Since 2009 GC has played the toughest schedule in the state. Playing Bluefield, Harlan, or a 5A TN school on the non conference slate has been brutal. Additionally, historically weak conference opponents have improved & / or experienced unprecedented runs of success (The Wright years at Battle, the Amburgy / Jimmy King success from 14-17 at Abingdon, the recent Central teams come to mind). No excuses, but a lot of those Ls came from teams that it would have taken all-time great GC teams to compete with.

Your guarantee & the stuff that comes out of my butthole bear a suspicious resemblance.

If Marion has had 12 players diagnosed by medical professionals with concussions then this program needs to be immediately shut down. That is an insane and untenable number.
-
I would immediately drop out of the Ohio version of theVHSL. Play who you want, when you want, & keep all the money. Why not?
-
Bristol, VA appears to be the 2nd largest population on the map with a 2A school (Radford #1). Surprised to see Bluefield & Big Stone fielding perennial powers with less than 1/3 of the population.
-
Where do the good football players in Bristol go to high school?

The man did his best & moved on. I’m sorry as can be for getting on here & running him down - it didn’t do anything but make me look like a fool. Only time the man’s name should be mentioned is to wish him well at his new job.
I don’t speak for anyone but myself, but I’m thankful for EVERY coach at GC, from LL to varsity. We’re damned lucky to have who we have.

Pretend I copy / pasted @UVAObserver‘s ‘Frozen: let it go’ meme... good lord

I just hope they clear the snow from the visitor stands. 🌨❄️☃️

Hudl.com; believe it was play 121. I had to make a $1,000.00 contribution to get the login, though. 😂

Strongly agree. They ain’t out there playing patty-cake. Good luck to Union till we meet again.
-
Union was flagged for 15 yard personal fouls x3. GC was flagged once & it was part of offsetting fouls which didn’t cost any yardage. Union’s final & most egregious personal foul gave GC a first down that kept them within striking distance. ⬆️ That’s from the film; can’t speak for anything anyone might have seen in person.

Question: the train horn you married... did it ever blow after your wedding night?
-
I can’t think of an occasion that isn’t improved by a train horn. I want one at my funeral. 🚂⚰️🏈

Strongly disagree. The kids may miss tackles / blocks, give up a reception, etc., but they are always in position to make the play. They are playing with effort when they are clearly out of gas, & when you combine those things it reflects great coaching. GC was down two speedsters (#12 & #2) and two lineman (#70 & #61) Friday night; that’s insurmountable with our depth. Also keep in mind that 3 of the teams GC has played included generational / D1 talents. Abingdon got away with one; South & RV we’re flat out better teams. GC will continue to improve (Coaching) & will be fine.

Reminder: Terry Martin won 15 games over his last two seasons including a playoff win at Appomattox... got fired.

... Taking donations to send the Adkins family to Myrtle Beach next weekend for a well deserved vacay...

I’ve never seen a team with a smaller margin of error. If GC commits zero turnovers / penalties, they can play with anyone. Tackling must improve, but this, last, & next week’s backs probably have a lot of folks saying that.
Tale of the tape:
GC: 4 fumbles lost, 2 INTs, most (combined) personal fouls I’ve ever seen in a game that wasn’t played in KY.
-
Everyone on this thread / board seems to be looking forward. A wiser man than myself once said ‘Take ‘em one game at a time & everything will take care of itself.’
-
I like that Rare Breed. 🦃

Somebody that knows more should definitely verify, but I think he pulled in 12 TD catches & has some big runs (off jet sweeps). I think he had some big returns. I’m the type that can remember what I had for breakfast in 1988 but can’t remember yesterday. 🤷🏽♂️

Mac played WR in 2015 & had a monster year. Personnel decisions lead to his specializing after the 15 season - but we’ve covered all that in previous threads.
-
I knew the final score & was still a nervous wreck watching the tape. All I know is that I’m officially out of the prediction business.
Anyway, the week 1 win probably increased week 2 attendance by 2500 or so. Legion Field will be rocking for the Falcons.
