Not to mention the awful calls. Viking Hall went up in boo's multiple times, and I'm positive everyone here isn't from GC.
McClung led all scorers with 20
Ervin 17
Dean 10

Any predictions on tonight's games?
GW over Richlands - GW Beat a really bad MM team. MM couldn't even fill out their line up card and gave me a couple passes sitting in the stands. GW great shooting team. but I could see Richlands winning too. Going to be a great game.
Honaker over Bell - Local pick - Bell did not look that good against Ridgeview.
Union over Eastside - payback time for the Bears.
Wise over JIB - just a guess

As stated on another thread. Mountain Mission has an A and B team. It's not their A team, the A team is playing in the South Granville Holiday Invitational in Creedmoore, NC just like last year.

I mean bald point at the 2 bucks a game. But how many people are coming for all 18 games? I'd wager less than 5% you'll get better attendance for the semi finals And 1st/3rd place games. The other games will be comprised of people who "have" to be there. Maybe a few just come for the hell of it.
I know y'all want to make money and such just giving my opinion for a better draw. Imagine. Bringing a family of 5 for one game. That's 50 bucks and not even including concession. People aren't gonna spend it is all. Maybe that will. Hope I'm wrong!

Very few are coming to watch all the games and then pay out the ying yang for a bottle of water and a dog. Its to much , especially when you have to pay for a family of three or four and times that by three days and it equals to much.

Kids get interested in other things. They get tired of having practice every day. They are kids first and foremost. I don't blame them for taking time away from sports. They have one more semester of school before they graduate. They have colleges to apply for.. Scholarships and financial aid to try to get. So what if us old codgers don't get to see them play basketball?
I quit a team one time and told the coach while he was screaming at me where he could stick his whistle.. I didn't need an adult screaming at me . I had better things to do .. It wasn't fun anymore.

Hey guys, there comes a time in your life when ones emotions overcome good common sense. I think
That is what happened to me today in my rant over this Basketball issue at Richlands.
I was wrong. I apologize. Please forgive me for my mistake in my bad judgement in this matter.
I went back and read the post, all of them, and yes, I made a mistake in my posting things that
Just was not right, and I ask for everyone's forgiveness, especially the young man in the matter.
Thanks everyone for your support. God Bless.

The thing is though both boys probably help the team but are not needed. Richlands is deep. They played 9 solid guys in Virginia High School tournament. I think they dressed 10-11? Lowe brings size but slows them down transition wise. Richlands bread and butter is transition. They get out and run they will score and score a lot. You stall them in a halfcourt set and they struggle. Somewhat turns into a one on one game in a HC set.

They are kids. They are both 17 or 18. They don't have to play a sport simply because Richlands is a "small school" and "needs every man" to play. They don't HAVE to do anything. Whether or not you think they shoul, they simply don't have to play any sport. They're not adults. They're kids. They don't have an obligation to play basketball if they don't feel like they want to. That's not making excuses, that's just flat out how it is. You don't have to be part of this board if you don't want to. But if someone leaves, you don't see people calling their reasons "shxx."

I would imagine the head coach took offense to both of them choosing a football all star game over a regular season game IMO.
The Lowe kid was a member of the "dream team" and played with those boys for a long time. He just would not up and choose not to play. Something happened and IMO probably was given a hard time over playing int he All Star game.

If your heart's not in it, then you'll never succeed. That goes for everything in life. It would hurt the team more in the long run by playing and now wanting to be there.

They're high school kids. They certainly don't deserve to be called out by so-called "adults" like you because they decided not to play. They have their reasons. Grow up and stop living your life vicariously through 16, 17 and 18-year-old kids.

This is 100% true for Lowe. Burnout is real, and if your hearts not in it, it's better to not play. Lowe played through some nagging injuries throughout the football season, he probably just wants to heal.

Burnout.
These kids have been lifting and training virtually year-round for 4 solid years for sports. They've done camps starting in June, to play through basketball season, ending sometime in March. They've come off a pretty humiliating defeat in a state title game in the sport that is obviously their #1.
It's not fun anymore, and when a game stops being fun and starts being a chore, that's when it's easiest to walk away.
