  1. Seemed like 23 didn't have his usual day according to stats. Put it on the ground too, makes it tough even for good teams to overcome. Good runner, suited for that offense, not so much between tackles kind of back.
  2. It could be worse, ever watch loudmouth on ESPN? At least it's local and partly in fun, if some of you actually knew these guys you'd be surprised how much they're rooting for region D no matter what. They're stating opinions based on their experiences, knowledge, and bias. Yes bias, we all lean towards our alliances but there's no harm intended or done. Enjoy the game, and for the record crigger has a beautiful voice. Would have been better if the old guy played spoons and tester on bass. My autocorrect tried to spell chigger, makes sense lol.
  3. hearing through the grapevine that a couple of wise county (current) coaches names are in the hat.
  4. Another nail biter all the way to the end! One has been there, the other keeps defying the odds and playing team ball.
  5. that doesn't seem too fair. I've saw film (u-tube) from appo side with electronic siren blaring before, during, and after plays. works for one should work for all, just saying. personally, I say bring all the noise makers in the world to create the loudest game ever, each week. players and TRUE fans of a great game will always appreciate it. I see a lot of u-tube how to build horn tutorials throughout this crowd in the near future, say august 21.
  6. gonna go out on a limb here and say that more than 75% of every game in the past 30 years probably has/had a band playing all through a game. that's part of the atmosphere, NOISE! Train horns are not everyone's cup of tea, don't sit near them just as you can choose not to sit by the band, B.O., or in-laws. I'm not certain any kid has ever said I can't stand a loud game while they were playing. Winners will not complain about factors they can't control during a game but losers on the other hand sometimes have trouble accepting the fact it may have been their fault they didn't perform their best and got beat. So why not blame the noise level? makes sense! "I missed my block because the drumline in the bleachers" "I knew the count and could see the ball but jumped anyway because of a horn 100yards away" "I forgot to read my key because they were stomping in the bleachers" A real problem would occur if they played a noise like "Rocky Top" lol
  7. What was it? I've heard stories but never saw. Said to be on a trailer and as great as the sound machine in earnest goes to camp lol.
  8. Spread, full house, t, it doesn't matter as long as it's played fast and downhill. You can get more creative just by making splits smaller/ larger creating better angles for blocks/traps/kickouts. Intelligent lineman make not- so- intelligent backs look great.
  9. Pulaski used to have a sound machine? Or maybe Radford? Remember hearing about it once, wasn't sure.
  10. if union can be stingy on defense and keep consistent with offense mixing it up between the backs/qb running, it'll be a close game. central defense pretty solid, offense busts big plays but can they sustain long drives? 24-20 game could go either way
  11. and for 90% of all involved the rivalry is not an issue after reaching adulthood. both are proud of their respective school, and should be. you've only got a handful on either side that'll never admit it's wrong to keep it going rather than let it go and use that energy/focus for the current program. train horn is loud, but absolutely wonderful in a game/stadium setting. games should be loud. yall put that childish stuff behind you, meet up and thumb wrestle or something. Good luck bears and warriors, wise county well represented, Norton city too. 3 M7 teams still in!
  12. Check the winter and spring sports if you want to see who might be stepping up for the fall! It's like racing in elementary school p.e. if you get going early, you win at the end.
  13. Whatever the case, not sure how you compare four different teams in two different years. Makes for interesting talk but the numbers don't lie. None of it will hold much water when thinking about what lies down the road in the semis. Statistically speaking, never would have thought union would be held to nothing the way they were, but it happened just as it happened in bluefield the first time was a big surprise that went the other way. After watching g-men play, I hope they bring the same intensity and attitude to appomattox. Good luck.
  14. Central is dangerous, they don't know they're not supposed to be there. Young and hungry, hope it's enough, good luck.
  15. Especially since the venue in question has been recognized and used how many years? Terrible effort lol
  16. It'll depend on how well those quick lineman hold up, and get down on those lbs, if they play solid defense it'll be interesting
  17. Anyone that has played/coached and won/lost in loud stadiums always appreciate it. When teams win in a loud stadium they are thankful for the loud support but fail to blame it for a loss. Take notes from the kids and just enjoy the game. Just as any community has great supporters, I can assure you that you represent the small contingent existing on both sides that simply look for the negatives. I guess if you were to call plays, you'd only call the plays that result in TDs. Come on man/woman, you've got to be better than that. Maybe take up trout fishing.
  18. Toughest schedule? Don't know, several on here look as tough or a little tougher but that's irrelevant once the playoffs start. Point system is flawed without doubt.
  19. Now, I believe central can say they're solid. Great win, good luck next week to both.
  20. Perhaps if things were perfect, this should be the region championship, thankful others brought it this season to make things interesting. All about matchups in high school. Good luck and glad it's decided on the field and not paper or discussion boards.
  21. Said it early in the season, looking like big blue from days past. Great season, hoping for more success and building the conference/ region into a more competitive place to play. Always gonna be a couple near the top above everyone else, getting those guys from the depths is great.
  22. Think it's more likely due to weak ooc schedule, stil a good season for them again, with opportunities to win and secure a better spot than the current rock and a hard place. They're getting consistent, just gotta get over the hump.
  23. Don't seem right to put it on a team that probably had already started turning equipment in and ready for winter sports either. Should and could be fixed by taking away the playoffs charity system allowing too many in.
