My boys here in Radford had a crazy game with Gate City last year. The white kid had mad skillz. Now that he is gone and going over what I saw in the playoffs here is my preview for this way to early basketball poll. Feel free to comment. 
 
1.  Radford - Our guys havent forgot the last game they played and who they faced. Word on the Avenue is the Cats want a piece of that title held by Gate City and plan on taking it by force. Bobcats take it all this year. No questions. 
With QMR, Cormany, Jones and company we will have the title in hand come March. But for Gate City all you have to say is No Mac McClung.... No State Title. 
Nice run but it's done now. 
2.  Dan River 
3. Goochland
4. East Rockingham
5. Martinsville
6. Appomattox
7. Central-Wise. -  Had friends who went to watch Gate City play this team in their conference tourney and said without the Mac kid this team would have beat them.  Gate City is upset early by this team this year. 
8. Gate City - Watched Gate City play at Radford. Without the Mac kid they do not go anywhere. The tall white kid Irving is good but not as good as the pogo stick.The other kid Deans I think it is didnt do much that I saw. They will be very easy to guard and what I saw from the program not very athletic or tough. The Blue Devils get one year to experience a championship.  It's back to normal this year with the Cats. 
9. Glenvar - The Landers had a young team last year and played very competitive. Keep an eye out. 
Tie 10. Robert E. Lee - Staunton -  New head coach in second year and they lose a transfer guard and Vaughn who is going to Old Dominion. Lee will be competitive but not their old selves. Getting stunned in state took some steam out of their sails. If Lee makes it out of East somehow they get the Cats. Not much better for them again either. 
Tie 10. Central Woodstock

Yeh, maybe so.  But I have one thing Social Media doesn't have...a filter. 

If it is so common for SWVA athletes to "blow up," name another SWVA athlete who has over three-hundred thousand followers on instagram and growing by the day.  And every video he has posted surpasses 1 million views. Ball is Life youtube page has over 1 million subscribers and follows Mac to his games.  About to pass Moses Malone and Allen Iverson in points in the state of Virginia. He's playing in the top 20 players in the nations all American game.  Chosen as 1 of the top 20 players in the nation and you claim he has average defensive skill.  He has no one to defend, it's easy to slack off and not play defense when your playing against no offensive skill.  For someone to say Patrick Ewing " doesn't care a lick about defense is a gallon of not knowing a player and being out of touch with what people like to see in basketball.

All good man.  Trust me, I've been in a chair for almost 27 years and I am not easily offended. lol  I guess I just took your comment the wrong way

I'm sorry that you were offended. And I agree with everything you said.  

This dunk was just featured on in a segment on ESPNs Highly Questionable w Dan LeBatard. Pretty cool.

(3) He doesn't fit anything Buzz Williams wants to do on the floor at either guard spot.  Buzz needs someone to control the basketball, control tempo, and lock down the opposing PG in order for his teams to play the way he wants to play.  I'm not sure McClung can do any of that with an ACC schedule, especially the way Buzz wants it done. 
(4) Virginia Tech already has commitments from Landers Nolley, Jarren McAllister, and Jon Kabongo.  All three fit what Buzz wants to do and are ranked higher than McClung by ever recruiting ranking service.  I've seen McAllister and Kabongo play.  Buzz is significantly improving PG play with those two commitments. 
I am not taking shots at McClung before anyone makes an irrational claim.  He just doesn't fit anything Virginia Tech wants to do on the basketball court. 

Two primary reasons, and I’ll list them in order of importance:
 
(1) For all of McClung’s offensive accolades, and there are plenty, his defensive game is still very much a work in progress.  He rates average at best in almost every facet of his defensive game when compared to Division I talent.  SC Top 10 dunks aren’t going to happen when he plays Villanova, Butler, Seton Hall, Xavier, Providence, and Creighton next season.  Defense, however, translates. Thankfully, Patrick Ewing doesn’t care a lick about defense at Georgetown (at least, not perceptibly), so McClung should get his opportunity to be a volume scorer there.
 
(2) He blew up awfully late in the 2018 recruiting cycle, which is common among SWVA athletes.  Therefore, he didn’t attract major D1 interest early on.

Lady Bears fall in a tight game where Union led for long stretches. 

Not havin 7 hold back kids really hurts them this year.

Way below average coach is the biggest problem I’m hearing!! They won’t make any noise this year. 

Graham girls picked up their 3rd win of the year against Richlands

Below average coach + average talent = Richlands basketball. 
They have played a cupcake schedule to get to 8-0 with wins against weak 1A opponents. 

So, the Blue Tornadoes drop to 0-3 in the SWD with a loss to Virginia High last night.  
The way I understand it, the Mountain 7 District will get 4 Region D bids, Grayson County will get one leaving the SWD to get 3 bids.  The Richlands folks have been eerily quiet on the board, is it panic mode time yet for Richlands?

So, I was talking to an assistant coach in the region last night who I am good friends with, who gave me the supposed formula for calculating the basketball power points.  For Region D anyway.
Using the formula he gave me and the schedules and results that @Beamerball has posted, I have come up with my best guess as to what the 2D power points are as he we head down the home stretch of games.
These are as of completion of the Ridgeview/Union game from last night.
Couple of notes:  I guessed at a lot of the out of state opponents, especially Gate City's Arby's opponents and Central girl's Disney opponents.  Also, I am basing this off of an average like football and not the total number of points, because there is no way all teams are going to play the same number of games.
