  1. Per GCs facebook page, The JV boys tipoff at 6:00 oclock and the Varsity will follow.
  2. I tried to look on GCs Twitter page and didnt see anything. I'll ask around and see what I can come up with. I'd hate to get up there after that long drive and the game be halfway over. I'm interested in seeing how GC looks with the young guns from last years JV team. They were great on defense and I feel Luke Reed will be one of the best rebounders to ever come through GC. The kid has an unreal motor and plays with a chip on his shoulder. I honestly think GC will be a bit better than some expect without McClung. Scoring will be spread out and the defense should be much improved. The one area that concerns me will be point guard play. I think John Compton is said to be the main PG but we will see. I'm sure Dean will bring the ball up the court alot as well.
  3. Not sure what all Eastside has back. I know they lost Lawson and another big contributor but cant remember his name. If they even resemble what they had last year they will make it a game. They were a very gritty bunch and seemed to be well coached the few games I seen them play. I'll be at the game tomorrow. I heard tonight that the JV would play around 6:30 and Varsity would follow. I'll try to double check and find out for sure.
  4. Holy schnikess.....Now that's turrible! There should be some sort of slaughter rule to where once your 50 pts ahead you should have to sit a player and play against the other team 5 vs 4. And judging by that score it wouldnt have mattered
  5. I think the GC girls have something brewing. Expect big things out of them for the next few years.
  6. Good luck to both teams! Hope one of you guys bring back the trophy to SWVA.
  7. Mac is in a shooting slump big time and didnt play with the same effort tonight he did the previous 3 games. Just hitting a few mid range jumpers or going to the charity stripe for some freebies might loosen him up and get him going. But if you benched every player on the Hoya team tonight that wasnt hitting their shots they wouldnt have had enough players to put on the court. The whole team was putrid. Their 3pt shooting % is glaring though.....something has got to give if the Hoyas want to be competitive in conference play. Mac, Akinjo, Blair, Pickett, and Malinowski have to hit their wide open looks.
  8. I agree that his defense has been rough. Hes been burned bad several times on backdoor cuts and hasn't been sharp ..but to be honest for Akinjo to be touted for his defensive skills hes looked as lost as anyone on D. I expected more from him on that end of the court. The whole team is lacking...but I think they will tighten up. I wouldn't know first hand but i would assume adjusting to the college level of play is quite the task especially when you wasnt asked to play top notch D in high school. I think his deep ball will start to fall once he makes a few and gets back his confidence. Once he starts hitting his mid range jumper the rest will follow suit.
  9. Hes playing well in transition tonight but hes struggling from behind the arc and has been since the 1st game. Needs to get his deep ball rolling.....once he does defenders will have to respect his shot and he will get plenty of opportunities to attack the rim off the dribble. Other than the typical freshman mistakes.....they are playing well for Georgetown!
  10. Had to upgrade to the Sports Package just to see the game last night. Hopefully alot of their games will be on FSN. It's worth the extra $15 a month im paying now if I get to see Mac on TV once a week.
  11. He would be good for most of the kids and is probably what the program needs. Hed get alot of kids to come out and play for the simple fact of who he is alone and probably breathe life into the program. But the special snowflakes and their parents would faint when he got on their arses and tried to toughen them up. Would be an interesting hire though.....however, not a snowball's chance in hell. He would have been a nice hire after Colobro left when there was still plenty of spine in the program. Still some tasty food for thought.
  12. "Names that Rhyme with Herald" for 100 Alex....
  13. It's a good thing I keep my chest waders nearby so I can slip them on before I check out the board..... chit is getting deep! Seriously though, for the love of god (insert Chris Farley face)....make the right choice out of the options you have and stick with it. The program needs some stability. Whoever gets the job has some serious work cut out for them and it wont be fixed anytime soon. Just some progress at all would be an encouraging sign though. Good luck to whoever gets the job ...I'll be there supporting the kids again next year.
  14. I cant take anyone seriously who doesn't even have Graham in their Top 10 in 2A.....aside from having GC at 8. And I'm aware this particular OP can never be taken seriously anyhow. I think the GMen will be very solid again this year. Graham was no doubt the 2nd best team from VA that GC faced all year. Radford was very good.....but not quite on Grahams level IMO. If Graham had beat GC in the rematch they would have been your 2A champs. Having Radford as a favorite to win it all is understandable as they didnt lose anyone off last years team. Wouldn't be surprised to see them win it again. GC obviously lost alot of offensive firepower with McClung being gone, but I think this GC team will be able to score at will and it should be more evenly spread out. Also this team should be very good defensively with the addition of the JV guys who bring the heat....will be much more depth to interchange guys out and keep fresh legs. Rebounding should be much improved as well. Will be a much different looking team.....Not saying better but they will be solid. GC beating Western Albemarle, Northside, and Jefferson Forest just a few weeks ago tells me all I needed to know about this team before getting to even see them play together without Mac. I think Martinsville will be in the thick of things again this year. Might be another year out but will be hard to beat nonetheless like they always are. DR I'm sure has a team full of athletes as usual but I feel like Mavahi is the better of those two teams. Dont think I'd have DR in my Top 5 right now. No disrespect....but Wise Central wont be much of a factor now after losing McAmis to an ACL tear. I would offer up Union as another team representing SWVA as Top 10 material...I think they will be very solid this year getting back Wes Slagle. I can't offer any thoughts on East Rock, Goochland, or Appo since I didn't know much about them last year. Not sure what all they have returning.
  15. Would imagine those teams were missing a few players. GC is missing a few of their own....but the biggest pieces in Ervin and Dean dont play football and have remained in basketball form throughtout the summer.
  16. Ohhhh how the times have changed.... So true though! Actually the only info I had seen on this came from an individual from the Charlottesville area that posted on TOS. I had never heard of the Fall Shootout but its basketball in September so most dont have interest and understandably so. I refrain from posting too much about GC football right now. Usually turns into a sh*t slinging pess fest. I keep up with it and read the mess....but dont dive in neck deep like i used to. I try to practice reading more and posting less. Being a member of Rivals has taught me that lol
  17. Anyone have any info on the basketball games that were played there and what teams were in it? Heard that GC played Western Albemarle and Northside but thats all the info ive gathered and cant really find anything on the results of the games and who all was actually there to play. Anyone with any info out there....spill it if you got it.
  18. Abingdon scores early in the 3rd. Now up 24-13 on the Devils. Seems like the flood gates are about to break open.
  19. Abingdon scored twice in 2 mins to end the half.....they are now up 17-13.
  20. No kidding. Be happy to see them notch one. They need something positive to hang their hats on. GC just stripped the ball and recovered it. GC ball on Abingdons 40 with 7 mins left in the half.
  21. Vermillion with a fake punt to Mack...TD. Gc up 13-3
  22. Im definitely not going to make the claim that Mac is an NBA player.....im just hoping he does well in college. But to make the Power 5 comment when it comes to college basketball and claim hes not a Power 5 type player.....explain to me what other 5 conferences are better than the Big East? Ill be waiting a long time to hear a response I guarantee it. If he can do well in the BE, he could play in any conference in the country and hold his own. At this point i just hope he has a successful career for the Hoyas and makes SWVA proud....but IMO he is by all accounts a "Power 5" type player. That has nothing to do with being an NBA player....totally different animal. Theres only one conference thats clearly better than the Big East from top to bottom in basketball and thats the ACC. Id take the best 5 teams from the Big East over any of the other conferences aside from the ACC and feel very good about it.
  23. East Rock along with Radford, Graham, Martinsville, Lee, DR, and possibly GC. In no particular order....i feel like those teams will all be in the Top 10. I feel pretty comfortable in saying Radford will be Top 3 and they are my pick to win it. But i didn't see ER last year to know just how good they will be this year. Martinsville will be very tough and so will Graham. Also, Union will be getting Slagle back. Depending on how well his knee has healed, the Bears could be really tough as well and cause issues for alot of teams. They were pretty solid without him. If hes back to at least 70-80% they will be a very good team. Anyone from Eastern VA that will be a force next year?
  24. Congrats to the Gmen. They came in with a great game plan. GC came out hot then fell flat after the 1st qtr and relied on the long ball while Graham stuffed the paint. GC couldn't throw a ball in the ocean and didnt even attempt to go to the rim much. Good luck to you fellas next week and hope to see you down the road.
  25. Bradley better show up and knock down some shots and take the ball to the rack. I think the score will be something like 63-58....dont see a 15+ pt game at all.
