  1. Wow! So we would have been one opponent win away from the 1 seed. If Gate City would have pulled off the win against Clintwood then we would have been the 1 seed no matter what happened. Good thing none of that matters!
  2. Then I change my mind, I don't want one...I need one!!!
  3. I don't know what you guys are talking about...but I want one.
  4. By looking at VHSLhelpers cheat sheet it looks like Tunstall has a good shot at the 4 seed, with Marion in at 5, and Abingdon bringing up the rear (go figure) at the 6 seed. That's with out actually doing all the math and calculating the points for this week, only looking at the scenarios. If this is the case, then it would be the winner of Tunstall/Marion at Richlands in round 2.
  5. Thats what I was thinking. Im not sure how they do the pairings but the seeds should be like this: 1.Richlands 2.Cave Spring 3.Martinsville 4.Tunstall 5.Marion 6.Abingdon I was thinking it would be: First Round: Abingdon @ Martinsville Marion @ Tunstall Second Round: Marion/Tunstall @ Richlands Abingdon/Martinsville @ Cave Spring But I could be wrong.
  6. Shouldn't we have a first round bye?
  7. Abingdon Richlands Wayne Ft. Chiswell J.I. Burton Chilhowie Honaker Northwood Hurley Graham Union John Battle Grundy Lee West Virginia Virginia Oklahoma South Carolina Oklahoma St. LSU Atlanta San Fran Buffalo New England Green Bay Pitt GotWs: Gate City 34 Grayson 56 George Wythe 62
  8. I never said that it hasn't always happened. I am just saying that more stories are coming out nowadays, probably because of social media and everyone carrying a video camera (cell phone) around in their pocket. I didn't mean that they are necessarily happening at a greater rate.
  9. But you have to admit that more and more stories like this one have been coming out lately. I know that these jerks do not represent all police officers, but it does cast a dark shadow over all of them. The bigger problem is, that they all seem to back each other up no matter how wrong they are. Take the large ticket-fixing trial that is going on in NYC. Hundreds of off duty cops showed up to protest the arraignment of 16 fellow officers that were being indicted on 1600 criminal counts. (Article: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/29/nyregion/officers-unleash-anger-at-ticket-fixing-arraignments-in-the-bronx.html?pagewanted=all) How did they get the impression that they are above the law? In my opinion they should be held to a higher standards and should face stiffer penalties for using their power to commit crimes against civilians.
  10. Obviously not. ;) Sorry UVAO...I couldn't resist.
  11. To become a high school History teacher, you will have to complete a Bachelor's Degree in History with a minor in Secondary Education. To do this, you could complete your first two years of general studies at SWCC and then transfer to any 4-year college/university that has a Teacher's Education Program. Each school and state will have different requirement to become a certified teacher. However, you will basically have to take a few tests (PRAXIS and PRAXIS II) and complete a semester of student teaching, along with the other degree requirements. SWCC has a two year Associate's Degree in Education (http://www.sw.edu/Catalogs/artsandsciences/education.htm). It is designed to transfer to a 4-year school where you can complete your teacher's certification. You could do this, or you could just take general studies courses for two years and not worry about getting a specific Associate's degree. Either way I would advice that you call SWCC and talk to an admissions counselor (Here is the number of a good one: 964-7573). Tell them what your plans are and they can tell you what the best route would be. If you want to start in the Spring I would recommend that you also call the Financial Aid office and ask them what you need to be doing to receive financial aid (964-7291). Let me know if I can help you at all.
  12. That sounds like a personal problem...
  13. Good call! I'm going to go ahead and lock this down before it goes any further.
  14. Why is everyone here so...Big!?!?
  15. Yes, because teenagers are known for great decision making...
  16. What I said had nothing to do with this particular topic. I don't consider someone close minded for having a certain opinion on a subject. It's just when someone says "I think this way, and nothing anyone says will ever change my mind!" is pretty close minded, IMO. Personally, I think that's the problem with a lot of people. They have their opinions and are not willing to look at the other side...no matter what anyone says. Again, I respect your opinion on this topic, even though I disagree. Sorry for the confusion.
  17. Oh God! He better hurry and edit his post...this could be bad!!
  18. And thats the problem with close-minded people. If that is your opinion...then great! Everyone has one, and we are all entitled to an opinion. However, to have the mindset of never changing that opinion, no matter what you learn about the subject, is ridiculous. You may disagree with that, but its my opinion and I could possibly be swayed to think otherwise if you present enough information to make me change my mind.
  19. You're much more patient than I would have been this morning.
