  1. He was responding to me on Twitter. I had asked him these questions, since I plan on coming.
  2. Anytime I travel and have to travel through the Salem-Roanoke corridor, I usually leave at least two hours early. I rarely go through that area and there isn't an accident somewhere. Also, if you have an Android smartphone, I highly recommend using Google Maps for GPS navigation. Google Maps is very quick to notify you of delays on your route and altering your course for a quicker arrival time, unlike your standard Garmin GPS.
  3. Wow... that's pretty insane. The KTN retweets my score updates weekly through the season, but the account was started by me and is run by me.
  4. Well, everyone on here should know by now what I (and the majority of everyone else in Dickenson County) think is wrong with the football team. Basketball, they lost both Hunter Sutherland (arguably the best pure shooter in the district) and Will Ratliff (big 6'8" guy in the middle) to graduation. I honestly haven't seen them yet to know what they DO have this year, and probably won't get to see them much. I just know a 68-64 win over Council is not too promising. The girls should still be OK. I might have exaggerated that part of the statement above just a little. Probably not a region contender this year, but probably a solid 4th place team in the Mountain.
  5. I made the trip up for the first meeting this year. Guess I will be there for round 2 as well. I was going to watch Hurley this week if they had won, but they didn't. I am taking Friday off. May go see Mercer Mall for awhile Friday, since I haven't been there in years, and assure myself of getting there by 5:30 at the latest.
  6. Lol. Absolutely. We suck in everything. We'll probably be lucky to be mid pack in girls basketball even this year.
  7. Yeah... Council has been down for several years now. They ran out of Nuckles kids.
  8. Wonder if it will be Brentwood Academy - Twin Springs or Mentor - Hurley levels of embarrassing?
  9. I talk frequently to @MPounder66 on Twitter. He's Dan River's stats guy I believe. He's always been very helpful keeping me updated on the teams from up that way. Great guy.
  10. I don't know what it is, but every single time I go up 81 through that Salem corridor, there are always wrecks right there in that area. Probably because the speed limit through there is 50 I think and people always want to drive 70.
  11. Ridgeview defeated Council 68-64 in a benefit game played Friday night..
  12. A little bit of trash talking all in fun never hurt anyone. However, if you give, you better be able to receive as well. :)
  13. Bristol Herald Courier picks for Round 2: 1A West: Hurley 28, Parry McCluer 22 George Wythe 42, Patrick Henry 15 Galax 38, J. I. Burton 13 Fort Chiswell 38, Chilhowie 30 2A West: Union 21, Dan River 20 Richlands 24, Glenvar 14 Roanoke Times picks for Round 2: 1A West: Galax 41, J. I. Burton 21 George Wythe 43, Patrick Henry 13 Parry McCluer 27, Hurley 26 Fort Chiswell 31, Chilhowie 19 2A West: Appomattox 34, Giles 24 Graham 35, Martinsville 21 Richlands 28, Glenvar 21
  14. I know I ruffled some of the Union's fanbase feathers on here about the whining about travelling thing, but hoping you guys go in to Ringgold tonight and punch DR in the mouth. Mountain District representing baby!
  15. Kind of off topic here, but I noticed Elizabethton plays Alcoa this weekend. They're both 1 loss teams and number 1 seeds out of their region. How do they determine that Alcoa gets the home field advantage?
  16. Wow... didn't realize that Cherokee was big enough to be a 5A school. Also, so basically, the four teams in 1A Region 1 are guaranteed playoff berths every year?
  17. Lol... they don't hardly even cover NASCAR anymore. Before September, the last several years, race week in Bristol had more coverage on the Battle at Bristol than the actual race week itself. I enjoy reading Tim Hayes' work, especially on the History with Hayes each Friday.
  18. Actually, I think Wayne of Ohio did.
  19. Has Jimbo tried getting the game moved to UVa-Wise yet? Lol.
  20. I usually park out on Alt 58 and walk. Lol.
  21. He's just mad because he has to leave Wise County into the great unknown...
  22. The first few years of this format, they did 16 teams, but the results of first round games between the 1 and 16, 2 and 15 etc., were SO lopsided, they narrowed the East down to 12 teams instead of 16.
