  1. I meant in terms of changing the overall schedule. Sites cant be prepared much faster, buildings can't really be built faster. Of consolidation was set and already began then that schedule is basically set.
  2. Correct me if im wrong but between Dorton and Davis took turns winning State Defensive PotY.
  3. Absolutely. Consolidation is a necessary move but much is lost in the process. I wouldn't think it would affect consolidation at all
  4. That will be the big question going forward. Purely speculation on my part but early consolidation with Grundy may be on the table.
  5. From what im hearing the major damage is from water, not the fire itself. School isnt destroyed but the students wont be having classes at the high school for the remainder of the year, maybe longer. Theyve been through a lot the past few years
  6. Gotta start kids early running something similar to what the Varsity does imo. If the Varsity HC is a Spread guy that likes to throw it around then the youth teams need to throw the ball some, doesn't have to be 30 times a game but they need to throw the ball. If the Varsity is a Wing-T based offense, including those running Pin 'n Pull type blocking schemes, then the youth teams need to be pulling linemen. Doesn't need to be a carbon copy, and of course they should set up their schemes/plays to make the most of the talent they have; if they have a stud RB then focus on him, if they have a QB that can do a lot of things then go shotgun more, etc. Kids cant show up to JV having only ran Double Tights Wishbone. I know at Haysi the youth weren't allowed to run 3 back sets because the Varsity in all likelihood wasn't gonna run a 3 back set(at least not as a primary set) and passing was encouraged.
  7. Oh they'll see him no doubt. From what I hear several D1 programs that aren't "local" already have their eye on him, but will they offer him(assuming he develops into a player worthy of consideration) when he plays 1A ball? I doubt it but you never know. My college level predictions are generally way off
  8. I had a long response typed out that I lost, it all boils down to competition and talent produced. Union plays big games vs tough competition and has 3 players currently in NCAA Division II or higher and one in the NFL that all came through the program in the past 5 years. The Cumberland District as a whole has no one playing in college and to my knowledge hasn't sent a player to Division II or higher in at least the past 2 decades. How will this kid perform on the field vs good competition? If he stays at Rye Cove a recruiter will never know until they get him on campus. At Union he will play against good competition in the M7, not to mention non-conference games against good SWD teams and from what I hear big time NET teams.
  9. Union is young in the secondary and thats their weakness defensively. RV has the most talent in the passing game in SWVA, that will be the difference. Wolfpack by 2 TDs in a hard fought game.
  10. 13 flags thrown on each team, that's simply too many
  11. @RedPrideNation I'm a big fan of what Riverheads does offensively. Old school offense that threatens every gap up front and every zone is the passing game with relatively few plays so that the players get really good at what they're doing. Old school offenses still work; Union in the T is a force, Central has been Wing-T for a few years(more Wing-T shotgun this season), Abingdon has been primarily a I-Formation team for several years now, a few years ago Lebanon was struggling and went Power-I with some success, Twin Springs has been a I-Formation teams for a few years now. The move away from "spread" offenses is already happening, TEs and Wings are becoming the norm with fewer WRs, most are just in Shotgun now.
  12. Union would be my guess. No need to run all the way to Tennessee when Union obviously provides enough exposure to get a kid to a big time program and beyond. I believe his family lives in Duffield so its a easy change
  13. No, no, no! This is just like travel ball, if you don't get what you want you just pack up and leave. Never mind the values of dedication, loyalty, working hard to improve ones self, sacrifice for the greater good. No, none of that matters.
  14. Union fans are the most enthusiastic and dedicated to it but aren't the only ones.
  15. If this is any indicator of the situation among the fanbase of Giles, with all of this cohesion and positive, cooperative attitudes the consolidation with Narrows will surely be a great success!
  16. U by 28 Theres a huge gap between 1A and 2A in SWVA.
  17. I think hes in 9th now, not sure. He is a BIG kid. It will be interesting to see how he develops. I will say he doesn't look as impressive to me as Meadows was when he was young but he has a ton of potential. Were about to find out how big the gap between 1A and 2A is in SWVA
  18. No love for GC here but SWVA football is better when GC is good.
  19. Honeycutt is banged up, stays banged up. Not speaking poorly of the kid, that's just how his high school career has gone
  20. The Mountain 7, they've got no business there with 2A schools and 3A Abingdon. Their athletic program isn't strong enough for that imo.
  21. Nah, Richlands thought the random parade idea was so good they stole it
  22. A parade is scheduled for tomorrow at noon
  23. @BoBob thats my thought, the announcer should add to the atmosphere, not manipulate it
  24. Better athlete than QB imo, at this point anyway They have a couple of good Freshmen QBs, 1 of which stands out as a QB while the other is more of a WR. I honestly don't understand not starting the Freshmen, their passing game isn't great anyway so why not get him some reps.
  25. Speedster? They have 3 RBs, 1 of which is injured, none of which are exceptionally fast. Unless you mean in comparison to Lee cause as a team Lee definitely isn't fast
