I agree @Union_Fan, we had 3 guys engaging with the offensive line, the DE's were out of the play before it ever started. With a DE standing up, you basically just have to get in his way to block him, instead of engaging contact and pushing him out of the way. No matter what Central kicked Unions butt all over the field, and was the better team that night.
I watched some of the Richlands game, and for the first quarter Union looked like world beaters, and then they start backing off, and not burying a team and finishing them off.
I hope Union don't go to Abingdon with the same defensive scheme as they had against Central or Union will be in for a long night. I know you have to mix it up, but Union better come ready, Abingdon has a solid offensive line, good backs, and their passing game is not bad at all!!

It was discussed some. Probably more in the stands. I think the turning point was the muffed punt. There was a huge difference in the players' demeanor after that. They were flat coming in,  but seemed completely deflated after that.

This post and your other one, about the DE's role in Jones' D, support what @#BBN and I were trying to say. I don't think we were saying it was a 3 man front specifically because there were 3 men down. @foosballer was asking were the term 3 man front was coming from, and I referenced the 3 men down because the DE's were just standing there.
I agree wholeheartedly that in Jones' D, he ran a 4 man front because of the role of the DE's. Against Central, there may have been 5 guys on the LOS, but only 3 were actually engaging the OL, the other 2 were essentially taken out of the action.

I agree, and that is the reason I said 3 man front! It also didn't help having an undersized guy playing nose tackle.....No matter what, Central handed it to them in the running game, and basically for 4 full quarters.

The term 3 man front is coming in because 2 of the 5 guys were standing up. You're doing a strong running team a favor by doing that. No leverage, and half the lineman's job is done for him. Four down linemen doing some stunts with LB's blitzing the alternate gap, would have been much more effective.

What about the idea that in 2023 each class will become its own governing body? At that point can 2A say they want to have two sub divisions, 2A-1 with enrollment of 376 - 550 and 2A-2 with enrollment of 550 - 750?

Well said Tigerman10!!! I feel if you are not able to make the right call in critical situations, you do not need to be officiating the game!!!! To much buddy/buddy in the AOA........commissioner makes sure his boys get the big games, and his boys are the best officials out there!!!

Officials are often instructed to “let the players decide it,” but by swallowing their whistle actually decide the game even more so.  
 
A foul should be a foul depending on the way the game has been called from the first quarter on. There’s a lot of subjectivity to what a foul is between officials, but by crunch time it should be established what is going to be called and what isn’t. 

I am not saying the refs cost anybody a game, and dont think that refs can decide a game by missing or making calls.
My dad has reffed for 25+ years, and we have always discussed that refs cant win or lose a game on a call, because at some point during a game each team had a chance to make plays to win the game.
I just dont see how refs swallow their whistle during crucial moments of a game!!! 
Like stated above, if free throws are made, that doesn't matter, but the free throws was not made........so all in all, I hate it for Central, but that's the way it goes sometimes!!!! On to baseball they go!!!

This was 2.1 seconds left in the Central/Radford game!!! Not that it matters now the game is done and over with, but how can a foul be ignored right here?

My opinion is as long as there is time left on the clock, a foul is a foul and it should be called.  I get you don’t want to have a ref decide a game but rules are rules.  This was obviously a foul and should have been called.

I get that. Just pointing out, I agree with your assessment. It’s a shame because at any other juncture of the game, a foul would have been called on either one of two players. End game situations shouldn’t be treated differently. 

They don’t cross until the championship so if both GC and Wise advance, GC would be the home team and likely play at VA High again.  Same for the girls, Union would be home team and likely play at UVA-Wise.

What about the kids that fight for rebounds, play defense, get assist, come up with steals.....oh I forgot they must suck because they didn't score.......go on somewhere with your BS!!!!  Central had some good play from many different players, Collie, Bishop, Brickey, and Bailey all made some plays during this game!!
If you didn't notice, Vermillion was substituting for Offense and Defense possessions last night when their 2nd best scorer was in foul trouble! Mack,Starnes, and the George kids all played good minutes for Gate City in different situations. If some of those turnovers were not forced by these non talented kids, this ballgame could of been a blow out!!
So before you get on here blasting kids, and teams saying they have no talent, realize basketball is so much more than scoring!!!
Central was 7-15 from the free throw line and GC was 18-20 from the free throw line.......so all in all that was the determining factor in the game.

What good does outplaying someone's starters and getting beat? At the end of the day Central moves on and Richlands goes on to start baseball season! Last I checked only thing that matters is the final score when the final buzzer sounds off!

Their is talent around him, but hard to see it when they never get the opportunity to show it!!! Most are scared to shoot it, or make any mistake because they will get pulled to the bench!!!
