me was the 1 point AHS win over Northside. A 9-1 team vs a 4-6 team....1 point victory. Hmm? I know the level of competition and SOS is to be considered, but geez man....1 point???

Now everyone knows Abingdon is mediocre at best and hardly even deserves to be in the presence of such 3A royalty. They only put up 50 plus points on gate city, shut out Marion and beat that always easy to defeat Richlands squad. And that slow Graham team they lost to, Psht shouldn't even be in the playoffs.

Roanoke Times has the same disease all the press has . See earlier post about Bristol. Can't embarrass our local teams and predict that they are gonna get their butts kicked.

Exactly. It's pretty comical sometimes, and knowing that's what they do, I just have a good laugh about it. No disrespect to Northside, and maybe they even win or beat Abingdon by a lot (everything is possible in sports), but knowing what they do coming in, it's a nice little chuckle when I see their score predictions involving non-Timesland teams.

Robert Anderson is a very nice and knowledgeable high school athletics fan. With that said, most of Roanoke and the surrounding area is very parochial. Like most small media markets, they pander to their base.

No different than the television stations in Roanoke.
