  1. I'm like Bigrhsfan, I came out of the 70s and remember more bad than good from that time. The last ten years have been a blessing that I will always treasure. Unfortunately good times grows fans that expect winning all the time, if you have read this board for any length of time you know a few of those, all schools have them. Time always has a way of humbling them. I had a uncle who moved to Tazewell back in the 60s with his boys, would bet G-Man was good friends with him. Before I knew what football was one of his son's was always rubbing it in when them Dogs beat Richlands. Time changes things back and forth if you are around long enough to notice.
  2. He was so addicted he's still here.
  3. Have you every wondered where fulbolking went to?
  4. 15 and 0 Come guys let a man have some hope. If you could get travel football going like some of these travel softball teams a whole new level of play could be created. If you can get 7- 10 players that stick together that really have that drive and stick together7th or 8th up they could be tough.
  5. If and when Richlands gets those receivers and qb settled in they will be a different team.
  6. Richlands is in the grow mode as far as offense. If you look at the experience this year vs last year you could see. We had receivers with two, three, and four years of experience last year, pretty sure Chase played as a freshman. Of the receivers this year they look to be mostly first year with the two most experienced not playing against Tazewell. Last year you had a two time all state quarterback? This year we have a first year starter, given time he will be very good. We have always had a schedule that allowed us to grow, learn and adapt thru the season. With 4A schools stacked up front we taken that away. I still can't get over Blacksburg beating Salem as they did.
  7. This is one of those threads one could debate from now on and never accomplish anything but get cross-eye at each other. But, but you all do play Abingdon? this year so that should be a good one to look forward to.
  8. 4A -- think about the number of students and the demographics of that area. Given a solid coaching staff they should be doing just what their doing. Looks like somebody from Abingdon started the thread. Anybody know where Colorabo ended up at. Is he still coaching? back at Abingdon? Ironic thing is, for years we wanted a level playing field to complete better, we got there, and now because of points or what ever we are going back to playing teams that should have gigantic advantages.
  9. Leaving War going to Bradshaw. War has a fall festival that starts Friday, should be some street food vendors setup as you go thru they have stuff going on that night. Bud's, I get the tenderloin biscuit with a egg, things are big as a sandwich. Best biscuit I have found in this part of the world.
  10. If you remember the old John Boy 's drive thru they just opened one of those back up and they call it the Owl, it is as you are leaving War beside the old service station. They make a good Cheeseburger and fries, suppose to stay open till 7. Belongs to the Jones who own the hardware store, their daughter was a tennis coach for VT, pretty sure she made it into Tech coaching hall of fame, or something like that, some really good people.
  11. Wasn't it 2004 they meet Vick Hall and Gretna in the D-3 playoffs.
  12. Somebody send me a script. These games get me so wired up I can't go to sleep till about 3 in the morning. I'm getting to old for this. Going to have to find something less stressful.
  13. If you have read any of Va preps there are posters over there that have Graham playing Appy in the State Championship. If that is so doesn't sound like Gate City is in to bad a shape. Nobody better take them lightly, one thing is for sure, sounds like their still trying to ring them bells.
  14. Was that the same year Wayne and Martinsburg was there? Price don't bother me when you can see quality teams testing their metal. Belfry is something to see.
  15. There is a couple of Graham fans over there that are very excited about their team, looks like their using different names but looks like the same ones that has been there for years , same thought process. Looks like they have everybody believing with them, well almost everybody. Time will tell, time will tell.
  16. Was you there? The cleats didn't make a difference.
  17. There wasn't suppose to be anybody in lowly SWVA that could hold a candle to them. They thought they would come down here and walk all over us. It's called an excuse.
  18. Is there a Big Stone Gap Kentucky or did somebody from VA get in Ashley Judd safe space?? lol
  19. What did Richt do at GA? Have to be anxious about the Tech coach, He is to a offense what Bud Foster is to a defense, consistent, just don't believe we have seen his best yet.
  20. Anybody serious about wanting this job should take a tour. When they are interviewed they should be able to tell the interviewer what they can do for the program.
  21. I want to know what Belfry's secret is . 270-300 pound D-1, D-2 lineman all across the front, not one or two. Can't be all home grown. 4 state champions in a row. Dang. if you don't think it doesn't go on in many places you are a tree in the deep forest. One needs to go back and look at the teams these guys leave this will give you more answers than any. 1-9 teams 5-5 teams, some teams that have talent that they know they will be playing behind, even thou they are the elder. Or teams that don't run the type O they want to be in. It is more about being a part of a winning program.
  22. G--------- go to work thinking nothing to read tonight and this board explodes. Thinking we are headed into the winter dead mode. What happen? Could it be the full moon sure sounds like the fangs came out. Or is there somebody talking about transferring that some don't know about? Liberty is 26 miles form Appomattox- Hampton Sydney 32 miles I'm sure you have people commuting back and forth to work. Same time these schools get out and look at the locals. Couple years back read something about Hampton coaches on Brookville sidelines in playoff.
  23. I think its more about demographics. They probably just haven't had the coaching in the past. If Gretna or Martinsville could get the right coaching going they would be much tougher. Appomattox is right between Hampton and Libertys colleges some solid football minds I'm sure to draw off of. That coach will get some looks. .
  24. Against run teams they would quick adjust and shut down, speed to the ball. Against the pass only gave enough time for the short pass and so quick just not many yards after catch. Looked like game plan in many games was to get up by more than 30, 35 and create a running clock to end it quick. Hats to the ball reminds me of some of those old Miami teams. This team had enough to give 4a a tough test.
  25. For 2A Appomattox was an anomaly. At this level out of 700 kids or what ever their number is, you just rarely ever see this much talent and when you do most just don't have the coaching to pull them together and max them out. You probably had 7 to 9 who can run a 4.5- 40 yard dash. Without them Richlands had a good shot both years. We are at a place and time where we have meet somebody better than what the best would normally be. Congrats to Appomattox Proud of them BLUES.
