bgibb got a reaction from starcityfootballfan in Martinsville at Graham
The 12th man needs to show up tonight at Mitchell, these boys have said all year long they feed off of our crowd. G-Men Nation it's time to get out the blankets and hand warmers and show up!

I think it's a matter of what's happening there, rather than who's there....
They have a quarterback who is a running threat as well as a passing threat. they have a running back in Cousin who is much stronger than last season and is taking more of a "team" role. Graham has multiple threats this year. Taymon Cooke has emerged to be as much if not more of a threat than Cousin. They have a much improved defense and their overall team speed is much better. They have a couple of guys that can come in behind Cousin at RB that are just a step behind him and would start for most teams in the area in Reed and Chinault. The line, although smaller than last season is much more athletic and more agressive and have more speed. Cam Allen is a threat to run it, throw it, return it or catch it and take it to the house when he is in the game... Graham is not a one man show in Cousin....they have about 6 or 7 guys who can take it to the house on any given play.
The improvement that I have seen in Graham in the past 2 seasons has been phenomenol. Palmer and staff have really turned things around at Graham. They are more of the mold of the old Graham teams, they like contact....something that was seriously lacking after coach Carlocks passing. There is a whole lot more at Graham this year, that wasn't there last year.
I've been watching Graham play for over 40 years, it's been a long time since I've seen a team play "Graham" football, probably since 2005. You ask what's different....it's that they resemble a "Graham" team now. Us folks that have been around long enough know what I'm talking about. Young Graham fans may not know what it was like....but this team is capable of beating anybody that they play. It's been a long time since I've been able to say that.

I watched every Richlands game last year in shorts. Even the Grayson and Buckingham games...redtiger can attest to that. So far, I'm 10/10 on wearing shorts to Richlands games this year.

You play the Blues 9 more times this year you'd go 1-9....

If Mitchell Stadium and Graham brought back the steak burgers/sandwiches they made a few years ago, I would be a very happy man

Heck, if they just made those deep fried oreos, like the freaking sign says they do, I'd be happy. Lol!

Let's go G-Men. Let's show Galax what G-Men football is all about. They haven't seen real Graham football since we joined the MED. This is your last chance to show them what Graham is all about!!.

I believe that they will be if they cut out the personal foul penalties and act like they have been in this position before. Hard to do when it's been awhile since Graham has had this good of a record. I've seen many Graham teams in the past that get the, what I like to refer to as the "G-Men High". Those teams would lose to teams they should have beat because they were very over confident. I do see a difference with this current G-Men team. I'm picking Graham 36 Galax 28

bgibb reacted to NewHampshireRed in Hurley "team" prayer
A few weeks back someone called in to complain about the pre game prayer that Hurley's coaching staff and PA announcer has done for years with the team and fans. In response the school board took action to ban the coaches and PA announcer from the prayer. The team has taken it upon themselves to take a prayer on midfield prior to kickoff, sadly without the coaching staff. Non the less, Enjoy (taken from the grundy game last night)

bgibb reacted to SWVAFB in Biggest Surprise / Biggest Let Down Teams so far?
Hey guys, you got to put Chilhowie in that mix of teams that is a big surprise. The
Warriors were just 3-17 in 2 years prior to this season. Now they stand at 6-1 this
Year, and probably a playoff team in A1 West. Sorry, but I don't have a disappointing
Team. I tend to dwell on the positives, and try to not look at the negatives of our
Youth. If they are playing football, I just can not say anything negative.

Biggest (and best) surprise ... Graham!
Disappointments (sadly)... Bluefield and Honaker!
-
bgibb reacted to Ryan4VT in Biggest Surprise / Biggest Let Down Teams so far?
I don't think Graham is a surprise. I had them as my dark horse to be a top 4 seed, and that's exactly what they are going to be. I think Grundy is improved, and it's a little shocking that they will probably finish the season at 8-2. Didn't see that coming. I'll go with them for my biggest surprise.
As for biggest disappointment, Bluefield and Giles are the two that come to mind. There was a lot of preseason hype around Bluefield and they have vastly underperformed. Same goes for Giles. They have a good defense, at least, but they need an offense to go along with that.

Biggest surprise for me is Graham too. I went and watched them aganist Abingdon. I was really impressed. The biggest let down is Honaker. I really thought we would be a lot better than we are. It's really hard to watch how bad we are.

Mitchell Stadium false advertises! Their sign said they have deep fried Oreos and they DO NOT! Never going back again I tell ya!

Richlands Recruits. Giles Cheats. Graham runs their mouths too much. Tazewell can't play defense. Bluefield is self imploding. Grundy is a pretender, not a contender. Anything else?
And the hot dogs at Mitchell Stadium suck.
