  1. The region by laws, say a kid that does not make all district can not make all region. Case in point, the qb from Cave Spring was second team all district. But the coaches from the other end wanted to name a utility player, even though it is not stated in the region by laws. They named the qb from Cave Spring as the utility player. As a utility player you would think of someone that has played more than one postion and pick a kid who made it as a all district player. The Cave spring kid should have not been brought up at the meeting, because he was not a number one pick from their district. Now this is politics at its best.
  2. If I were from Richlands, I would leave it alone. They do not want too many people to start digging around. If a kid can not get into to a Virginia college as an in state student because he has a West Virginia address, but played all year in Richlands does not make the mind wonder. As for the others that wanted to go to the promise land, good for them. Bluefield still needs games next year. Do not drive by us to go to Patrick County.
  3. Lets see. Punt blocked. Then the punter is no longer a punter, he becomes a regular player. So you are saying that if grundy picks the ball up and starts running, the punter is the only man between them and the goal, they can not hit or block him. That is the most stupid reason I have heard.
  4. It is not your call or judgement on Marrs or anyone else. You need to help your brother run things down in Washingto County. The entire student body is not against him. Just like the entire student body is not drinking from the same kool aid as Witten.
  5. I hope they go to class and learn how to spell, before they hit the hardwood.
  6. I was looking at some past threads were battftbl had posted. He had no trouble making a remark about Doug Marrs and his boss John Oneal. Practice what you preach. You did not worry the impact it had on him, his family or the KIDS.
  7. As of today. Cave Spring 25.25 Richlands 24.50 Grundy 23.00 M'ville 18.63 Marion 15.75 Tunstall 14.33 Graham 14.00 Tazewell 12.44 P. County 11.63 Tunstall plays M'ville this week and is finished. Should be a loss. If Graham does not win against Abingdon and Carroll County, they should get enough points to get by Tunstall.
  8. Someone had to take up for the young lads from Bluefield. If the column was still active, instead of having all of Mcdowell County mad at me, I think I could have all of Richlands mad at me.
  9. Try looking at all the guys post's. He is not from Grundy. Try looking at Twin Valley!!!! It does not take a "boy genius" to figure it out.
  10. Very good point. Now we have raised little chicken shi?ts who want to hide behind a computer and bash people with the keyboard. Instead of the belt buckle, they may get banned from a forum!
  11. Easy on the word "retarded". There are many children who are "retarded" who have a better work ethic than the ones in school just for a check from the government!!!
  12. If the accounts are seperate. Football, basketball, baseball and so on. All money raised or collected by each team goes into that account. You spend what you have in that account, then you need to raise more funds. If the accounts are seperate, they have to be used seperate. You can not take band funds and pay for soccer. Same goes for cafeteria funds, office funds, senior class funds. Now by law the principal can use any of the accounts their school has on whatever deems to be needed.
  13. Thinking back to when Richlands beat a mostly freshman Grundy team 50-0, you think they could had saved a few runs for yesterday!
  14. You hit the nail on the head when you said " he is not the easiest coach to play for." Hell, if playing sports was easy, than every kid in school would be playing. It is WORK to play and meet the demands of playing. It is not little league anymore. The faster people realize that little johnny is not the next super star and with a little help from a coach, he may become a man.
  15. Talent is nothing if you have no guts to go with it! Someone gets on your tail and the best you have to offer is "I Quit". Parents, instead of questioning the coach, you should be questioning your parenting skills. Coach Walker is a good man and coach.
  16. Lets see, David ran for 1000 yards and threw for a over 1100 yards, punted for an average of 35 to 40 yards, was in on almost every tackle on defense and never came off the field. He at times carried the young lads from Graham on his back. Those are player of the year stats. It is not politics when it takes at least 4 of 7 votes to be named the poy. Cry politics all you want, but he deserved everything he got and will get in the region and state. Believe it or not, just because their is an "R" on your helmet does not entitle you to be the player of the year.
  17. County governments need to get a set of balls and start consolidating these tiny schools into one county school. There is no excuse for schools with this low of enrollments to be kept open. With the economy the way it is, right now is the best time to close these schools and provide the kids with a better stage to perform on.
  18. And they still had a chance to win the game!!!!
  19. Well your wish is granted. To cut to the chase, Richlands dropping the young lads from Bluefield boils down to one word "SPEED". Speed on defense is a night mare for a team that has average speed on offense and runs the spread offense. All the teams that have been able to beat the boys from down the road have speed and athletes. Then you have to chase the Beavers all over the field on offense. This creates situations that are not good for 99% of the teams in southwest Virginia. The good ole days are gone my goodfriend. The days of sandlot flag football have replaced the days when you had to go toe to toe and whip someone. I hope this will clear up why Bluefield is still the Home of Champions until someone can knock them off this perch.
  20. The "flat tailers" my want to give another school down the road a call. SALEM! Did The "flat tailers" destroy tiny William Campbell last year? I do not think so. Word to the wise, do not live in the past, or the future will pass you by.
  21. They used travel time as an excuse. Did not seem to bother them when they would travel to Blacksburg for indoor track every week, when they had a heck of a track team. Travel became an issue when they started to go down hill in the other sports.
  22. Better leave the bands at the house if you are going to play them. They rolled out 505 members on the field Thursday night. Year in and year out, swva would not stand a chance against DB. They dress near 100 kids, with several D1 athletes. With the new flag football offenses run this day and time by teams with skill people, no way they could match the speed level that DB brings to the table.
  23. Girls have been playing at Abingdon for years, no way guys would be that bad!!!!!
