  1. Giles should have an opening assuming they dont sign again with Haysi, in that case Haysi would have an opening also. I wouldnt mind seeing Haysi play Tazewell, its kinda lose/lose situation for Taz though.
  2. Improve is good, change well its not always good. The bulldogs should go with just the numbers on the side and a single white stripe from front to back, classic!
  3. Tigers by 2 TDs, Honaker is not what they once were but are still a solid group. I think they have enough to beat a down Tazewell team. By the way that type of thinking is what got VA High beat!
  4. I like the logo on your avatar too, I like the furman logo but tazewells version just does not look right.
  5. Glad to see the TV program doing well. Keep workin boys!
  6. Too much difference is size in a 4A system, it would b something like A 1-600 AA 601-1100 3A 1101-1700 4A 1700- Those numbers are probably way off but you get my point, 5 seems about right to me, 6 is ok but seems like a bit much
  7. District Conference same idea. It really does solve alot of scheduling problems. Why are some teams in Conferences and some not? Just up to the teams, sort of a gentlemans agreement?
  8. Districts are the way to go, a school plays local teams of similar size but still has room to schedule weak or strong out of district teams. I would like the 6 division setup if it was all of the schools split 6 ways across the state(not regionally) or if the Divisions were set according to set enrollment #s (like A is going to be next year). TNs new setup is nice, 3 groups in the reqular season, split into a 6A format for the playoffs, allows for easier scheduling(easier to fit schools into geographic districts) Also no playing up or down in a region because it really screws with the playoffs, single A schools in SWVA such as Honaker Haysi Coeburn and Clintwood(legitimate division 1 schools) have paid the price for years because traditionally AA schools(Gate City, Grundy, Graham) petition to play up, it throws the D1/D2 balance in the regions off. I know everyone is not going to agree with my last paragraph but thats how I see it.
  9. "GMan posted a list in another thread of teams who are all "geographically" related to Bluefield but absolutely will not schedule them. My personal political views don't exactly support regulation and mandatory series, but Bluefield is at a HUGE disadvantage when compared to any other WV AA school in the state and something honestly needs to be done." There in lies the beauty of districts. Put 6-7 teams that are geographically close to each other together and that makes scheduling alot easier

  11. I think he was from GC. Really nice guy. I just thought it was a great thing to get all of the kids from the three schools together
  12. This is off subject but related at the same time. One year(maybe my Jr year) a church in clintwood hosted a dinner on a thursday night (the night before thje Jamboree with Clintwood Ervinton Haysi and Pound). Clintwood Haysi and Ervinton(all of the DC schools) attended, there was good food, and a speaker(cant remember his name but he was a local guy who had a superbowl ring with the Steelers). The speaker spoke on sportsmanship and enjoying the game, he talked alot about how much playing meant to him. It was really neat to just sit down and enjoy a meal with everyone and reflect on how we werent enemies but represenatives of our schools and of the county.

    Poll

I dont want to see any of you guys leave(defeats the whole purpose of this forum) I would however like to see supporters of the losing team carry a signature supporting the winning team Maybe even a pic
  14. I would agree that Abingdon should be on the bubble
  15. At Haysi all the kids leave school and go to subway or Pizza Plus usually. Most bring their food back to the fieldhouse and eat together. My JR year for home games we would eat and watch The Replacements Theres not a ton of community spirit at Haysi(at keast its not shown), sad but true
  16. A guy that works as hard as he is supposed to(with the body he has it is obvious he works hard) could be a special teams ace. Hard working tough determined, thats what excelling at special teams is all about. He just doesent have the size or speed to be a regular on the NFL level. I could see a few teams giving him a chance though
  17. Hubbard will never be on the hot seat. Hubbard has been there a long time and will continue to be there as long as he wants to. Honakers offense is set up to give one stud running back the ball 30-35 times a game and they just dont have that stud right now, some goob backs yes but not like they did from '99-06. Honaker didnt have alot of talent or success until '99, after that they have been solid and a top team in the region. Before '99 Honaker had done nothing and im afraid they may be reverting back to that, I truly hope not.
  18. Great run! 43 had him lined up and missed, IMO the best cut of the run. The QB has a nice cut block on the backside DE.
  19. Most of the Green Dragon tradition is lost but the history is still there. What happened to TV anyway? Declining enrollment ? Garden always had some solid teams and (Whitewood didnt have alot of tradition, in football atleast) Whitewood had some good athletes. The wheels have really fallen off over there, sad to see really. I do like the fact that they have Garden and Whitewood trophies and stuff up at the school helps keep the schools and traditions alive. On a side note think of what the trophy case at Powell Valley/Appalachia will look like, 14 state title trophies and too many regional title trophies to count. Does anyone know what happened to the stuff from Pochahontas?
  20. I havent ordered anything from them but I go on there and watch the short clips all the time, anytime someone brings up an old game I go on there and try to find it and watch some of it. Really cool site!
  21. I dont know of any team that has second string special teams
  22. The Cumberland doesent play football on a level equal with the other region D districts but if you have ever been to a game between 2 cumberland teams you would know that the teams are evenly matched and hard faught. Not high quality football but darn competitive and spirited, and thats what sports is all about!
  23. I was also wondering about BDD stats And Haysi does have the best QB and has for most of the BDDs history, excluding '99 and '00 (Miller was the man) and a few other years here and there Now if we are talking RBs Honaker has them without a doubt Dont look at TDs look at yards. This year Derrick Blair has thrown for close to 800 yards. Anyone else in Region D close to that? Add on almost 200 yards rushing and youve got one fine QB and hes done it against some solid teams(excluding Holston)
  24. Nice pics! They had some good games against Haysi too
