Anyone who looked at last nights score and thought “Thomas Walker” hung tough should know that the score was 40-6 at the half and T W never pulled their starters. Everyone played including the 9th grade team.
Union has had trouble defending the passing game and a mobile QB both of those exist at RV . I would expect that Travis will limit RV touches with time consuming drives with the running game but don’t be surprised if we go deep . Travis will try to wear the RV stars out making tackles (Hill) he will run right at him with a lineman ( Jarvis) as a lead blocker. Smash mouth has been reborn , the ghosts of Jim Riggs and Tom Turner will be smiling watching this one.

Nope , just being Travis. That’s the reason we have strong teams every year, today’s starters were 3rd stringers in the 9th and 10th grades . Travis played them early and often to check them out, they are not bad , just young small and weak but time will fix that. In a year or so or maybe if injuries come this will pay dividends
Watched some videos on Hudl , Spotswood appeared slow, average size except for one really big kid, passing game seemed average too. Va High will smoke these guys, but it is a long trip , are they playing Sat.?

For the G-Men faithful, I read on VaPreps that Clarke County needs a game this weekend. It looks like they just opened up today. Quite a bit of distance between Bluefield and Berryville, about 4.5 hours driving time from one town to the other. It would also feature a top five 2A matchup with Clarke ranked 5th in the Virginia Preps Rankings and the G-Men ranked 1st in the state.
Yeah, very small school 304 grades 8-12 , we could have played Va High , Betsy, or maybe the new Westridge HS in Kingsport or even Volunteer HS as long as we don’t play them Ky schools

I feel like you just get upset anytime someone says that a team might beat Union. I’m not downing Union or Graham at all. A lot of respect for those programs. And hell me and dad drove 3 and a half hours to BSG to blow our horn for Union a few years back. But there is a reason Riverheads has won 41 straight. It’s because they run a style of offense that no scout team can imitate, especially in a weeks time. All im saying is this year Graham nor Union would beat Riverheads.
Back in Giles was the BEST single wing team PV managed to run scout teams pretty well and I would bet money that Giles would beat the socks off of Riverheads. My point is this , you can read your keys just like ole Phil Robbins coached and Travis Turner was taught by Robbins and his father Tom Turner, Clarke Co beat us because of a defensive cord. that refused Phills help. If you read your keys it’s simple
We will never know, unless SD win AA and RH wins state or Appomattox meets SD for state and beats them by 40+ or Union or Graham wins by 40 + but we will still speculate.Riverheads is rolling right now , that is something we cannot argue about
Now back to Gate City vs Union, not my kid not my team Buttttt, Jenkins is being misused , they tried to run this kid inside , he has speed to burn, pitch it to him, wildcat QB , throw it deep, across the middle but get him in space. Good lord , the only time he got loose was against 2nd and 3rd team players. Just not built for inside running. Good teams tend to make the other team make mistakes, so both Graham and Union made the other one make mistakes.I for one know that the refs were bought off, I seen Jeremy Pruitt ( former Tennessee coach) passing out their money in McDonald’s bags , now disprove that even the NCAA said he does it . Enough of the Ref stuff, was it a perfect game for either Team,? No so let’s see where the road leads and maybe we will get to see these two go at it again
Unions Band kicks butt,some bands just beat their drums, cause noise, but Union plays loud Music, I don’t like the long haired stuff . If you ever seen Surrys’ band they put on a show even in 3 inch deep mud like they did at State finals against Appalachia in Big Stone Gap,many years ago
